Personally, I preferred Josh's video because it has feelings and showing a love story. Jake's video is more professional and beautiful but it is looking like an advertising for a go-pro or a camera lance. at 6:15 when the girl is looking at the camera, it looks like she wants to go out with the cameraman next and for me Jake lost lots of points because of that. Anyway, very nice video! first time on your channel and I really like it!
I've never done any video work at all at all in my life but i instantly knew the second video was a pro for one reason alone. The timing of the shot transitions synced to the beat of the music. Being a musician, the first thing i notice on screen is the music over anything else. Dead Dead give away to me.
Watching the beginning sequence, I can see that the more experienced shooters try to show confidence and make their clients feel good. That was one of the things I have learned that really helps.
I really cant find the 2nd music... Shazam failed...google failed... I searched the (by the way may) youtube channel inside out.... Still cant find it..... Anyone got any ideas?
Just a fantastic video, I'd put myself much closer to Josh in this one but to be able to see what a true pro can do with the same gear and setting is so motivating to improve! Cheers!
Thanks guys, these are great and I love the concept! What about an ad? I know it sounds basic, but as you guys know, there's a lot that goes into it. Each of you pick a product and sell it to Parker via a 30 sec. ad? Oh and gear budget can't exceed $500. I'd love to see that! Thanks for sharing!
@@fulltimefilmmaker not a problem Parker! :) I was about to meet you last May during my trip to Salt Lake City to exchange experience but haven't heard from you...
Suggestion: Pick a product, like shoes or a skateboard, and shoot a commercial but you both have to incorporate the same "insert 5 different types of shots" into the video. For example must include a reveal from behind something, an overhead, a close up, 360 revolve the hero, and all in one take or seem transition-less.
you showed all the BTS before the video guessing segment. makes it sort of easy to guess as the viewer , when I was able to know based off the earlier BTS shots.
Jakes framing, use of depth of field, and colors are all way better, he also edited to the music. The couple was also more dynamic and moved more naturally, Joshs couples posed more similar to how you would do a photograph so it wasn't as engaging for video. Both did good though!
I say the only thing for Jake I saw was the added white flare, I would have ran that once but it’s also added on the clip after but both great videos. Can’t wait for the next!
Well done!! I love your competitions as there's so much to learn from both of you. Only one complain: I do not like seeing Jake throw his gum to the ground ;)
I was watching this today. However I don't think I am late judge with say of that 1st video is more stery telling & emotional but 2nd is very professional, the cuts, fram cuttinng & effect 🤟🏾
Was still obvious just after the first video. After watching a few of these it’s always the same story. Josh didn’t have a deep layered sound. He didn’t seem to combine enough types of shots and depths. Most things centered. Jake had a few “rule of thirds” compositions, but also centered when appropriate. Leading lines which I’ve only learned about today from a few of these videos. Josh has come a long way from the boot commercial but there’s still those common elements he’s missing. I’m learning sound sound sound. Color was much better this time. But also, tell the story. Everything in 60p is just slow. Use speed to tell the story too, not just double the length of the movie. Also, maybe to tell the story and building on introducing the characters, he could have started with the guy look bored or patiently waiting. Looks around, at the ground, whatever. Then he glances up, sees her walking over the hill or coming into scene like an angel, he begins to smile, you can see his heart and spirit lifting, then the classic couple coming together shot, then walking together, etc. ends walking off together towards the mountain. Even do the death scene where they walk off and fade out leaving just the mountain valley. A little overused concept maybe, but still works. More story telling.
The next competition should be to shoot a product video!! Lighting, composition, idea, etc... It'll be fun to watch! (Maybe do an iPhone 12 introduction video)
I'm blown away with the look Jake gives. great video. Im also looking at my Eos R wondering if that prime 50 Jake used makes that big of a difference. I cant get mine look that clear. Great Job guys
Both the videos are good. As parker said a few minor adjustments here and there were required. But overall both of them did exceptionally well. Anonyone can just hold a camera and shoot but the real thing is to know what to shoot, from which angle and the lighting. Can you make a video for us beginners on camera angles and simple economical light setup.
Both really nice but I liked #1 better except for the ending. Could have taken a super realistic approach with a close fade out shot of divorce papers being signed. I'll show myself out.
Love these competition videos @parkerwalbeck I think I agree with @Preston Lee Music. He has a good Idea that the whole FTFM squad should go head to head...
Great job to both involved! Josh has progressed so much it’s insane.
Why not have a new guy for every competition. Josh is becoming a veteran now.
wow
@@FeltActs wait a minute. You're a walker as well. I've never met a walker in the full-time filmmaker community
Bahahah 😂😂
I can't wait for the time when Josh shows up as professional vs some beginner dude and kicks him with cheap gears.
nice one
wowwwww
Yea, can't wait for that
Was looking for this comment 😂👍
It would be next to impossible.
Wow guys did Parker really not notice that the snow was a VFX, I am blown away
I know right. I was like, i think the snow was VFX. Lol😆😆
I definitely didn’t notice either!
I didn’t notice it either
@@dominickwok8163 fa
I know, I noticed it right away
You become who you hang out with. As Josh is working with great people I'm not surprised he got so good.
Next Challenge: Shoot Beer Commercial and let's see who really nails it 🔥
Extra challenge, shoot while they’re drunk
They’re all Mormon. I don’t think they would shoot alcohol stuff
I agree, especially corona beer to reflect the time.
wow cool
@@THEMATT222 Lol, let's see where their creativity leads them!!
The newbie show so much more feeling in my opinion. Congratulations.
I felt the same
Always excited to watch this kind of contents 🙌
As soon as I saw the long establishing shots I knew it wasn't Jake's
Yooo it's keyboard king 🥵😂
Love your work man ❤️

Me too! I just knew at that point. 😅
Yoooo Joseph in here too!
I knew right off the bat with sound design who’s was who’s. Love learning from this channel and yours too Joseph 🙌🏽

I loved that shot of the girl looking into the camera, but you’re right. It was really flirty and suggestive.
Exactly what I thought

Whatever might be the result, Josh's progress is faster than me leaving the maths class
Watching the beginning sequence, I can see that the more experienced shooters try to show confidence and make their clients feel good. That was one of the things I have learned that really helps.
Josh did very well on the technical side. However story wise... Jake's crafted a deeper story, which to me is the most important thing
I couldn’t look past the girls kissing on the first video. She went in so weird 😂
Lol I couldn’t either.... 🥴
Yeah.. that was hell out of a weird kiss 😂 but yet good pair :)
the lips didn't touch properly 😭
Me too! Hers lips are weird as shit.
She did lol 😂
“Cinamaticness” 🤣🤣🤣
The snawflakes was a great effect in the video by the way!! Love it!!
Josh's is 10/10 and Jake's is 8/10 imo; Josh's just hit me in the feels more, whereas Jake's felt more scripted
The *luxdups* tote is perfect for a beach hotel stay, and the blue color pairs perfectly with the pool or sea.
Your videos help Me a lot especially that one hour free training course
Great job to Both, I like Josh B/C of color and Brightness control.

I loved the edits. I love the shot of the road!
I like the 2nd clip better, but the order and the cutting diminishes the result.
wooh "Make it out".. same music we're gonna be using in our wedding SDE video this weekend 😀

Nice headphones, Parker
Suggestion or Addition: They have to use the same music. You choose it Parker!
I knew right away the snow was fake.but the video sill looks great

The first one had some blurriness compared to the 2nd one. Both good. But winner is the 2nd based on sharpness and cleaner.
