When I was about 7 years old a mistreated Rottweiler took off my entire bottom lip. The plastic surgeon who consulted with us told my mother that it would grow back. She didn't believe him, but he told her "the regenerative abilities of children are amazing, especially in such a vascularized area. If it doesn't grow back, I will build her a new lip for free, but I'm telling you she's going to be fine. If I suture it now, I'll pull all of that tissue together and she's DEFINITELY going to have an abnormality that will need to get corrected later. It's going to heal better if we give the tissue a chance to regenerate." .... Guess who has a complete bottom lip and has had no facial surgeries.
@@Atan55555 it basically filled in toward the missing part from the edges. I'm left with a strip of scar tissue a little off center, that's... scar colored, which on me is a very pale whitish color. So that could be why they don't mention it, because sometimes it fades, it just takes a while, or its usually a warning for patients. Not sure though
Yes this is absolutely important! Nerve damage and regrowth can hurt, it can even cause some twitching, itching, tingling, and raw feelings, they usually go over this briefly when signing forms prior to surgery but I think discussing it publicly would be cool too so people think about telling their doctors if something unusual is happening so their concerns can be addressed as they come up.

Then she had her second bought of cancer a few years later (bone cancer.) Her doctor said the next place would be her breasts and reproductive organs. Hopefully she is in the clear for a lot longer because of her surgeries.
Normally I just watch these because they’re interesting. This is the first time I actually felt happy for the person! I mean wow, look at that result! I'm a burn victim from the age of 3. From 3 until 20 I had skin grafts from my legs. Now I have a beard from the leg skin and my skin graft wounds are visible. A hair transplant from my hair to my eyebrows failed so I have half eyebrows. I have tried electrolysis for my mustach and beard. I had tissue expanders twice to make skin grafts for my face. I had dermabrasion on both hands and they had to reset my pinky fingers on both hands. Doctors have given up on trying to lessen my scars. I'm a breast cancer survivor I don't know where a tissue expander could go since my whole body was used for skin grafts to remake a breast after my mastectomy but I have enough stomach skin to transplant to the new breast.
Thank you for sharing your story-it shows incredible strength and resilience. You’ve endured so much, from years of skin grafts and surgeries to overcoming breast cancer. It’s understandable to feel frustrated when treatments haven’t worked as hoped, but your perseverance is truly inspiring. Your journey is a testament to your courage. Be kind to yourself-you’ve come so far, and your strength is remarkable.
A couple months depends how much extra skin they need. If possible the self expanding ones are better so less chance for infection. This method was used for my son on his head for a burn scar.

People tout it as just online therapy, but at absolute best they are set up to help with minor illnesses. They can’t even diagnose. And even though they can treat MDD, they are not able to help serious illnesses like bipolar, which means they can’t help with serious depression either. They are NOT regular telahealth providers like you would find on psychology today’s search. They are therapists with their own practice (where serious or even moderate conditions can be treated) getting extra time helping minor minor cases on the side that don’t need routine care
Luv your videos!! I have a question. I have discoid lupus and I'm a young teen. Do you think it would be safe for me to get plastic surgery to get rid of the scars on my face at my age? And do you think it should be mandatory because it hurts me or no??
I’d recommend talking to a dermatologist about that if you haven’t already. I wish you luck! I also have chronic health problems so I understand your struggle
Talk with. Dr. And plastic surgeon. If you have Lupus; how are your kidneys? There is so much. I recently had a family friend passway. She had Lupus. Just received her 4th kidney and on dialysis. She was doing great, then caught CO-Vid in her lungs and passed. If you are a teenager; I would focus more on staying healthy. The scars do hurt. My friend suffered from pain and I myself went through bowl obstruction and suffered scars. You really need to have a meeting with your, Dr. And a plastic surgeon specialist. Insurance also doesn't cover that type of surgery.

I am 64 and still have a slight scar, kind of a single furrow down my cheek. If people notice it and I mention it, they say they thought it was an acne scar. I have had it so long that it has never really bothered me.
At 9:08, you can see in the After image that the eye where the skin graft was is now lower than the other eye due to the corrective surgery. ☹ (It's most noticeable when you look at how even the inner corner of the eyes were in the Before image versus how uneven they are in the After image.) Before the corrective surgery, I wonder if she was able to conceal the skin graft with makeup. Poor lady.
I noticed that as well! If you look passed the darker patch her features were very symmetrical before. Her eye is definitely being pulled a bit now. However, most people don’t have perfectly symmetrical faces and her skin looks great!
It'll probably get better with time as the scar tissue softens etc. It's still a fresh surgery
Tbh I'd rather a slightly droopy eye, esp thar can be covered with glasses, compared to to a dark patch with pubes on Mt face
@@gracesumner6696 exactly!
The results are still pretty amazing. It isn't a super obvious or noticeable thing unless you are really looking for it. Plus faces aren't perfectly symmetrical. She looks great
I can’t imagine how embarrassed this poor young woman was. Thank goodness the Dr fixed it
I love it when Dr Youn nods approvingly.
I have a cousin born with this patch she got it removed when she got grown but it left a scar . Exact like in image but she is African American.
The lady in the picture is African American too

That’s wonderful they were able to fix that for her. I am sure that was extremely traumatic for her to deal with for so long n now that is all over. 🙏🏻💖
Don’t use better help it’s genuinely a scam and their lies and negligence is sickening!!!! I hate how it’s popping back up again
Agree. I remember all the drama years ago. Can't believe it's back.
Didn’t BetterHelp have a scandal where it turned out they employed people that weren’t actually therapists? 🤔
Yes
oof
Yep
The scandal was that the contract w customer actually said that BetterHelp isnt' responsible for ensuring your therapist is really qualified. I don't believe any therapists were found as fakes. Just that they were trying to cover their ass legally but also undermining their own brand. They've now changed their policy & the contract.
I also heard that there was an issue with people's personal data being leaked or sold?
Dr. Youn, you have great hair! Your hair is almost as nice as you! Thank you for your vids and for caring about ppl. ☺
That doctor did an amazing job. It doesn’t even look like the skin patch was ever there 😮
I can't stop watching your videos Dr Youn. You are humble and honest nan
My cousin had a tissue expander used to reconstruct her breasts. She had her first diagnoses of cancer in her early 30’s. She got lymphoma from her time in the military.
I don’t know what idiot she had back when she was bitten by that dog, but whoever it was should have known better. And she’s such a pretty young woman… I’d be devastated to walk around with a dark patch of skin growing pubic hair on my face. To see how great she looked in the end really did my heart good. Now she can go strut her stuff with confidence 😊
Dr. Youn, thank you for this information. As a 40 year RN, I do appreciate all you do to educate the public. I also appreciate your kindness and sense of humor ❤
I always wondered about laser hair removal but worried cause I'm black and heard scarring is a issue. I already have some scars from plucking.
Better Help is a scam. You shouldn't have taken that sponsorship
How is it a scam? It’s really helped me
She looks fantastic! I can imagine how much better she feels! Great job Dr. Nassiff and great job to her for taking care of it as it heals. Very pretty!
It is already painful enough for those of us with hirsutism due to PCOS, I can't imagine those terminal hairs growing there and having a patch of skin that makes it so obvious. Glad she got help and got rid of it.
Wow! They did an awesome job! She looks amazing!
Amazing results! She looks beautiful
Love your personality! The inserts are hilarious. Keep it light 😉😁
Love your videos. This one was very unique. So happy for her. She looks amazing. . ❤️
Hi Dr. Youn, how long did it take for the skin to expand to perform the 2nd surgery? Greetings from Mexico :)
A couple months depends how much extra skin they need. If possible the self expanding ones are better so less chance for infection. This method was used for my son on his head for a burn scar.
I started doubting my gp after watching this show. If there’s plastic surgeons who botch their patients like this or take decisions leading to bad results that could have been easily avoided how am I suppose to trust my doctor really does her best. Especially when I don’t agree with her.
You shouldn't distrust everything your doctor says, but it never hurts to get a second opinion if you have concerns.
@@Krystal109 I’m not saying I doubt everything my doctor says or she wouldn’t be my doctor anymore. I have seen multiple specialists who gave their opinions to my doctor by letters and often she has chosen not to follow their opinions , this is what I’m doubting as it takes a long time to see a specialist where I’m from.
@@ХалиматЯмадаева28 If you see a specialist and they recommend a different approach and your doctor just ignores it, then yea I would doubt their opinion a bit. A specialist is exactly that... a specialist, they know more than a GP.
It’s always suggested you get a 2nd or 3rd opinion. Do not ask to be referred that way you don’t run the risks of birds of a feather type situation.
She’s soooo lovely I hope they can fix it for her
Wow it looks so clean! Like as if she never got surgery done or had that spot in the first place
Really disappointed about the better help sponsorship. Please do some more research on company. They are not reliable and treat the therapists poorly.
Your editor is pretty funny. I love all the little cartoon clips and memes added in for flavor.
Botched was such a good show. This more reconstructive plastic surgery is fascinating.
I guess i really lucked out when i was a kid, fell out of a tree and got a twig stuck in my lip and apparently they got a plastic surgeon to do the stitches, so all i have is a scar you can only see when i stretch out the bottom lip
Wow never saw anything like this before she looks fabulous that doctor is awesome
Dr Youn. Appreciate your videos and effort. Well done. Thank you.
I appreciate your add for betterhelp. It’s for standard life difficulties, not treating mental illness.
I love the laser hair removal graphic.
@@kaylee1769 you almost have chronic health problems? Lol you either do or you don't

Same thing happened to my youngest nephew. Serious dog bite on his face. Same issue, scrotum hair on his face. Happened when he was 4yrs. He’s now 17yrs old. He’ looking for a surgical revision
My foster dad had a 2 inch by 6 inch strip of the top of his head removed in a car accident (like extreme road rash) and when in surgery the guy on shift previously was a plastic surgeon and somehow found a way to stitch it back together. Foster dad jokes he got a "complimentary face lift". Only problem is that it gave him a drastic widows peak where there wasn't one (think count countula) and so he has to shave his forehead to appear more "normal"
Somehow extreme road rash were the worse injuries in our major car wreck (we flipped over 6 times.
woww i’m so amazed by this beautiful work!
I just love this Dr. GOD Bless you all and your families
The results were amazing!
Outstanding presentation and commentary.
Wow. what a great transformation!
I got bit by a dog as a kid and there was a big flap but it didn't come off. All the owner of the dog did was give a bandage and a quarter to me and one to my friend to go get ourselves some candy. There was a scar for quite a few years, but it went away. That was 1968 or 1969. Whole different world today.
Always learning so much from you ❤
dr youn pls make a video abt skin lightening due to tanning
Gads what an awful place to take skin from. My reconstruction used skin from my inner thighs and fat from all over to create breasts are a double mastectomy.
Now I have really LONG hairs on my underbreasts and a combination of weird fat and loose skin on my stomach and thighs….
I was 125lbs and don’t know why they wanted to use my nonexistent abdominal fat for this but yeah… ok thanks for the will never feel human again surgery. Lol
I feel this girls frustration and love her happy results
My guess as to why the original doctor used groin skin is that it has similar sensitivity levels to facial skin, and the scar would be in a hidden place.
Again I know I’m late to the game but…THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SAYING THAT!! It’s a reaction and it’s usually the OWNERS fault NOT the dog!!!
A friend here in northern Sweden got her nose bitten off by one of her dogs this new year. 😱 She wasn't observant enough of the dog while it was afraid of firework and she leaned over the dog to hug. She will have a transplant down in germany. But until then she will have a prosthesis.
That episode made me livid. I didn't understand why they would do that to her. It seemed spiteful and malicious.
It wasn’t. It was the surgery AT THE TIME
@@nowirehangers2815not a doctor, but I'm sure they could've taken skin from somewhere else. That's why it's on botched.
Those are amazing results!

Dr., your playlist is not showing on youtube that you point to at the end of the video. Check it out 🤗
WOW! That was amazing!
Fascinating to learn how skin actually works
Talk about an improvement. Good for her
Wow! Brilliant!
My uncle was badly burnt on his face when he was 12 years old. One of the skin grafts came from his thigh and they put the strip across the bridge of his nose. He's had to shave his nose ever since.
She looks amazing!!! Gorgeous!! I really don't understand how a plastic surgeon could be so ignorant as to putting pubic skin on a face!!!! WOW!!! I'm so shocked!!! What the hell did he think it would do??? Especially if he used full-thickness skin... This poor woman...
I can't wait to be a surgeon, so educated 😮❤
You do thumbnails right! Most people look super cheesy, bad cheesy. You are hilarious!
I was attacked by a German shepherd chow mix and in 2 bites almost took out my left eye and literally ripped the cartilage out of my nose my plastic surgeon was everything cause I now barely have a small scar under my nose but it was definitely a journey my confidence was gone until I had my last surgery I had to have about 8 surgeries until I was back to myself ❤
Amazing fix!
I remember this episode.
It would be great if you could custom design and order the shape etc of tissue expanders.
One of the first Pimple Popper videos that I saw was a similar situation; but it was on the fingertip of one of the patient’s fingers.
I want to say that the patient had a skin graft from his testicles & every time he would get cold the skin contracted. That was insane ~
youre based for the excision reference man i did not expect that you have my respect
She looks great!
I feel so sad for this things that happen I wish everyone could look beautiful and as good as they can possibly be
