Hi Brian, I just upgraded from a 2001 to 2014 Tacoma 2.7 /4 engines in both. However the 01 runs at 2k RPM at about 60 MPH where the 14 pushes 3k RPM @ 60 MPH. Any ideas why this might be? It's all stock as far as I can tell so not likely to have had any gear changes. Thx!
That's definitely some high rpms. My 14 V6 was right at 2k at highway speed with 33" tires. Not sure if it will help but check out this vid: ruclips.net/video/x2YNC_CMbC0/видео.html
How do you make sure that the paint doesn’t come off? I’m considering repainting my shift knob… It’s a pistol grip style. So, my hand will be all over the painted sections all the time.
I may have missed this.. looks like a carbon fiber finish on the plate surrounding the shift knob. Is that a wrap? Looks nice. Would also like to see how to paint the silver vent pieces on either side of the radio screen

I thought you were going to get rid of the garbage OEM shift knob with an AJT Design shift knob...You should have painted part of the knob with your orange truck color.

Great video. Smart trick using the heat shrink tubing. I have a label maker that prints on heat shrink tubing I may give that a try on my Taco. Good work.
Great video! Been looking to black out various inside pieces of the truck as you have been doing. How did you change the color of the pillars in front. Also do you plan on doing the gauge rings and radio bezel?
Thanks Theresa! I just painted those pillars as well but didn't record the process. Yes I plan on doing many more mini painting (or vinyl wrapping) projects like for the gauge and radio.

what did you use to spray paint your grab handle orange?
Just some regular spray can paint from Home Depot.

You cold add a few clear coats for added protection.

Curious why you went with flat black and not continue the carbon fiber wrap theme.
I like the carbon fiber but only in small bits.

You could certainly add a clear coat but might be overkill for an interior application.
