Plus the Wabash was essentially surrounded by other competing railroads such as the Illinois Central and Nickel Plate. And when 1964 came calling, the Wabash was absorbed by the Norfolk & Western and had not looked back since. Even though the late great Wabash is no more, its legacy is still very much alive in the trains of Norfolk Southern. And even NS has the Wabash heritage unit! Now that's portraying a fallen flag to the best of your ability.
In 1976 I work for the Illinois Terminal Railroad in Decatur Illinois and it was a wonderful experience living in Decatur was also a great experience it will be a time in my life I will never forget thank you for the video

Just found this. Grew up watching the Wabash and the wonderful Blue Bird go through Decatur.
