      but what FF has always been doing is to fight against an antagonist who craves power more than anything, and there is no power stronger than one of a god. That's why we always fight against the power, against those ridiculous gigantic powerful beast. This 1 is good but feels rather lackluster but I do like the 1 on 1, the lack of epicness in the fight but in the cutscene make it kinda meh.

      I was actually disappointed by this. It's become such a staple in the series, and for once the villain actually had a reason to transform into a gigantic grotesque monster. I mean he absorbed countless daemons, god knows what kind of hellspawn he could have become. On top of that, I found Ardyn to be wayyyyy too easy. One of the easiest final bosses in the series tbh. Like Ravus and Ifrit were wayyyy better fights.

    Am I the only one that disagrees with the theory that the last campfire they have together after the credits is the afterlife?
    I took it that it was when they were headed to Insomnia for their final mission. And the reason they're so emotional is because they know Noct has to sacrifice himself.
    Why would Noct say "how long has it been since we sat down at a campfire like this" in the afterlife? They did that right before they went to Insomnia :P
    I think Gladio, Prompto and Ignis all survived.

    • @Eclypsia13

      SonicPrototype, the theory that the campfire scene is in the afterlife is because the animators got lazy and forgot to add in the ring. making hard-core theorists believe it's in the afterlife. but in reality the animators just got lazy towards the end. so you're correct.

    • @mokhie452
      @mokhie452 4 года назад +14

      I know this is two years later, but I think the reason Ardyn didn’t have the final one is because Ravus refused to let go of the sword, thus not letting Ardyn get it.

    • @1aundulxaldin
      @1aundulxaldin 4 года назад +28

      The actual truth is far more screwed up. Here we go:
      The entire story, if you ignore the "Dawn of the future" novel, is a narrative about what happens when you are playing along with a script that seems more like a lesson in futility against the chains of fate.
      Bahamut, the Draconian, made Somnus the heir to the throne, starting the line of lucis. Meanwhile, the one with actual healing powers, Ardyn, his brother, was turned into a monster who would absorb demons into his body, becoming the threat so reviled by the Gods. So really, Ardyn was the actual heir to the throne, but was glossed over in favor of the guy whose facial features Bahamut shared.
      Ardyn, upon his reawakening, proceeded to try and get his revenge on his brother by killing his successor to the throne, the 12th King of Lucis, Regis. But while Ardyn did indeed best him in a fight, Bahamut intercepted before Ardyn could deliver the killing blow. Ardyn was told in no uncertain terms that his entire existence is just limitless shadow to usher in limitless light when Noctis finally comes into his own, claims the throne, and kills Ardyn himself, losing his life in the process. Ardyn, without much fuss decides to accept this, as this means that with Noct's death the line of Lucis will die out anyway, and he accepts his role as a villain if it means his revenge will finally be sated.

    This is not your typical generic final boss with monstrous form aka "This isn't even my final form" cliche.

      but it's freaking FF. Of course most people expect it to be like how they always do things. You know.. like an RPG rather than a bittersweet novel in cutscene format? I am not going to say FFXV is the worst, but it will never be one of the best in the series ever.
      In the first place if you need to separate the story into a movie and another part in the game, just so people fully understands the plot. It's already pretty lame no? That's never how RPG tells their story.

    Ardyn managed to squeeze out a full win. He ended the line that started with his brother sitting on the throne. And he died a permanent death leaving behind a world in ruin. But maybe not all hope is entirely lost.
    Ardyn wasn't even the real villain. Noctis was an unfair victim who accepted his inevitable fate and still did save hi Kingdom at least from further pain, so all the deaths that came before this were not in vain. Both parties were essentially screwed over not by Ardyn, but by the real villain who wrote the script of "Light vs. Darkness."

    • @michaelholiday6064
      @michaelholiday6064 7 лет назад +72

      Noctis had to. Ardyn is functionally immortal; he's barred from the Astral World (the true afterlife), and his body is hard to kill and reforms because of the daemonic energy he's absorbed. It's what embittered him in the first place - his relative, who would later become a Lucian King, would see Ardyn's immortality and daemonic energy and turned the people against him and had him deposed.
      At any rate, Ardyn doesn't die, and when he did due to the power Noctis had built up over ten years, Ardyn was sent to the beyond, still possessing his power. Ardyn implies that Noctis could have banished the Starscourge without confronting Ardyn, but I suppose Noctis figured that, given enough time, Ardyn could start things up all over again. That, and as he says indirectly, Ardyn deserves his rest.

    • @RedfurredPikachu
      @RedfurredPikachu 6 лет назад +20

    What some people don’t get about this fight, is that it is easy for a reason, and it’s not like it’s hidden from the plot. Ardyn’s main objective was always to find death at last, to find rest after thousands of years of suffering. This is why it’s always Ardyn who puts Noctis on the right path to his destiny. In a way, it’s funny to think that Ardyn helps the ignorant Noctis through his journey because he knows it’s the only way he will find peace. Thus, Ardyn is not a master of evil like Kefka for example. His aim is to find rest, not to destroy the world. Putting it in the dark is only some kind of training for Noctis. In consequence, the final boss fight being easy makes perfect sense.

    • @xXShizukanaXx

      Not necessarily. We don't know which ending in Episode Ardyn is canon.
      I rather think it was unintentionally easy, since the entire game was ridiculously easy. It was pointed out often and when it did get difficult, it was either due to the bosses being damage sponges that can 1 shot the player even on max level, or by making puzzle dungeons harder with platforming the gameplay wasn't fit to support.

    • @hooray4paradiddles
      @hooray4paradiddles Год назад +2

      Exactly. Ardyn ultimately just wanted to finally be able to die, which he needed the king to come into his full power to be able to accomplish (since the darkness he took into himself made him unable to die and the crystal/ring/light/whatever is the only thing that can get rid of it). Getting to torture the descendants of Somnus and just generally wreak havoc is simply the cherry on top.

    This ending/finale was perfect aside from the battle not even being close to a challenge. It's unfair how noctis can have a maximum of 99 potions or any other kind of curative. Ardyn should probably be able to use those too. Ardyn can use curatives in episode ardyn. Also, he doesn't even use the combat mechanics he had in his episode. The undead form when in danger, phantasm baldest, shadow steps, and a lot more.

    Did anyone else feel that after leaving the first continent, the game went downhill from there? I was having a blast completing all of the main and side quests. I did as much as could and set sail. After that, it just became a rushed constant hallway after hallway with nothing much to do other than watch a bunch of cut scenes. I don't know it was because I came in over leveled, but even the final boss was more of a cinematic than a challenge. I guess I'm used to all the other FF's I played where you have a shit ton to do in every continent.

    • @Heartlessangel350
      @Heartlessangel350 7 лет назад +2

      you mostlikely just came in over leveled. once you beat the game you can go back in time and do all the side stuff at your leisure. so doing the side stuff before completeing the story made you very OP for the main story objectives. I know first hand cause I did the same and noticed most of the monsters in the story were around lv 30-40ish while I was lv 60+ the only ones that weren't were the wall daemons which were like 80+ I think.

      Well, Bhunivelze would be hard to translate into a fighting game without removing the sense of truly awesome power you get from fighting him. If we ever get him at all, I expect him to be a campaign boss. But a Chaos-side representative for XIII could easily be Caius Ballad, seeing as he's been described as Lightning's equal in abilities (as of XIII-2, at least), and his design is pretty cool and unique with his modernized Native American motif. They'd have to differentiate him well from the spell-slinging swordsman group Dissidia already has a lot of, though.

    Wait...if Ardyn will achieve both his goals of ending the lucian bloodline AND finally ending his own immortality by having Noctis killing him, then...why is there even a boss fight with Ardyn at all? why didn't Ardyn just approached Noctis as the throne room, and said something like "kill me now, so that we can both end this". Noctis would've killed him on the spot, absorve the power of his ancestors, meet Ardyn in the afterlife, kill both him and himself in the process, and Ardyn still wins! so why was the boss fight even necessary? Am I missing something? I just don't get it...

    • @puffpuffpassmako

    still wish your party would not be taken out by those black bolts, I mean if that's the case he could have just hit Noct with that too and just be done with it all.
    would have made far more sense if he would have amassed a huge army of daemon's (including those diamond weapons) in Insomnia.
    Having noct's friends distracted by battling off most of the smaller daemons while noctis takes on Ardyn and his Diamond weapons while summoning the kings of Lucis (to actually fight instead of doing nothing for the entire darned game)

    • @michaelholiday6064
      @michaelholiday6064 7 лет назад +4

      Recall that Noctis had spent ten years building up the power of the Crystal, while his friends had not. It's highly unlikely that he would have been just as easily susceptible to the magic. Ardyn was a King of Light himself; he knows what the Crystal makes you capable of. Also, Prompto, Ignis, and Gladiolus all survived the bolts.
      And having Ardyn summon demons in his fight with Noctis actually contradicts his character and motivations - he's a showman, and has always been big on presentation. Beyond that, as he says, "They have no place here, in this battle of kings." Noctis summoning the past kings to fight Ardyn is also contradictory to what the Ring of Lucii is said to be able to do - Noctis gets their knowledge and their presence, not the ability to hit them up for game time. The only reason they could hurt him in the real world was because of their connection and the Ring. It also doesn't make sense from a meta standpoint, because you'd imagine that if the Ring could call them back corporeally, Noctis would do it more often as opposed to an eleventh-hour superpower. If you say that they could have made it so from the start, then it would be bad from a gameplay standpoint because Summons and the Armiger already take up what role summoning the past kings would fill - there is simply no room, rhyme, or reason for it, by lore, continuity, or gameplay.

    I've played every major game in the series (except 8) and storyline-wise this was the best in my opinion. I think if 7 had the technology we have now (hello, remake) it would be the best, but given what we have on this date this was the most effective. I teared up a few times during the ending. I didn't do that when Aeris died. Granted, I was like 12 so maybe I didn't get it.
    Long story short, I wasn't invested in the characters until the last few chapters. By the end I was in tears.

    This was one of the greatest final encounters in FF series... IMO. I just wish it had better build-up to it. Holy shit, they finished this game off great. It's almost as if they made this part first then wore themselves out with the rest of the game... /shrug

    Couldn’t Noct just live on for a couple more years after he killed Adryn? I mean, light was brought back to the world (As shown when Noct was sitting on the throne) so his goal was accomplished and the daemons have been slain. Who cares if Ardyn had to wait a couple years, at least let the man live on before saying goodbye

      Arydn had to go in order for the daemons to be killed permanently. Through his journey he had to learn to be selfless and to put the people before himself. That's how a king acts, I'm mixed on the ending myself but I do see what they were going for here.

    Seemed like Noctus met up with and married his wife in the afterlife. Presumably the other 3 died by the steps when all they stayed behind and had to fight all the monsters approaching.
