    Video of the inside of the tank after 8 years !
    I shall be removing the bike from its #VacBag in a few weeks and have bought myself an endoscope camera to see the condition of the inside...
    On many forums I've heard that Por15 peel/flakes off, come back in a few weeks to see for yourself !
    A short video on how I sealed my tank.

    I'm sealing two tanks today but way before I thought of doing por-15. I had vinegar filled to top of both tanks. And went to car wash this morning which helped the decreasing process out huge. Now doing the the metal prep as we speak. Vinegar has 5 percent acidity which will get rid of most rust and varnish. But this kit seems awesome and thanks for the video for insight

    DRYING?!
    What was the state after the blow dry?
    My tank is coated with surface rust ( after electrolysis, quick rinse with muriatic acid, neutralising, blow dry).
    How to deal with this before sealing? Would a citric acid solution help?

    Hi. You must have mis-read the instructions. Once you have swirled the POR15 around you don't need to leave the tank in static positions to coat the inside...you just pour it out. It needs air to cure anyway. You have followed the instructions of how to CLEAN the inside with the POR CLEANER and DEGREASER

    • @swampusmaximus
      @swampusmaximus  3 года назад

      I didn't, I let the excess drain to on end of the tank before draining from the tank. www.frost.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/File-1551709782.pdf

    • @meckanicall

      @@swampusmaximus That's not what you show...read what you say in big yellow words! at 10:40....you are leaving the tank in different positions to coat the tank....Sorry this is not the instructions that Frost say...you roll the tank around and pour it out. leaving the tank to soak in different positions just wastes time as the the resin only cures in the presence of air. It's no big deal doing what you did but misleading for others who attempt to copy you.

      @@meckanicall This was done nearly 8 years ago and whatever I did worked, all still fine with no issues, at the beginning of the video I mentioned that this was a guide and one would assume that any person doing this themselves would read the instructions supplied with the product in case of any changes etc. I really do believe that you have pointed something out that's not really an issue, but thanks anyway :)

    my experience with this stuff so far is it would have been better to file my balls with a wood rasp than to use this.
    it peeled away from 90% of the surface inside the tank after about 36 of the 96 hour curing time. I spent about 10 hours prepping the tank and when i thought it was good enough i went ahead and pored the liner in before it rusted again. it looked good for the first 24 hours.

      Understandable thought, but the active ingredient in metal prep is phosphoric acid, which is not dangerous. It's used in heaps of foods, and not least beers, for pH adjustment, and provided it's diluted with a lot of water as was done here, is not harmful.
