Great video! I always like reading the stories of the people connected to the railroad during that period or had friends/family that were.

Even in the face of tough competition from automobiles, airlines, highways and trucks, the brave Wabash stuck it out on its own. Plus the Wabash was essentially surrounded by other competing railroads such as the Illinois Central and Nickel Plate. And when 1964 came calling, the Wabash was absorbed by the Norfolk & Western and had not looked back since. Even though the late great Wabash is no more, its legacy is still very much alive in the trains of Norfolk Southern. And even NS has the Wabash heritage unit! Now that's portraying a fallen flag to the best of your ability.

Super: great video. Ah, the way railroading was. Interesting to see a B&O geep hauling an ACL boxcar. Wow. Who could have predicted it?

What a great railroad but I’m sure Alabama was super racist in the 1960s

Do we always have to bring race into everything! What the hell does racism have to do with a vintage train video?
