As an African Descendant of Slavery in the US that has children with an Igbo man, I find it so strange that the family doesn't have any interest in Odinani and is deeply Christian while I resonate more with Odinani spiritually. I will be traveling to Nigeria soon and hope to meet people that authentically engage with the Igbo traditional system as opposed to being caged into Christianity.
Alicia thanks for watching my video. I am also happy about your interest in Igbo Culture. About your husband's indifference towards his culture, you must understand that the black man is spiritually colonised. Mental colonisation is one of the worst thing that can happen to any one. It will take time, perhaps in his later years if he is a conscious being, to see the importance of holding on to his ancestral ways. As for the children, your interest will spark their interest. At least even if it is just one of them. Decolonisation of the black man is a long and tortuous process. It will take time but it is inevitable. The whites with their evident hypocrisy are already helping us do the job.
@@Ezeikolomuo thanks for responding... In terms of being deeply Christian, I am speaking of the rest of the father's family whom I will be traveling to Nigeria with, such as my kids grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. The father of my kids was actually the one least orthodox when it comes to Christianity but we are separated. I do see what you are saying in terms of mental colonization in general though, with black people here in the US and Igboland. I do intend to immerse myself in as much as the indigenous culture as I can when I travel there ... just hoping to not have a lot of opposition from the family in doing so

first of all, let me thank you for all the good information you have been sharing with us. i live here in london, and there are no good place here to get this kind information, so thank you for this. As for the question you asked ... if our igbo GODS are still powerful ... i will say yes . my view on this is that, in all spiritualities, there are laws that govern them. even in the christian bible, there are laws, governing the relationship between jehovah and his people the israelites. The same is true with our igbo spirituality. just as you mentioned, we left our tradition and went after the foreign religion (christianity). imagine a man , whose wife would leave him for another man, and still wants her husband that she has left, to be happy with her and continue to take care of her. in my opinion, I think the GODS and ANCESTORS of our land, are angry with us generally, and this is shown out, in all the calamities that has been hitting us, since the colonial days, till now. we can't throw away our GODS and ANCESTORS and still have the guts, to still expect their assistance. when we were younger, when we don't listen to our parents, but instead we listen to another person, we don't expect happiness from our parents, instead we expect the whip from them. as you say we have to return to the ways of our ancestors. ThIs is just my opinion. once again, thanks for the information. unfortunately, i was not brought up with IGBO tradition like many of us , born in the western world, like myself. so your informaton is very important to me . thanks a lot.
I agree with you on this One. They are flogging us seriously. Discipline is a great virtue. The whole divine enterprise was built on discipline. What you need there is a God for your needs. I know the real being behind this monotheism idea and why? Earth realm is gone, everything is in chaos I don't think we can pull through this chaos its too much. Nways they will be waiting for each and everyone of us on the side/ after life in their respective Domains. Peace ✌️.
Thank you for your information. Igbo gods are very very powerful. Since we leave our origin and photocopy foreign God nothing new have happen in our life's. We are still were our ancestors lift us. In my opinion our gods (Ala, udo, agwu, ikenga, eetc) are are powerful till tomorrow.
The Christians threw and are still throwing the first punch. It's Christianity that demonised Odinani. Having this historical fact in mind, knowing they continuously brainwash our people through their religious indoctrination and message of superiority, it will be practically impossible not to weigh, crosscheck and fact-check their religion vis-a-vis the teaching and defence of Odinani Igbo. In simple terms, if you call me a goat, in trying to say I am not one, I am at liberty to say why you look more like a goat than I.
