The long-term strategy of placating Xi's China works in some ways for Singapore because if a peaceful Taiwan is invaded or blockaded, the interference of the trade routes around Taiwan won't necessarily hurt Sinagpore's standing in the world as a trade hub. (If anything, actions by China against Taiwan comparatively help Singapore by negatively impacting Taiwan). This policy is detrimental to the freedom and sovereignty of Taiwanese people.

PM Lee still remains the highest-paid prime minister in the world. Additionally, let’s also not forget that his wife, Ho Ching, was the CEO of the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund Temasek from 2004 to 2021, and likely received a substantial salary.
