The harmonies are so beautiful! Being a singer, myself. En Vogue has literally taught me how to alto , bass , tenor , soprano , levels of the harmonies lol
You're right, they are amazing. I just wish they stayed a quartet longer or at least until the EV3 was over. I would've loved to hear Dawn singing hear with them.
I love them but I could always tell that Terry and Cyndy had a closer relationship... it really showed when it was just the 3 of them.. Great harmony to not be relatives.
You can hear Terry take the top note at 2:36-2:44 but Cindy and Max lower register is so identical and pretty , you don't hear the difference at 2:36-2:44
I studied the shit outta that so I could HEAR what you're saying. I looooove music and EnVogue but don't always catch stuff like that because EnVogue will straight flip the script on you.
@@davionsomerville9120 lol i just had to correct some typos in my post. I'm bad on my phone. But yes, they sound amazing. I like to hear EV (especially the original 4) on my desktop with a big screen and the big JBL so i dont miss nothing!!
This era was so frustrating in part because of how Dawn's departure seemed to throw off the group dynamic. Usually En Vogue had one or two lead singers for a track (at least for the singles). Cindy and Terri would be paired together, as would Dawn and Max. When Dawn left, it sort of left Max by herself without her vocal counterpart. After Dawn left, Max and Terri seemed to get the bulk of the verses, while Max would be left with just one B-verse (like in "Whatever") or the bridge like in "Too Gone, Too Long." She also had less opportunities to do ad libs. Every singer in En Vogue is basically equal, with each having their own unique specialty, so I think Max could have sang equally with Max and Terri. But it seems like the ladies or the producers didn't want to fiddle with their previous formula more than they thought they had to. It's a shame, because Max is an AMAZING alto that deserved more shine in this era.
Agreed. And might I say, it's refreshing to read a coherent, thoughtful, and well-articulated comment in the comments section for a change - thank you for restoring my faith in internet comments! 😄Much appreciated!

I wonder if their vibe was the beginnings of Maxine leaving? They are professionals.
although it was a pretty good performance, I too noticed something "off " about this performance..... It just didn't seem "free"
