I was driving home from work yesterday and I saw an accident in an intersection. It involved a Walmart delivery van. My first thought was that I hope no one is injured. Then I kind of giggled thinking well someone isn’t getting their order on time. You know what, life happens, just like you said, Jen. We need to give people the benefit of the doubt. If your delivery is late, please be patient. This is an amazing option to NOT have to go to the store. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to get Walmart deliveries. Life is not perfect, even if the delivery is late, I still love Walmart!!! ❤❤❤
I really appreciate how you keep things simple and geared toward working parents. I am subscribed to several channels of stay-at-home moms, too, and enjoy and learn a lot from them, but not everyone has time to make homemade bread and everything from scratch. You bring in a much needed perspective. Have a wonderful week!
Last year, right after thanksgiving I placed a Walmart delivery order. I was planning a massive baking day with my Mother in Law. Day of baking/delivery order-we’re waiting on the delivery while baking the items we had the ingredients for. Order is on the way, thank goodness! She pulls in the driveway, gets out of her car and starts to walk to my front door. Turns around and gets back in her car and leaves. I called the store m they said my order was canceled. I was so confused. They sent someone else out with my order, which was fantastic. Twenty minutes after they delivered my stuff, the original delivery driver came back with my order. She said the store told her I had cancelled my order, so she took it back. I ended up donating the food.
Just catching up on your videos but I gotta say you look SO pretty here! I love that hairstyle on you with the little curls around your face and your super fresh clean makeup look! Gorgeous!!!
What was the weather like? How much were you tipping? You said you lived near so that wasn't the issue.....the highest tippers get the drivers, especially at night.
Back in 2020, my cat was very sick & I really couldn't leave him alone so I used Instacart for groceries (Aldi). I knew it would be considered a bulk order (large family) so I factored in timing, weather (nearly nighttime but dry outside) & the trouble of loading their car & unloading. The young lady who brought everything was so sweet, I went back to the Instacart app & added another $20. She made sure everything was neatly stacked on my porch & even knocked to make sure I knew my order was there. I really wish every delivery driver was as nice as that young lady. Long story, sorry. But I agree that tipping extra helps ensure a better experience.
I've only done Walmart delivery once and that was because I didn't want to deal with the busy parking lot during the holiday season last year. My order came 4 hours late, but I still got it the same day. I did not do any refrigerated or frozen items just because I wasn't sure about it being delivered on time. I personally like shopping in store myself.
Take the picnic roast brrown it and throw it the crockpot with some taco seasoning and a can of that salsa verde.. easy pork tacos. I make that weekly so good!
This just happened to me yesterday! Delivery was supposed to be by 4….(and yeah they were texting me substitutes etc) at 4:30 they said sorry it’s delayed 2 hours..so I waited but by 7 still not here..option of canceling or rescheduling…so had it delivered today but I needed stuff last night for dinner..ugh! I will say this never has happened before and I’ve had delivery for years now.
Yes! Something similar happened to me 3 times in a row! A local grocery store uses shipt for their delivery service and once the shopper stole all of my groceries! The customer service rep said they checked the cameras and luckily I wasn't charged but the person just walked out of the store with the cart. The second time the shopper canceled mid shop and the app never told me, so I kept messaging the person and hours later they said they canceled. 7 hours later after a big hassle I did end up getting my groceries. The last time I only waited a few minutes past the eta before calling (they had checked out over an hour earlier). The customer service rep said the shopper would beleaving the store soon and my groceries would be there in 20 minutes. An hour later they arrived. I stopped ordering from them.
Jen, I totally agree with you that you don't have to put meat and 3 sides with rolls on table every night. I ALWAYS depend on plan ahead meals, and see to it that the proteins are already cooked each weekend, in addition to having the fruit and veg prepared, too. I DID make my teenage daughter prepare her own meal if she wanted something different than what I prepared for dinner, but did the same as you - easy air fryer type proteins. I am not and never was a short order cook! I have used Walmart delivery since they got it in my area and have the failure to deliver happen maybe 3 times in what 5 or 6 years? It seems here that the delivery person fails to come to the store and pick it up. Once they delivered to wrong house but it was next door, so it was fine. I have learned to call my store and then ask for delivery when they answer the phone. That gets me the right person to talk to! TFS.
The Dolly coconut cake is amazing! I use grocery delivery and it is amazing. There have been a few hiccups such as missing items or extra items but it is so convenient I don’t care what happens. They are very good about crediting my account.
We've had things similar go wrong - not as big of an order. But had at least 2 orders just sit for hours past the delivery time, and nobody able to see where it is, why it hasn't been delivered. One I understood as it was at the end of an ice storm we had, and while the roads were clear I get that drivers were probably hard to get. We had our order get delivered to the wrong person and vice versa. And while I was told I could keep those groceries and use or throw out, I had to reorder my entire order for the next day. Yes the reorder all is convenient, but frustrating.
I've had a similar situation with Walmart delivery. I had ordered my groceries and set the no contact delivery time. The app showed my order was in process, my delivery time came and no delivery. I checked the app to see what happened, The app said delivery was cancelled. I called Walmart and come to find out, the guy shopped for my items and cancelled the delivery stating no one was home. Walmart said this wasn't the first time this has happened with that delivery guy. A Walmart associate shopped for my items and delivered them to me, they also gave me a eCard credit.
OH! This used to happen to me all the time in 2022. I quit shopping at Walmart for a good 6 or 8 months because this kept happening. I ended up just calling the store my order was coming from. THEY WERE CLOSED and here I was, waiting for my delivery. They told me that they didn't have enough Dashers available to pick up my order. Sometimes they wouldn't have shoppers available to even pick my order. It was so frustrating. I ended up switching to Instacart for awhile but now they've become problematic so i'm back to Walmart. I also got the Hy-Vee delivery thing on Super Bowl Sunday for $29 or something.. a great deal. I usually just buy the loss leaders and the good deals with Ibotta at Hy-Vee because it is so much more expensive but I've never had issues with Hy-Vee!
That’s super interesting. I hear a lot of my friends here in town have lots of problems with HyVee delivery and pickup! Mostly out of stock items and bizarre substitutions.
@@Jen-Chapin Oh wow. My Hy-Vee seems to be on top of it... though I always select no substitutions since i'm buying all sale stuff and inevitably they will text me to ask if they can substitute an item for something far more expensive. I haven't had issues with items missing or anything like that. Instacart started blaming ME because there's always an issue with my order. Those shopped pick like 3 orders at the same time... i'm sure my $1.89 cent cinnamon rolls rolled into someone else's bag but somehow that's my fault. Instacart said I should pay the extra fee for faster service so they'll only assign it to a shopper without stacking orders... lol what a convenient way to squeeze more money out of me! I very much look forward to the day when the streetcar extension is done in Kansas City and I can go back to my regular bus route grocery shopping. For now the streets are such a trainwreck I would have to walk miles out of the way with my groceries. Hard pass there! Once it is done, it'll drop off practically right on the doorstep of Whole Foods, so that'll be nice for me.
Jen I thoroughly enjoyed watching your Walmart grocery haul so sorry to hear that your order got canceled surprising that you didn’t get a notification that your order was canceled definitely not ideal to be waiting for your order but not get any notification if it was canceled since they give notifications that it’s on its being prepared having notifications that an order is canceled is equally as important as its status of it being delivered
Yes, that's happened to me before. If someone accepts your order and doesn't finish it then it doesn't go back up to be delivered. I've had it happen with a Christmas present, I did delivery from the store, 2 days before Christmas and a couple times on "shipping" orders that were actually delivered from the store.
My understanding of the delivery process is when you select 3 hours or 1 hour or less, its the Spark delivery driver that goes in and shops for those items. They are independent contractors that work for Spark. Not sure what happened with your order, but sounds like even though it was shopped it may not have been sitting at the WM
We use their delivery service as well & we hadn't had any problems, until we did. We placed our order and everything was delivered except one item. I get an email saying that the item wasn't deliverable and would be shipped (paper towels😵). Long story short, we never got the paper towels and we were denied a refund!
Hi Jen, I do home delivery all the time from Meijer in SE MI. I have never had that happen, but I have had many items out of stock or I have been given someone’s items and they got mine,. This only happens when the shopper is shopping for multi orders. I try not to get upset as they people are just trying to make a living. Oh I just bout the Vitamix Pro Series from QVC and I am so excited . It should be here by next week just in time for Thanksgiving. Great video, it always Amazes me what it cost to buy groceries these days.
I had a Walmart pickup order over $400 cancelled once. The notification said I wouldn' t be charged for the order. Funny thing is, I had already picked up the order. I did go to the store later and made things right.
A molasses story…one year I volunteered to make the pieces for gingerbread houses for my daughters 3rd grade class. I went through a ridiculous amount of molasses. I bought out the entire stock in the store and had to go back at 4 am in my pajamas and slippers after the night shift stocked the shelves (when our giant eagle store was still open 24 hours). Between the molasses and burnt fingers from trimming the hot misshaped pieces I swore I’d never do that again. So 4 years later when my son was in 3rd grade…I volunteered to make the green royal icing for the houses. I was finding dried green icing and smeared green food coloring paste for months and months afterwards in my kitchen in places that I have no idea how it got there. 3 years later when my last child was in 3rd grade…I threw away the volunteer sign up form for gingerbread houses. I figured I had done my penance and served my time in gingerbread house hell. Addendum: when making the royal icing, I found a bag of spoiled potatoes at the top of my kitchen stairs and bothered a swarm of flying gnats that went all through my kitchen. I had to run to the store to get raid to spray. I needed to wash down all of my surfaces after spraying the raid so I didn’t accidentally contaminate the icing with insect killer. And did you know you need powdered egg whites for royal icing? And it’s only sold in specialty food stores? Yeah…I didn’t know either. Or that you needed food coloring paste, not liquid. The closest food specialty store was 25 minutes away, one way…and I believe I had to make 3 separate trips in 2 days…like I said…gingerbread house hell
I’ve had soooo many incidents with the delivery, I started pretty close to when they started delivering and I have problems quite often I don’t know why I keep doing it but it’s convenient 😂 one order no one would deliver it because there wasn’t a tip, that’s what the manager said.It started you didn’t have to tip on top of the delivery fee. I still tip but I wait to see how the delivery goes, I’ve had people throw the order on my porch, smashed breads, donuts missing out of the box, the list goes on !
Walmart delivery was awesome a couple years ago. BUT now I have nothing but issues and don't use it anymore. Always things missing and its nearly impossible to get someone on the phone at the store to correct an issue. Maybe just my store is like this???
Ive been getting WalMart delivery for 5 years. I got spoiled when i had knee replacement and kep using it. In that amount of time, ive had 2 minor issues. The most recent was similar to yours where it kept being postponed and i finally decided to just change the delivery time to the next day so i didnt have to cancel and reorder. My guess is they were super busy and no drivers. My only real issue is it appeared that my 1 frozen item and milk hadnt been kept in the freezer/fridge because both were warm and not frozen. Not a huge deal. They refund with no real questions asked.
I live in Illinois and work at a major grocery/drug store that is extremely understaffed. Everywhere you go there are now hiring signs. As far with all these grocery food pick ups are crazy busy. Minimal employees are busting their ass to get these put together so if you are capable do your own shopping.
This has happened to me 3 times I am done with Walmart delivery and pick up its to unreliable so I use Target now for the past year never have these problems there.
Ohhh…those puppy eyes….they get me every time!!😍 I’m sorry you had trouble with your grocery order but it was helpful that you shared your experience so that when it happens to us, we won’t feel alone! 😉 Thanks for an interesting video today! I don’t know why, I’ve been shopping for food since I started working at a little grocery when I was 14, (now 65), but I still like to see what others buy and how they use or what they are going to make with their food!! 😂🥰
The same thing happened to me with Meijers 3 days b4 Thanksgiving 2 years ago. I believe they use Shipt. The shopper kept texting me. Last text was they were checking out, then nothing. Several calls, nearly 2 hrs later they said my card didn't go thru.! Huh?🤯 They claimed a computer glitch with their system, due to heavy traffic during Thanksgiving week. Which is why I ordered Mon for a Tues morning delivery! This was a few months after quadruple heart surgery and I still wasn't feeling up to carrying heavy bags up 15 stairs. The whole reason for ordering was to avoid going to the store during the busiest week of the year.
Yes!! $300 and here is the freaky part. I always do no contact delivery. I leave a thanks note with $20 on the front storm door. Always works great. I never open the door. I take my yappy little dogs and go to the back of the house. I wait. I wait more. Finally, I go out to living room and check camera. She unpacked all groceries. Went to her car. Made a call. Came back to front door and wait for it **took everything back to her car!!** slammed her trunk, backed down driveway and left. Best part. She took the $20 tip off the door too! Walmart told me sorry. I told them i had it on camera if theyd like to see? They cancelled the charge on my card and gave me $5. Gee. Thanks.
@@mysticmom616 not necessarily. If someone takes the order (the delivery or whatever) and never completes it (cancels or otherwise), which is what happened because it never said it was out for delivery, then it just sits there in the system and will never be delivered. It has to be cancelled. It's happened to me a few times now, where they told me that someone took the order then cancelled.
Oh wow. That is strange! I live in the city so I always have to have them hand my groceries to me. My neighbors don't do this for some reason. Can't count the number of times i've scooped up a walmart delivery order that is sitting on the sidewalk in downtown where thousands of people are walking by. The little tag they put on the bag just has the last name so if I don't know the tenant, it can take some real sleuthing to try to figure out who it belongs to. I've tried a few times and couldn't locate the owner... Walmart just says no problem, we'll shop the order again and redeliver it when they call about their order.. go ahead and keep it or donate it. !!! I just wanna get the groceries to the people!
My daughter did DoorDash in college. If it was a no contact delivery, they had to take a picture of the items left on the doorstep or inside the garage, etc.and upload it in order to mark it delivered. I'm assuming this person unloaded the groceries, uploaded a picture, marked the order delivered and then loaded them back up.
I had the exact same problem with Walmart about 6 months ago. I had to cancel my order, the only difference is that I had to wait 6 business days for my money to be put back into my bank account. Like you I still don't know what happened. So seeing that I'm on a pension I had to wait for my money to be in my bank. 💛 from 🇨🇦
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Just watching your videos I feel like I have permission to offer some dodgy dinners now and again. You are so right! done is better than perfect. My daughter and I had porridge with protein powder and a banana for dinner last night lol. Rock'n the breakfast for dinner.
I've had a lot of grocery deliveries go awry. We're never angry about it, we go with the flow, of course mistakes happen. BUT the WORST was when the deliverer was almost two hours late. She pounded on the door and demanded my husband help her put the groceries on the porch because, "it's a lot - it's so much - I can't carry it all". She was swearing at us and making a scene. She sped off and we we got about a quarter of our order. I still don't get it. I reported it, and was told a supervisor would call us back...never happened.
If you didn’t know, Walmart uses a third party to deliver. I’ve had a few “issues” with them. One of my orders were Canceled and they couldn’t tell me WHY. Well. I KNOW why. The Driver KEEPS your order. It’s SOOO beyond frustrating. And GUESS WHAT?? There’s NO REPERCUSSIONS they can do to these drivers/delivery people. YES, I had a “nice” tip attached to my order. So no one can say they did this to me because I DIDNT TIP THEM. That’s not true. So. What did I do?? I REMOVED the tip before the order fully processed. NO WAY were they getting a tip for an order they Did NOT deliver!! My other issue Was I never got my order because they DIDN’T HAVE THE DRIVERS to deliver it. Thanks to the driver that STOLE my order - when I order now, I No longer choose the OPTION “Leave at my door”. I ALWAYS choose “SIGN FOR MY ORDER”. TAKE NOTES PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!! 😂. ALWAYS SIGN FOR ORDER. #LESSONLEARNED Sorry that happened to you Jen
I think that this is only in the US, that they can leave your orders at your door. Here in Europe you have to receive your packages, sometimes to sign for them. If you want to receive a package, you have to be at home.
It's possible that your order was stolen by the driver of the delivery company that handles their deliveries. My daughter works there and they have had quite a bit of theft recently through the delivery service.
OMG! That grocery drama. I don't know about that sort of thing as I've only ordered groceries once . Years ago I was babysitting my grand daughter and didn't have her car seat so I ordered stuff online. The bananas weren't ripe and they sent me orange juice with those piths in it. Gross! I said : never again.
Most likely the reason you could not go pick up your order is because the shopper was not shopping at your local store. They were further away. If you do pick up, they will have the order at your local store by the pick up time. Hope this helps!
I'm not sure about that because I can get delivery from 2 stores, both are 5 minutes or so away. I have to pick a store and it's always come from there and there is a price difference on some items.
My family and I are also cutting back on eating out. We're cooking at home all seven days at the moment because everything is so expensive and our budget is so tight. Have you ever tried taco spaghetti? It's a one pan meal, super easy and everyone likes tacos, right? I highly recommend it, very yummy.😊 Have a good weekend!
The exact same thing happened to me once a year or so back when I placed a Walmart order for delivery. The Instacart guy and I were told the order was ready by Walmart but he waited and waited...and I waited and waited and he got tired of waiting and canceled my order! I was paying for Walmart+ at the time so I let Walmart know about the ordeal and then I canceled the Walmart+. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for a service that isn't worth the price of digital webpage its written on. Pick up is much better.
A bit off topic -- has anyone had free stuff in their Walmart pick up orders? My last 3 orders has had anywhere from $7 to $20 worth of stuff I didn’t order. I called and they said dont worry about it. I wasn’t charged for any of it. Didn’t know if this is some weird freebie marketing thing or just goofy shoppers putting stuff in my order by mistake. Or just someone trying to bless me. Weird. /Great video. ❤
Sometimes I get items I didn't order. If they are shopping multiple orders at once, I think they accidently put items in the wrong bin. I once got a ton of expensive cleaning products, toilet paper, and paper towels. I took it all back to the store.
I have too…30 double AA batteries once and I called and they said just keep! And another time the driver dropped off someone else’s order full of bakery donuts, expensive ramen, sausage and bacon, juices, I was mad as my order wasn’t delivered but they told me to keep it all as they can’t take food back once delivered and they sent out my original order a couple hours later.
Hi, Jen....you have the patience of Job....You are right about Walmart customer service....I have Walmart Plus and I LOVE IT!! They make returns so easy ..the food is actually delivered by SPARK drivers...Kinda like Instacart, only the hiring process is very detailed ....it can take up to 4 months to get hired on!!! They make great money, and they deserve it!!! Tyfs this video ..I laughed so hard at either Murphy or (Cooper) is that your other doggo 😂...kept photo bombing 😂😂😂😂

I get an email saying that the item wasn't deliverable and would be shipped (paper towels😵). Long story short, we never got the paper towels and we were denied a refund!
Omg that sucks!
Gingerbread house hell…lmao!!!
As I'm sure you realized, its inconsiderate to place a huge order at 4pm due in a short amount of time.
Not really, because they have until 10pm to deliver it. Which is 6 hours.
what type of dog is milo ?
When you mentioned Homemade pizza 🍕. What’s your recipe you use for a Good pizza crust? Is it in your cookbook by chance? I have if so 😊
Yes there is a recipe in there for pizza crust :)
It’s happened to me before and I just reordered my order too. My Walmart + just renewed and I use it a lot.
Jen Chaplin you have the best videos! They are fun, informative and challenging!! Love ya Sweet friend ❤
I put an order in for Walmart grocery delivery. I got none of what I actually ordered and got 3 pounds of shrimp. I'm allergic to seafood
Ohhh…those puppy eyes….they get me every time!!😍
I’m sorry you had trouble with your grocery order but it was helpful that you shared your experience so that when it happens to us, we won’t feel alone! 😉
Thanks for an interesting video today! I don’t know why, I’ve been shopping for food since I started working at a little grocery when I was 14, (now 65), but I still like to see what others buy and how they use or what they are going to make with their food!! 😂🥰
Me too 😂
The same thing happened to me with Meijers 3 days b4 Thanksgiving 2 years ago.
Gee. Thanks.
That is bizarre lol!!
I’m thinking someone took her order too.
I never like getting the express service for $5 or $10 bc the shoppers sometimes have a history of flaking mid shopping with no updates.
New series: Dodgy Dinners 😅
I've had a lot of grocery deliveries go awry. We're never angry about it, we go with the flow, of course mistakes happen. BUT the WORST was when the deliverer was almost two hours late. She pounded on the door and demanded my husband help her put the groceries on the porch because, "it's a lot - it's so much - I can't carry it all". She was swearing at us and making a scene. She sped off and we we got about a quarter of our order. I still don't get it. I reported it, and was told a supervisor would call us back...never happened.
You look so pretty today!
#LESSONLEARNED
Sorry that happened to you Jen
I think that this is only in the US, that they can leave your orders at your door. Here in Europe you have to receive your packages, sometimes to sign for them. If you want to receive a package, you have to be at home.
In my house everyone eats what I make for dinner. If you don't like it you don't eat or if old enough make something for yourself.
I dropped Walmart plus as i had issues with every order. I've been using Target.
That messy bun look is super cute on you!
And the sweater, where is that from?
Here is the sweater! amzn.to/3ufAY7H
Thank you!
@2squeakiepigs418 I agree, the sweater makes the whole look!
It's possible that your order was stolen by the driver of the delivery company that handles their deliveries. My daughter works there and they have had quite a bit of theft recently through the delivery service.
So off topic, but your hair looks great!
Gerber is a great insurance n price is good they have been around for yrs n yrs ...👍😏
❤whoo! Whoooo!! Jen time!!
We don't have any grocery delivery service in my area. Only thing is grocery pickup.
My local Walmart hasn’t had Kosher salt for at least two months!
Dollar Tree has kosher salt in canisters
Ok it’s not just me then!
I was just able to get some after the past two months also.
I put guacamole on my toast all the time. Go Conner!
Most likely the reason you could not go pick up your order is because the shopper was not shopping at your local store. They were further away. If you do pick up, they will have the order at your local store by the pick up time. Hope this helps!
Interesting!
I haven’t but that sounds good! I’ve made chicken spaghetti 😂
You picked such a good combo of ingredients that someone else wanted them... 😉
Right?!
Looks like a good haul!
I love your sweater, Jen!!
Walmart for me is hit and miss. My first delivery was awful but they’ve gotten better.
Are your biscuits (the Dolly ones) are they scones? They look like scones. And we call your cookies, biscuits 😳🇳🇿
Today I had a Walmart order canceled by Instacart shopper. They said Walmart is having computer issues.
Anyone that calls grocery shopping a grocery haul probably needs to be on a diet!!
OK boomer
