We will be using caulk, 2 gift boxes, and spackle (Dollar Tree Haul) to create this darling realistic (faux) farmhouse dessert. My mom also decorated cakes as a side job. When I was older she gave me pointers and I tool Wilton classes and did the same as my mom, I even made my wedding cake. Now my daughter decorates cakes and has even taught Wilton classes about 10 years ago. You brought back some wonderful memories for me. THANK YOU❣️

Very nice. I’ve found by mixing paint and lightweight spakle together it helps make creamy consistency like frosting and will stick better to your surface.

You could even make it look like a CUT cake. Once you finish it, cut a piece out. Then take an appropriately textured sponge and cut it to fit into the spaces between boxes. You could even insert a skewer in or behind the sponge if necessary to support the cake. Paint the sponge the desired color. an if you're making a cake like a carrot cake that has things like raisins or nuts, simulate them with small blobs of appropriately colored paint. Let the sponges dry and insert them into the spaces in the box. then use a little extra caulk to simulate the frosting between layers. You could even use this method to make the cut out piece look realistic.
