Really? A perverted homosexual and felon to live for another 50 years?! This creature Strang has caused more harm to mathematics than all other writers and authors combined. He is a fool and an evil individual who will be remembered in infamy for libeling the great John Gabriel:

i am Chinese..to compare the teacher between MIT and our school.
the difference is that 'the professor like Gilbert Strang can makes the dupe to change into a genius.and what our teachers doing is just make the genius change into a fool.''

To be a great math teacher, one needs to be (a) a top-notch mathematician, (b) an excellent communicator, and (c) someone who truly loves to teach. Professor Strang no doubt possesses all these three qualities, for which I am so very grateful. There are many smart people in (a) and (b), but not so many of them dedicate their lives to education.

My linear algebra teacher reads PPT on class. I got crazy and got 50% on mid term. And he thinks it is our problem. Thus, I find online resource about linear algebra. I am pretty lucky because I found Mr Strang and his book in our library. I should say, have a good teacher is very very very important !!!

I owe so much to Professor Strang and the all of the preofessors and OCW at large.
His Linear Algebra Course is so amazing!!! I would not have done nearly as well in my course without it,
but more importantly his explanations and examples give such an insight to the real meat of the subject.
It becomes fun, and then the math is easy. Quite an amazing skill he has for lecturing.

I don't have enough words in my vocabulary to express my appreciation and thankfulness to professor Strang. I think that I have decided to pursue my teaching career in parallel with my regular industry job because I was motivated by the Linear Algebra course he recorded back in 2005. I am still doing it, 16 years later. I always try to mimic what I have seen. Moreover, these days I am watching the lessons again. Ah yeas, I do not teach math, at all. :-)

As with any teaching arena, committed interested students with a reasonable background in the prerequisites will support success. W. Edwards Deming did not give grades (other than A) but he was able to hand pick his students. I however had to take what was given, despite their backgrounds. It is the unknown that makes online teaching much more difficult. In teaching an online course in management that required a significant math background, one of MBA students confessed that he avoided Mathematics at every turn and we were discussing linear programming. Needless to say he did poorly, but the school demanded that all students get at least a grade of B.

Prof Strang's undergraduate linear algebra lectures are a work of art. And now, with MIT's unbelievably generous OCW project, they are a gift to the world. I watched his lectures years after struggling through my own linear algebra class and constantly found myself thinking: "I wish my professor had explained it this way." Thank you, Prof Strang, and thank you, MIT!

Professor Strang your teachings is a mystery for students cause you teach abstract logic reasoning and it's very difficult for a beginner student to enrich from your proficiency. Thus a mathematical completion has to be base on a mathematical proven model and implicit the end goal for the student to really emphasize the end work of your teaching. MIT has the greatest intellect mind teachers in the world but an exemple of a proven demonstration will surely help the understanding. May be I am wrong in this critic for I am not at the level math required. Still before implicating any mathematics, it has to be base on a proven visual math model if not it will be only an abstract logic demonstration. Much oblige, sir for your good will.
