Let me know what you think of my board! Also, what is on your board that you recommend me trying? Sorry for the lower video quality in this one! I needed 2 cameras and had to rely on the built in camera on my desktop for some of it!
The video quality didn't bother me, but the audio quality did bother me. Tinny and a lot of noise. Do you have a proper microphone? You probably need two--one for your voice and one in front of the amp.
Gregory Holmberg yes, I do have a good mic. For some reason I didn’t think to use it! Normally just use one camera with a good quality mic. Oh well, something to think about next time I use two cameras 🤩
This is more or less my jazz board - I have a harmonist for modulation and an EQ pedal though can't live without my modded Freezes and the RC3. I also have an OC3 that I go into the RC3 stereo - super versatile covers a lot of ground. Great video of your methods.
@@jazzguitarwithandy So I use my freeze for live performance and up until recently Freeze pedals had a regular cheap switch that was really "loud". you could hear the "clicks". People started getting those moded until the new Freeze pedals come with a soft already. That said I have a few freeze pedals - a couple have the "arcade" mod by Alchemy Audio while others have their switch which they say is still better than the new school stock soft switch. For people handy with a soldering iron it's apparently super easy and cheap to do if the click bugs you.
Interesting selection. I have the Loop Station and the Freeze and a Boss Compressor, but for playing jazz I recently added a Boss GE-7 Equalizer. The difference the equalizer makes is huge, in my opinion. I can really fine-tune the sound I want like nothing else I've ever tried. I've spent a lot of time playing with amp and guitar settings, but the equalizer is the best solution for me.
Interesting Joe. I did briefly consider an EQ pedal. The boost pedal does have some EQ on it. Can imagine that's pretty useful to have. What guitar are you using?
@@jazzguitarwithandy I use both a Gibson ES175 and a Fender Telecaster and I find that the EQ really helps me to fine-tune my sound. I'm not a tech wizard but it works for me.
A very useful pedal for jazz guitar is an equaliser. Depending on the frequencies you tamper with, you can get a dark, brooding tone which imo is very nice.
Hi Andy. How about a compressor for sustain? If you find a sweet spot that lets you retain dynamic control while playing long notes, it can sound great. Playing ballads can benefit from this approach. And a graphic eq is handy for gigs.
Always interesting to see others pedals boards :) Possibly a Compressor and anti-feedback pedal? Could we have a tutorial or two on playing jazz guitar when only accompanying a singer please? Comping is ok but solos always sound so thin when changing from comping to solo with no other instruments. Thanks for great Channel
I did think about a compressor and had just sold the SP compressor. Wish I'd kept it now! That sounds like a good topic to cover! Do you try to do chord solos or single lines or a combination of the two?
Great video! A small board suffices. I have the same board except I use an EQ pedal instead of the tuner. :) Nice playing too! Great that you have something going in these time.
You don't hear anough about 'Freeze'. Especially useful for those near the start of their learning curve with guitar - hit a chord (not a pattern or riff), use it as a drone and learn to jam against it. Then you can change the drone note as you develop improvisation skills. After that, you can move to looping with riffs and chord patterns etc.
It is not necessary to play good jazz, he has the Flint. What if possible is for a compressor and an EQ to open up a good range of possibilities. Especially with compressor before Freeze, and to open even more, between them would interspersed Chorus and Delay, the possibilities would be even greater. It would also include a Slow Gear, but would put it before the compressor, obvious true bypass. Anti-feedback gives you half a life also com have commented.

Interesting, what's this mod you've done on your Freeze?

@@jinjxmusic that makes sense. I might just do that mod. Thanks for the tip

I've seen others recommend and eq pedal recently and they really like it.

The Freeze pedal looks really interesting. The tuner looks interesting too. Love the idea that you can check your tuning while your playing.
The freeze is really useful for working on ideas over a chord type, good for the ear as a result.

Yes, I think that is something that could be super useful. I might try that one day.

I've since changed this board. I once had a compressor and for some reason I never quite got on with it. Which one do you use?
@@jazzguitarwithandy Nothing fancy, just an old Boss CS-3 I've used for years.

Jazz guitar with Andy thanks Andy - I’ll give that a try 👍

Thanks. Really happy with this board! Certainly worth all the research and agonising over what pedals to buy 😂
9:22 what chord is that? it gives a bittersweet emotion
Bbm7b5 with an 11th! xx89911.
Although iF you add an F# in the bass it becomes f#13. XX989911
Nice board.... I have mostly the same changing the booster for a Maxon 808 (I use as a booster) and the Freeze for a Waiting Room delay or CH1 chorus.
Not heard of the Maxon 808, will have to check that out.
@@jazzguitarwithandy It is an overdrive but I'have been thinking maybe I should replace for a booster. Also, I'm looking for the JHS Morning Glory.
What guitar string do you use? I love the sound.
Nice video and tools Andy. My first priority will be using the looper and freeze pedals. Best Wishes and stay safe!
They are very useful Bill. Best wishes to you too.
nice - waiting on a Boss looper pedal myself
Nice! Which one have you gone for?
Thanks!

Bill Frisell fan ; ) like me ;)
Love Bill ❤️
What kind of guitar?
Singing as well!!!!!
I know! BVs with MDC.
Strymon DECO!!!
Need to try one of those out!
@@jazzguitarwithandy Fattens up the sound and although I've never been a fan of OD/distortion, it adds a sweet OD which I like.
Delay, compressor
You need POG 2 or HOG 2 and RP1 Nova if you want to play good jazz
I hadn't heard of any of those. That Hog 2 has incredible capabilities !
