- The Galar region is one of the most rich and bio-diverse regions in terms of catching Pokemon. Of course, with such a large pool of Pokemon to catch, some are bound to give you more of a fight than others. Today, we are going to be going over the Top Ten Hardest Pokemon to catch in Sword and Shield. While catching Pokemon is heavily dependant on that Pokemon’s catch rate, we will also be considering when and where these Pokemon can be caught, and how common or rare it is to find them.

For those struggling with getting Rotom at the Lake of Outrage bring a pokemon with lightning rod in your party to make the overworld spawn rate 50%
make sure you go in thunderstorm weather
Used this, and I have a box full of them
When I caught him I thought it was a common spawn. Saw several when going for Drippy

I legit found 4 dittos in less than 20 minutes in lake of outrage. That can’t be right.

You were at the lake of outrage,that means rare Pokemon all over ( from what I hear)
Yea the reason is that it's a 10% spawn in overworld and I did not get drippy I had to breed it from its evo bc of how common they are in the thunderstorm

Use a quick ball
Have Hattarene use magic powder to turn it into a psychic type then use false swipe

I caught 3 Dhelmise without trying. Well, 1 I tried for a while to get it, and then 2 spawned a few minutes later 😑
Use soak
Right when you mentioned Dhelmise is one of the hardest Pokemon to find, a Dhelmise appeared on my Shield game.

I caught most of the list already but the Metagross evolution line was hell to catch. All three of them took an insane amount of pokeballs to catch moreso than any other i caught to complete my dex.
They have the same catch rate as legendary, I think about 3%.
i had let's go eevee, so eevee was pretty easy to get.
Gregory Mirabella you can’t evolve that eevee tho. You can only evolve the wild ones

i just bred ditto and the eeveelutions that i caught on the lake of outrage and now i have like 20 eevees

I think you forgot about Ralts, who IMO should have at least been an honorable mention. Ralts only has a 2% spawn rate in the wild area (it can appear in the grass near the Lv 30 Onix, where Tyrogue normally spawns) during Overcast weather, while it has a far better 60% spawn rate in Foggy weather. It also doesn't help that if it's a "luminous" Ralts (one that gives you Watts), there's a chance that it could have Memento, which would cause it to kill itself. Yes, it has a very high catch rate of 235, but with how rarely it shows up prior to defeating Leon, the biggest problem would be actually *finding* one of them in the first place!
I was really lucky with my dhelmise 😂 as soon as I got to route 9 it was an overworld encounter and I watched the other video and decided to just go catch it while it was there 😅
Same with me. I saw it spawn, then had PTSD ‘Nam flashbacks to Sun/Moon where it was hard af to find so I nabbed it without question

I found out harvest ups the encounter rate of grass type Pokémon so finding dhelmise would be easier ! Same with lightning rod storm drain and flash fire with their respective types :)

Bruh... You can get Eevee super easy through breeding. Just find one of it’s evolutions at Lake of Outrage and breed, breed, breed.

Don’t know if I’m just getting lucky but I’ve found 3 eevee’s and well Dittos are everywhere just annoying to catch and got an indeedee earlier along with a shiny
I have two strategies
Ditto- have a really weak Pokémon that’s maybe normal type (doesn’t matter) then use a Pokémon that’s only effective, if it’s super effective then it will die, so use those moves and use a ultra ball or heal ball.
Eevee: there is one that spawns at the lake of outrage, try to get the daily spawn eevee and use your ditto to get more dittos. Behind the rocks in lake of outrage is stones such as water, leaf etc

In my opinion, the absolute hardest normal wild pokemon to catch is turtonator, because it uses explosion. It took me over 40 minutes to find two since the first one exploded.
I had no problem with Eevee

When I got my Zamazenta I accidentally threw a net ball at it and caught it...
I guess I just have that sort of luck? I also got my Solgelao ( not sure if that’s how you spell it ) and Necrozma in regular pokeballs...
When catching rare Pokemon, I make sure to have weak Pokemon on my team so I don't accidentally kill it.
Ran into a lapras and it refused to be caught by my quick ball. I was thinking,
"Ok I'll just keep throwing ultra balls at it"

that’s absolutely crazy, almost everytime i go to the place u can find ditto i find one
Feebas gave me so much damn trouble. I kept fishing in route 2 for 2 days and kept getting damn Chewtles and Magicarps. At least I got a shiny Chewtle out of it and eventually caught Feebas. :/ Too bad I don't like Chewtle.
The fact that golett isn't on there kinda surprised me.
He uses curse so if you don't catch him on your first pokeball throw, he is dead. It took me 6 goletts to catch 1.
I caught Zacian on my first try without master ball you sure it’s just 10%

Loool I cant believe it, I caught zamazenta with 1 great ball with full hp ? Reason I threw it in the first place was just to check if I was able to catch or did I have to defeat it first to be given a chance to catch just yet . I must of got really lucky then

I have never saw a jangmo-o in my entire sword playtrough but I did saw a wild kommo-o and I also catched it :3
So I'm very fortunate then to have gotten a shiny Rotom (5th spawn), a shiny Ditto (4th spawn), and to have caught my Zamazenta with an ultra ball...
Goddammit i read the title as "top 10 hardest pokemon" and clicked immediately, i mean this wasnt what i wanted, but hey wasnt disappointed!

I don't know the den number but it's to the right of the breeder if you are leaving from there in the corner

Mantyke was a pain in the ass because it both hailed and mantyke kept using aqua ring...

I have found just 2 or 3 ditto in the grass at the wild area during my gameplay, but a lot in his den during high iv ditto farming... So yeah, it is hard to catch him, but at the same time it can be very easy
Once I knew where Dhelmise spawned, I went there and found it on my first try. Then when I was playing through again in Shield, he was waiting for me there as well.
On a side note, I find it annoying how you mixed up the weather icons. You say overcast, but put up the fog icon or the intense sun icon.
Also, regarding eevee, it is 5% in shield. 1% is only for sword
The Lake of outrage is my go-to spot for like catching a crap ton of eeveelutions 😔✊

i got a tyranator, haxoras, ditto (and I saw another one as well, decided not to catch it tho), on the same day. I also got a level 100 urshifu and 2 level 100 intelaons

I am finding half of all the pokemon you mention as if they were common. The only one that gave me a lot of problem was goomy
I’m currently doing a nuzloke on sword and I got indeedee in the mushroom forest and got a ditto in the wild area
You don’t have to beat the champion to get dreepy, I’ve caught several and evolved forms after the last gym battle with raihan but I caught two before that from dreepy raid dens, it just costs you a lot of watts for the wishing star pieces.
For Ditto there is a Den that always spawns them with a purple beam.

The 1% evee thing is only for sword where you have a 5% chance for pikachu there but the stats are switched in shield

You forgot feebas. It has a 1% chance of spawning and can only be found in a special location.
the good thing is is that dreepy is most encountered in surprise trades.
I caught a dhelmise earlier no wonder it was a pain to catch, Also I caught it in a pokeball.
Zweilous can be found in sandstorm in the over world at a 2 percent encounter rate.
Sorry to say this, but you used the same icon for fog and overcast. Overcast is a different symbol.

Whenever I draw only an ultra ball I always get a one shot and a catch the Pokémon well I did catch a door sock like I need to legendary’s or see them
Bruh I caught Zamazenta in a master ball. You can get Sawk and Troh by trade,dude. Also,you should have put Sizzlepede in the damn list.
So basicaly, you can get a higher percentage by max raids

...Doesn't Eevee have a 5% appearance rate in Shield? Besides that, I really think you're understating how difficult it can be to catch some Pokemon because of their movesets. Throh can be a nightmare to catch if it has Circle Throw.
Also, Farfetch'd really isn't that hard to evolve. Once you have a Leek (which btw, you can check for using a Frisk Pokemon before wasting Pokeballs or time), just teach it Focus Energy and it'll crit way more than you need it to.

Salandit in Sword is a nightmare. I found one in wild area.
The 5 star Gigantamax Snorlax is kind of annoying to catch cause you only get one shot.
2 things go to Lake of outrage when it is raining and you will see a bunch of ditto and eeve is ez just transfer it from pokemon go
Rain or mist in the lake of outrage is full of dito
Haxorous is very easy to get in the axe eye place
Bruh you’ll find Zweilous and Drakloak in 30 seconds if the weather is thunderstorm...or just go to Axew’s eye and do a raid battle exploit for 1 minute and you’ll be able to get hidden ability Drakloak
OMG I caught Centiscroch at its pre-evelotion in route, 3? And I named it worm...
When I found out rotom was in the games I had to hunt him down because he is one of my favorite Pokémon. I found him after like one minute so I was pretty lucky.
And when I was there I also caught ditto which is also one of my favorite Pokemon

I knew dreepy was hard to catch and then I found 4 in a row was didn't get how it was that hard.

It's shocking that Eevee is hard to find in these games because the one percent chance it was easier to find Eevee in the Pokemon Let's Go games.

Aussie Zambarau Hidden abilities like Mirror Armor are exclusively found in Max Raid Battles.

Catching Sawk was absolute nonsense in my playthrough, I spent 15 ultra balls at 1hp I was fuming.
Catch rates aren't 100% for solo raids
They are close but higher star more chance you can't catch it
Funny, my copy of shield must be haunted with rare pokemon....Eiecue and Durpy haunt my copy like the pleage....Dhelmise....is hard to catch. Did I buy the extra haunted copy, cause I caught that joke easy. I found finding Ponyta to be harder. I can breed these with my Ditto and trade about half the list.
I went to route four and found an eevee instantly...And it was female too. Did I just, get very lucky?
