Keith was a much better offensive ball player than people realize. The most important offensive stat is OBP, and Keith was in the top three in the league seven times in eight years. Here is a list of some players who were not in the top three seven times in their whole careers.....Aaron, Mays, Rose, Carew, frank Thomas, Vlad Guerrero, Brett, snider, Hodges, Piazza...dozens more. Only the top elites reached that level.....Cobb, Hornsby, Ruth, Gehrig, Foxx, Musial, Mantle, Bonds...a few more. Keith did this despite being the kind of situation hitter, who always gave himself up to move a runner over or hit a sac fly with a runner on third....he led the league in getting guys home from third with less than two outs. He also wore pitchers out fouling off balls, which helps the rest of the team. He did this despite playing in two very tough hitters' parks. His raw numbers don't jump out because he played ina low offense era.

If Scott Rolen, Baines & Larry Walker are in the HOF then Keith deserves it too. He was the best 1st Baseman ever. Great hitter. Great teammate. Great leader. Clutch too.

seems like a great guy. I wouldn't mind meeting up with him and having a cup of coffee. Maybe I'd help move his furniture, but I am NOT giving him a ride to the airport!
