    Mmm, a slightly sticky patch fairly early on. Good fun. Here's the path of my second run-though, which was a little smoother than the first (64 = row 6 column 4):
    64, 75, 85, 97, 25 (naked single),
    57, 58, 89 (triples in row 7),
    81 (naked single),
    21 (and again),
    72, 82, 74, 45, 36,
    96 (restriction in box 2),
    94, 66, 49, 67, 53,
    44, 45, 46, 42, 48,
    71, 29, 22, 26, 12,
    32, 25, 35, 17, 37,
    13, 91, 79, 78, 19,
    31, 93, 61, 73, 98,
    99, 38, 18, 34, 14,
    33, 68, 69, 84, 86.
    It's been a while since I've heard your mellifluous tones. I'll try to watch more often next month.

    I was stuck at the same situation as your 15.40 - although it took me much longer to get there! I would never have been able to spot the claiming 4's in box 9 giving the 8 in C9 R8. So much to learn....

    Thanks for the solve. Question though, at 10:04 how did you solve for the 9? How did you prove it was not an 8 without using the purple box? Thanks in advance!

      @pietndala7394 День назад

      Of course you couldn't find the 9 in row 8 column 1 without proving the purple marked box to be an 8. However 367 triple for row 7, is the only way to have enabled proving the marked purple box to be an 8.... 367 occupied r7c1, r7c2 and r7c4...
      The 4 could have been a candidate for row 7 only in box 8, the eliminating a 4 in purple marked 48 box in r7c9.
      Only then is 9 the only candidate for r8c1.

      I don't think you can prove that box was not 8 without that purple box, because he said that it could have been "2, 4, 6, 9" so he already excluded the 8.
      The other step is realizing the 4s where pointing on box 8 to box 9 and putting the 8 and that confirms the 9 on box 7.

    16:13 for me. I ended up resolving things a bit differently based on the 2/4/9 triple in c6 that you can see at 17:53 of your video. That placed the 7 in r6c6 and then the 3 in r9c6. But your path basically solved that about the same time as the triple appeared for you. So you didn't miss anything with that.

    This was a nice challenge today. Took me quite a while to see that triple in row 7. The collapse after that still took a little work. 39:04 😬

    This is the challenge I was looking for. The hidden 3 in box 8 stumped me, then it followed up with the 7 in box 5. That's where the puzzle collapsed.

    I swear I penciled it nearly every number before finding the 45 and 24 in row 7. 25:59 longest one in a while!

    42:44. I knew there'd be a quicker way to unravel that particular knot. Didn't spot the triple or the geometry (not a lot of that recently), hence the inflated time.
    2nd pass was ~13 minutes, which showed me where I should've been, but with that advanced trick it's an easy sub-10, I presume.

    Just over 15 minutes today, really had to dig around for obscure center marks and discover several triples to unlock it.

    Nice solve! Does that technique you demonstrated using 2's and 5's at about 7:00 have a name?

    • @Rangsk
      @Rangsk  День назад

      Not in the way I found it, though there may be an equivalent technique to get the same result. The general idea I used is usually just called coloring, but that's very generic.

      @@Rangsk I see, okay. I'll maybe watch that snippet again and see if I really get it, and then see if I can apply it elsewhere. Thanks.

    I hung for the longest time at your purple 8. it was given by claiming 4s in B9 resulting from a 245 triple in R7. I was not heeding the claiming 4s.
    ETA: dayum, it was the NYT trick, after all.
    After that it's not an easy collapse, but the furter steps are basic.
