They likely will if this remaster does well. Since the initial game didn't sell well they most likely weren't willing to do a sequel until they build the fanbase for it. Lest the sequel suffer the exact same fate as this game originally did. (Cost way too much, didn't even break even, bankrupt the company). There was no money to pay the employees let alone repay the $75 million loan. Yeah pretty sure THQ doesn't want a repeat of that considering the fanbase for this game is still relatively small. They're playing it safe like 38 Studios should have done with this game in the first place. I highly doubt they would have bought the rights to this game without intent to continue making games for it.
Like others have said, they most likely will. I suspect it will just be easier to market a sequel if people actually know what game it's a sequel to. So you know, put a "re-mastered" version of the original out there for the current generation and then develop something better. They will definitely release an expansion or two.

Mainly about the improvements made. The positives are about the same things that made the game great in 2012. The game play, so why buy the remastered version.

The Fate System is an amazing concept that should really be used in more games. The amount of variation they made by mixing the 3 base classes into new ones was my favorite part.
I know there’s a lot more to it but so many of these “remasters” just feel like the same game but the lighting is just turned way down to hide bad graphics.
Forget it, players always beg for remasters and will stick up for developers being lazy and releasing old games with barely anything new for 30 dollars... That's the video game market nowadays.

This game was my first PS3 platinum I was so proud to complete this game in its entirety. I even bought all dlc and beat them as well. Can’t wait to do it all over again

Freaking love this game! I didn't even know this was going to come out again I've been hoping for ps5 or hell even ps4 to have some kind of backwards compatibility just to play this game. @@p-o2938 It's essentially a typical mmo in regards to everything but online(and obviously other human players) and combat aspects. the combat was actually really good, story subpar as is most mmo's. It just a fun game to play and I personally don't remember any annoyances with it. To each their own, I'll play it again when it goes on sale.

I think THQ Nordic wants to give Kingdoms of Amalur the chance it never got under Curt Schilling and 38 Studios. If enough people buy this and the new DLC. It might give THQ all the incentive they need to make more Kingdoms of Amalur titles.
I could not stop playing this game when it came out. The mesh of physical attacks and magic were so well done and the story had me engaged and wanting more. I’ve had very few games I’ve enjoyed enough to just get completely lost in the world but this was one of the first.
One of my favorite action RPGs. The gameplay is fantastic especially for its age and the skill tree decisions really do affect how you play the game. I always thought the world was fascinating and I heard that all the original DLC is included in the remaster so I'm super excited to play it again
I’m about 6 hours in and love it. I’m into the “old” charm of it cause it’s simpler than what comes out these days. I don’t really have the time to go deep into a thousand different systems so being able to dive in, play however i want and go around beating up monsters is so great.
Just got this game, played it for a straight 3 hours, and now I'm going to get food just so I can get back on. This game is FANTASTIC. Surprisingly nice graphics, it is literally what I have dream about as a kid, literally just you have a character you can choose your path etc. It's an amazing story, I find myself barley skipping over important dialog which is rare for me. The weapons are AMAZING, so many different types of magic weapons, combos etc. It's like if you took world of War craft, made it single player, gave it a REALLY good combat system, etc. Genuinely this is the game I have always dreamed about and after 12 years of it existing I finally found it. Btw it's very cheap as well, I got it on sale for 17 bucks but normally it's 26 dollars.
This game is one of my favorite RPG's! It's beautifully designed and the game mechanics are so much fun. I played for hours, beat it and felt sad that it ended. There was so much controversy around the game too, which made it more interesting lol
I have both on Steam. I can tell you this has been remastered and it was done very well. I am playing 4K 60 on this with no issues and it looks amazing. There are scaling issues on the original with text, menus and such at 4K. The game is some 30GB larger too. I can look at this video and see the difference between the old and definitely can when playing it. Definitely worth the $25 that I paid on Steam with it including the next DLC. I think people were expecting a next gen remake or something. I never expected that and as such am not disappointed.
I loved this when it first came out, but considering my student budget, I'll wait for a sale and potentially more content being added on for it. Just watching this really makes me want to jump back in though.
It really just depends on your context. You should have 60% on steam if you own it there already but if not then waiting is probably the best idea. This game went completely under my radar so I picked it up. They definitely could have improve more like the menus but the game alone is obviously worth it. They also fixed an issue the original had where the area you are in gets locked to the level you are.
I can tell KOA Re-reckoning has been tweaked a little. I got through 50% percent of the game without dying. But in the 2012 ps3 version even on casual difficulty I got crushed, a lot. The DLC's aren't bad either. I paid way less than $40 bucks for my copy, it was more like $15 brand new. If you can get the game for that price, it's worth it. I give it 4 stars.
I remember playing this game when it first released. I was really surprised that not many people talked about it. I ended up getting it for pc and Xbox 360. It was a great game. I think I still have the original 360 one floating around somewhere.
I loved playing this game back in the day. I played a warrior/mage hybrid with chakrams. The main story took me around 25 hours but I continued to play it and put in an additional 50 hours doing the side quests and faction stuff which was kinda like a secondary main quest. Also it is one of those games where you can continue to play and explore after finishing the main story which is cool.

As I grow older, I've found graphics mean less and less. As long as the art style of conveying what it's supposed to and there gameplay is smooth and the mechanics work well, I'm a happy guy. Also part of the reason why I'm interested in Stadia. I can continue playing next gen games without dropping money on anything other than the game itself. But that's a whole other conversation.
@@YeOldeMachine yeah man, I get it. I was like that especially in my mid 20s. Whenever I would try to play an older game I just couldn't. Even PS3/Xbox 360 games looked too bad for me to play. But nowadays it seems like everything has to be 4k top of the line graphics with ray tracing enabled to be a good game or something. I'm happy with 1080p@60fps on the games I've been playing on Stadia. And I've been going back to some old PS1 PS2 and PS3 games that I have wondering why I ever stopped playing them.

I played this game so long ago when it first came out on the xbox 360 as a demo, and I got the chance to play the full game on a friend's console, we took turns playing for 3 days straight. I fell in love and now that I have my own computer, I'd love to revisit it again. Funny thing is, for years I couldn't remember what the name of it was, but I just searched "rpg where you wake up in a pile of dead bodies" and found it at last.
I didn't expect this game to be that good when I saw it on psplus, but i liked the fantasy aesthetic, so I got it. Little did I know, it was actually really good
I've been a fan since this game came out and bought the re-remaster. This game is a far cry from perfect but this is....not a good/accurate review. I dunno how but you somehow managed to praise its shittier qualities and disregard the aspects that made this game a cult classic in the first place.
Apart from the lack of any real effort to improve the graphics(this is more of a port than a remaster tbh), this game is totally worth the 40 bucks(30something from Walmart), and being able to play it on a console above the 720 resolution on my 4k tv is nice. Also I think good sales for this could get us a high-quality next-gen sequel.
Like a few others have mentioned, I too recently got this from being a PS Plus subscriber and am having a blast playing it! Although it can be a bit buggy at times (Yeah, I'm looking at you "Glitch-him-out-of-the-immediate-combat-area (quarter of the way across the zone)-and-stick-him-wayyyyy-up-in-the-air" bug), it IS a breath of fresh air (world/gameplay/storyline/etc) to mix up the monotony ESO has kinda gotten to be over the years! I've currently got ~200hrs of gameplay in and am probably only 1/4 of the way through the game (just finished up questing/exploring the whole of Dalentarth and have moved on to the Plains of Erathell), but that's probably just me being me and exploring every nook and cranny of each area and doing every side quest/task.

When this came out everyone was still making there way through skyrim. I think that was a big factor in it not doing well at the time. I did play it but didn't finish it. Couldn't get in to the lore after playing skyrim. Damn you skyrim, you ruined a lot of games for me 😄

Go check out a side by side comparison. It does look alot better. Not a comeplete HD overhaul, but honestly that would look really out of place with the old school combat/systems.
KOA was ahead of its time in 2012. I’ve played a few hours so far on PC. The new “very hard” difficulty is good. The FOV slider and camera options are a definite plus. Other than those 2 I don’t notice much. The graphics are slightly better, quicker rendering. If you haven’t played the OG version then definitely pick this baby up.
You aren't missing much by saying it's early game footage, nothing has changed from the original, it's sadly a lazy remaster port with the same amount of issues and bugs the original had.

I don't know if you played it when it was new, but its worth it. It is a great journey and a fun story, and an amazing world. I spent my entire multi-year GameStop career pushing this game on people because almost no one knew it existed.
I’m sold. I found it on the microsoft store today, saw pics and reminded me of fable 2. I absolutely love Fable, nothing tops it for me but I’ve played it enough times since its release, so this feels like something fresh. Its weird I never ever heard of this game… maybe I did cause I tend to keep up with games, but this one slipped, I haven’t even finished the video but I said screw it and bought it right away with 60% off. Games are just not fun these days, I’m stuck on the old (Fable, oblivion etc) why is it so hard for developers to feed us this type of game? Purely RP, the fight is simple, versatile and has variety, with romance options, owning property and etc. that’s why I still love Fable, there hasn’t really been a game like it
I played the demo back in the day so I could get a new armour and weapon for Mass Effect. And then I never once used that Armour or weapon. I did really like the Demo and wanted to play the full game, but it wasn't on PSN and I couldn't find a physical copy anywhere so I ended up completely forgetting about it. Then I saw it last month on PSN. And better yet, it was free with PlayStation Plus. Been playing it non-stop since and it's honestly really fun. I don't care if the graphics don't compare to today's shit because for me, the graphics aren't that important. The load times aren't that bad for me and the gameplay, while it took some getting used to is perfectly fine. The setting though, that's what really does it for me. The story and the world and the lore. So good.

Started playing it last week because it became free on PlayStation and I love it, it feels like it’s an old game like one of those 90s arcade games and so fun with so much depth and things you can do, the armor and weapons alone make the love the game, the destiny cards are beautifully done and honestly the only thing I can criticize if the camera movement but I’m also a lil pansy when it comes to that, it’s an amazing game and I’m so glad I got it for free
Set this game to download Saturday afternoon. Sat down to play it and before I knew it Sunday night had rolled around. Nearly 20 hours in and I haven't even started the main quest line. Even playing as a stock fighter is engaging, but the option to mix up playstyles is always available. Only complaint I have is that mechanically it's not what I would call innovative, and at times the world feels like a depopulated WoW server. Other than those quibbles I love it; it gets an 8/10 from me.
Based on the gameplay in the video it looks like it would be fun, but I feel like I'd never get used to that camera style of never staying centered. If nothing else watching this just makes me want the next elder scrolls game that much more.
When this came out, i played the hell out of it, was a fable-esque, fantasy RPG that pulled me in, i remember when i finished it and i was anxious to see a sequel, that never happened, when the re-reckoning was announced i was VERY excited, but seeing reviews and hearing that it's basically just a re-release more than a remaster, was disappointing, i'll definitely still be picking this one up, one day, when it hits like $15-20.
If you want a sequel you should pick up the re-reckoning, what they're probably doing is gauging how may people would be interested in seeing an amalur 2.

I got this with EA's Play Pro and it's exactly what I wanted: an old school, simple RPG without a billion options that muddy the experience. It harkens back to a simpler time when you didn't need a spreadsheet to figure out how to play a game. Imagine walking into a 1990s arcade and playing the best hack and slash game you've ever played. That's KoA: Re-Re. It's just a fun game and the Re-ing cleaned up the graphics too so when I play on my PC at 3440x1440 at 144 FPS it's seamless. This is the game I forgot I wanted to be playing.
Honestly this game is fun for awhile but it kinda just drags on and on, the story (which should be much better considering the designers) is very basic with only a few cool or fun things going on. I couldn’t bring myself to finish it even when I tried going back to it a long time after and I’m the type to to finish any game I play good or bad... that says something lol
I played it again (the normal game) because I wanted to see if I like the re-reconing, but I noticed that I don'T like the fact that you're bound to the ground.... cant jump, cant explore like you are used to...
It was brilliant back then. £35 for the same game now.. I'm not feeling that given it looks similar. Personally will wait for a sale. But if you haven't played it, it's worth the money.

KoA probably didn't get the attention it should have first time around because Skyrim was still consuming gamers' time.
The best part is they fixed the levelling so you don't have to fully worry about being one shotted now for going in a new area

I wish theyd remake Legend Of Dragoon. That game was absolutely incredible as a kid. turn based but if you timed combos it made the attacks fun

Funny, i rcently got a notification from a reddit group in which they where collecting signs to have the game remade.
I know there’s a lot more to it but so many of these “remasters” just feel like the same game but the lighting is just turned way down to hide bad graphics.

This game was my first PS3 platinum I was so proud to complete this game in its entirety. I even bought all dlc and beat them as well. Can’t wait to do it all over again

Freaking love this game! I didn't even know this was going to come out again I've been hoping for ps5 or hell even ps4 to have some kind of backwards compatibility just to play this game. Then I found out this was getting remastered and now I'm over the moon. To say I'm obsessed is an understatement haha

@@p-o2938 It's essentially a typical mmo in regards to everything but online(and obviously other human players) and combat aspects. the combat was actually really good, story subpar as is most mmo's. It just a fun game to play and I personally don't remember any annoyances with it. To each their own, I'll play it again when it goes on sale.

I think THQ Nordic wants to give Kingdoms of Amalur the chance it never got under Curt Schilling and 38 Studios. If enough people buy this and the new DLC. It might give THQ all the incentive they need to make more Kingdoms of Amalur titles.
I could not stop playing this game when it came out. The mesh of physical attacks and magic were so well done and the story had me engaged and wanting more. I’ve had very few games I’ve enjoyed enough to just get completely lost in the world but this was one of the first.
One of my favorite action RPGs. The gameplay is fantastic especially for its age and the skill tree decisions really do affect how you play the game. I always thought the world was fascinating and I heard that all the original DLC is included in the remaster so I'm super excited to play it again
I played it on PS3 a long time ago. It was one of the BEST experiences I've ever had. So glad its back
I’m about 6 hours in and love it. I’m into the “old” charm of it cause it’s simpler than what comes out these days. I don’t really have the time to go deep into a thousand different systems so being able to dive in, play however i want and go around beating up monsters is so great.
Just got this game, played it for a straight 3 hours, and now I'm going to get food just so I can get back on. This game is FANTASTIC. Surprisingly nice graphics, it is literally what I have dream about as a kid, literally just you have a character you can choose your path etc. It's an amazing story, I find myself barley skipping over important dialog which is rare for me. The weapons are AMAZING, so many different types of magic weapons, combos etc. It's like if you took world of War craft, made it single player, gave it a REALLY good combat system, etc. Genuinely this is the game I have always dreamed about and after 12 years of it existing I finally found it. Btw it's very cheap as well, I got it on sale for 17 bucks but normally it's 26 dollars.

This game is one of my favorite RPG's! It's beautifully designed and the game mechanics are so much fun. I played for hours, beat it and felt sad that it ended. There was so much controversy around the game too, which made it more interesting lol

I have both on Steam. I can tell you this has been remastered and it was done very well. I am playing 4K 60 on this with no issues and it looks amazing. There are scaling issues on the original with text, menus and such at 4K. The game is some 30GB larger too. I can look at this video and see the difference between the old and definitely can when playing it. Definitely worth the $25 that I paid on Steam with it including the next DLC.
I think people were expecting a next gen remake or something. I never expected that and as such am not disappointed.
I loved this when it first came out, but considering my student budget, I'll wait for a sale and potentially more content being added on for it. Just watching this really makes me want to jump back in though.

It really just depends on your context. You should have 60% on steam if you own it there already but if not then waiting is probably the best idea. This game went completely under my radar so I picked it up. They definitely could have improve more like the menus but the game alone is obviously worth it. They also fixed an issue the original had where the area you are in gets locked to the level you are.
I can tell KOA Re-reckoning has been tweaked a little. I got through 50% percent of the game without dying. But in the 2012 ps3 version even on casual difficulty I got crushed, a lot. The DLC's aren't bad either. I paid way less than $40 bucks for my copy, it was more like $15 brand new. If you can get the game for that price, it's worth it. I give it 4 stars.

I remember playing this game when it first released. I was really surprised that not many people talked about it. I ended up getting it for pc and Xbox 360. It was a great game. I think I still have the original 360 one floating around somewhere.

I loved playing this game back in the day. I played a warrior/mage hybrid with chakrams. The main story took me around 25 hours but I continued to play it and put in an additional 50 hours doing the side quests and faction stuff which was kinda like a secondary main quest. Also it is one of those games where you can continue to play and explore after finishing the main story which is cool.
I played the original. Really can't remember it having any role-playing, just hack and slash, open-world adventuring.

One of the most underrated RPG's ever
As I grow older, I've found graphics mean less and less. As long as the art style of conveying what it's supposed to and there gameplay is smooth and the mechanics work well, I'm a happy guy. Also part of the reason why I'm interested in Stadia. I can continue playing next gen games without dropping money on anything other than the game itself. But that's a whole other conversation.
I wish I felt like that. I'm getting older too, but I'm spoiled by how great games look now. I find i have a hard time enjoying games i used to love
@@YeOldeMachine yeah man, I get it. I was like that especially in my mid 20s. Whenever I would try to play an older game I just couldn't. Even PS3/Xbox 360 games looked too bad for me to play. But nowadays it seems like everything has to be 4k top of the line graphics with ray tracing enabled to be a good game or something. I'm happy with 1080p@60fps on the games I've been playing on Stadia. And I've been going back to some old PS1 PS2 and PS3 games that I have wondering why I ever stopped playing them.
@@TowerMike yeah, I think its a combination of looks and gameplay. I love how fluid the combat and animations are. The older games feel so stiff and/or clunky. I can barely get into Dark Souls 2 anymore. .and that was one of my favorite games ever. I hope i snap out of it, then I'll always have something to play

I played this game so long ago when it first came out on the xbox 360 as a demo, and I got the chance to play the full game on a friend's console, we took turns playing for 3 days straight. I fell in love and now that I have my own computer, I'd love to revisit it again. Funny thing is, for years I couldn't remember what the name of it was, but I just searched "rpg where you wake up in a pile of dead bodies" and found it at last.

I didn't expect this game to be that good when I saw it on psplus, but i liked the fantasy aesthetic, so I got it. Little did I know, it was actually really good
I've been a fan since this game came out and bought the re-remaster. This game is a far cry from perfect but this is....not a good/accurate review. I dunno how but you somehow managed to praise its shittier qualities and disregard the aspects that made this game a cult classic in the first place.

Apart from the lack of any real effort to improve the graphics(this is more of a port than a remaster tbh), this game is totally worth the 40 bucks(30something from Walmart), and being able to play it on a console above the 720 resolution on my 4k tv is nice.
Also I think good sales for this could get us a high-quality next-gen sequel.
Im feeling like they made this to test the waters. Low-cost, possibly highly profitable venture i say. That would explain the low effort.
Finally installed it. Played the original back in 2012 and loved this game. On PC, the loading times are great, barely 4 seconds for large areas.
Like a few others have mentioned, I too recently got this from being a PS Plus subscriber and am having a blast playing it! Although it can be a bit buggy at times (Yeah, I'm looking at you "Glitch-him-out-of-the-immediate-combat-area (quarter of the way across the zone)-and-stick-him-wayyyyy-up-in-the-air" bug), it IS a breath of fresh air (world/gameplay/storyline/etc) to mix up the monotony ESO has kinda gotten to be over the years!
I've currently got ~200hrs of gameplay in and am probably only 1/4 of the way through the game (just finished up questing/exploring the whole of Dalentarth and have moved on to the Plains of Erathell), but that's probably just me being me and exploring every nook and cranny of each area and doing every side quest/task.
Don't forget about the expansion coming next year as well. I'm definitely having a blast playing this again.

When this came out everyone was still making there way through skyrim. I think that was a big factor in it not doing well at the time. I did play it but didn't finish it. Couldn't get in to the lore after playing skyrim. Damn you skyrim, you ruined a lot of games for me 😄

re-release means all the bugs from trying to patch a game from 2012, are fixed, and we tweaked it to look better and did more in it.

Go check out a side by side comparison. It does look alot better. Not a comeplete HD overhaul, but honestly that would look really out of place with the old school combat/systems.

KOA was ahead of its time in 2012. I’ve played a few hours so far on PC. The new “very hard” difficulty is good. The FOV slider and camera options are a definite plus. Other than those 2 I don’t notice much. The graphics are slightly better, quicker rendering. If you haven’t played the OG version then definitely pick this baby up.
I fell in love with the game in 2013. I spent hours playing through the entire game and I'm excited to do it again
You aren't missing much by saying it's early game footage, nothing has changed from the original, it's sadly a lazy remaster port with the same amount of issues and bugs the original had.

I’m sold. I found it on the microsoft store today, saw pics and reminded me of fable 2. I absolutely love Fable, nothing tops it for me but I’ve played it enough times since its release, so this feels like something fresh. Its weird I never ever heard of this game… maybe I did cause I tend to keep up with games, but this one slipped, I haven’t even finished the video but I said screw it and bought it right away with 60% off. Games are just not fun these days, I’m stuck on the old (Fable, oblivion etc) why is it so hard for developers to feed us this type of game? Purely RP, the fight is simple, versatile and has variety, with romance options, owning property and etc. that’s why I still love Fable, there hasn’t really been a game like it
I played the demo back in the day so I could get a new armour and weapon for Mass Effect. And then I never once used that Armour or weapon.
I did really like the Demo and wanted to play the full game, but it wasn't on PSN and I couldn't find a physical copy anywhere so I ended up completely forgetting about it. Then I saw it last month on PSN. And better yet, it was free with PlayStation Plus. Been playing it non-stop since and it's honestly really fun. I don't care if the graphics don't compare to today's shit because for me, the graphics aren't that important. The load times aren't that bad for me and the gameplay, while it took some getting used to is perfectly fine. The setting though, that's what really does it for me. The story and the world and the lore. So good.

Started playing it last week because it became free on PlayStation and I love it, it feels like it’s an old game like one of those 90s arcade games and so fun with so much depth and things you can do, the armor and weapons alone make the love the game, the destiny cards are beautifully done and honestly the only thing I can criticize if the camera movement but I’m also a lil pansy when it comes to that, it’s an amazing game and I’m so glad I got it for free
Set this game to download Saturday afternoon. Sat down to play it and before I knew it Sunday night had rolled around. Nearly 20 hours in and I haven't even started the main quest line. Even playing as a stock fighter is engaging, but the option to mix up playstyles is always available. Only complaint I have is that mechanically it's not what I would call innovative, and at times the world feels like a depopulated WoW server. Other than those quibbles I love it; it gets an 8/10 from me.
I have always had it since it came out. One of my favorites. One of the games I never uninstall.

Based on the gameplay in the video it looks like it would be fun, but I feel like I'd never get used to that camera style of never staying centered. If nothing else watching this just makes me want the next elder scrolls game that much more.

When this came out, i played the hell out of it, was a fable-esque, fantasy RPG that pulled me in, i remember when i finished it and i was anxious to see a sequel, that never happened, when the re-reckoning was announced i was VERY excited, but seeing reviews and hearing that it's basically just a re-release more than a remaster, was disappointing, i'll definitely still be picking this one up, one day, when it hits like $15-20.

I got this with EA's Play Pro and it's exactly what I wanted: an old school, simple RPG without a billion options that muddy the experience. It harkens back to a simpler time when you didn't need a spreadsheet to figure out how to play a game. Imagine walking into a 1990s arcade and playing the best hack and slash game you've ever played. That's KoA: Re-Re. It's just a fun game and the Re-ing cleaned up the graphics too so when I play on my PC at 3440x1440 at 144 FPS it's seamless. This is the game I forgot I wanted to be playing.

Honestly this game is fun for awhile but it kinda just drags on and on, the story (which should be much better considering the designers) is very basic with only a few cool or fun things going on.

I played it again (the normal game) because I wanted to see if I like the re-reconing, but I noticed that I don'T like the fact that you're bound to the ground.... cant jump, cant explore like you are used to...
