@wave strike. Sorry, YT won't let me reply directly. I see a lot of people saying the TR808 is a lot different from the Acidlab, but if you consider Klaus is one man trying to create the legacy of the Roland Corp, I think he's done a bloody good job. Klaus put his heart and soul into the miami, like a handmade guitar, it's a bespoke instrument, true punk DIY mentality. Didn't have to do it, but he brought a way more affordable version of the original and it HAS the vibe...big ups to him and those who support this kind of short run enthusiast gear. Soul machine...yes, I like it!
Oh I hear that.... love the crispness of the 808 the track truly comes alive at the 2:41 mark and the drum pattern switches really hit the mark love to hear some of ur work on the MD&MM
Coincidence , recently contacted Andy for one of he's x0xses sinds i fell in love with the desighn he made of them. I am a technician but guess your right , one mistake is enough to screw it up so ill tagg allong with ur statement by putting it togetter by pro's, Keep up the work and thx for the info :)
Custom in the sense that one was built by the Beast, one by Andy pledger, then both sent to DinSync for Aluminium rehousing, Alu enclosures by Christian. If that isn't custom, I don't know what is ;) They're the best hands out there. Only you can decide if you want to build one yourself, but I chose to have it done professionally. I'm a musician, not a technician. Good luck. (PS they're not exact copies, the chaser lights are at different heights and one env attacks harder than the other)
I agree with good comments. I was just thinking of buying a x0xb0x or an Acidlab Bassline 3 and was searching for reviews and just ended up just grooving for the last 5:38 ;-)
I used to have an EMX & ESX. You have to set the midi out (needs a bit of menu hopping) to get the xox sequencer triggered. Xox needs to be set to midi sync...
How do you make the x0xb0x get that muddy submarine kind of dolphin underwater sound, can't explain it better? It does not sound normal but it sound good?
Well, I don't think there's much of a difference, certainly not an extra 800eur worth of a difference. I guess you have to ask yourself whether you would have noticed it was not an original 808 had I not shown the miami in the video. Just like two original 303's don't sound exactly the same, two 808's don't sound exactly the same. My two x0x boxes don't sound exactly the same. Who cares, you know it's an 808 & 303!
Boss Re-20 Space Echo Reverb & Delay up a decent amount. That's it far right on the screen next to the miami. lot's of slide on the x0x. Ride the filter to get the accents to jump out to give the submarine ping...
I wonder what 'Custom x0xb0x' you mean , apperenly alot have been made and all kind of sound different ... these ones look like exact copy's tough ... x0xshop or mode mashine , or something totaly different ? Nicely done btw ;) I still am a Tb303 user with a MC505 but am trying to get a x0xb0x lately , just not sure if i should put it togetter myself or not , am afraid it might not sound like i hoped for sinds the differences in sound assembly (the famous 4066 chip)
Thanks for your interest, MD stuff coming up soon. You can download my free acid sets on soundcloud com the-marauder if you need more acid in your life.
PS, if you can, use a gate on your DAW channel to sit on the noise or something like LFO Tool to run almost like a negative side-chain to suppress the hiss.
What kind of setup do you have for you equipment? I'm trying to figure out how to store all of my toys and so far I just have a standard table. I'm digging the way you have everything setup and great sound!
Well, I agree with it. I'm a guitar player too & distortion is the main weapon. Lots of people record with distortion, especially underground sound system types, basically people who moved on from punk. Anyway, guess we can agree to disagree on artistic merit versus production values. Go in peace Mr H ;)
Hi it's basically a bit of processing in ableton. Just a bit of valve overdrive from nomad factory. Don't overcook it or you'll lose the low end. Any valve or heavy tape sim will do.
Nice going! What's the processing for MIAMI? I presume some idb distortion or ...? I usually run the kick through Boss ODB-3 to get that hard edge but the pedal is noisey as fck.
Very Nice! I'm diggin the tune. I have some machines myself. I really like the rack stand that holds your x0xb0x machines. Is that custom built or can this be purchased somewhere? I need something like that in my home studio. Please let me know.. Thanks!
I was looking for videos featuring the Acidlab Miami to get an idea of how it sounds, but unfortunately, I stumbled upon your only video with purposely distorted sound... Sorry to have come out as an arrogant bastard before... I did check your other videos, and the sound is fine on those... Again, sorry mate. Next time I'll watch a few videos before commenting on one.
I've been listening to at least one of your videos on a daily basis. Excellent work. Your stuff is awesome. I'm wondering if you can answer a question for me... What type of reverb setting is on the xoxbox at 2:35? I'm guessing it's the HOF, but I'm curious how you dialed in that sound.
Hi mike, it really is nothing more than a wet level swell when the drums cut out, the trick is to have the decay set so it takes a couple of seconds to fade out
Sir, you clearly have little appreciation for 90s techno. I've been producing since 95. This is overdriven per analogue desk channel to replicate the styles of Neil Landstrumm & Tobias Schmidtt. It is recorded below 0dB & mastered accordingly with T-Racks. Take your hate elsewhere pal ;)
@AlainHubert: lol, i'm sorry to break this to you but i am 99% sure that this is totally inteded. please go back to your acoustic instruments and take your dogmas with you because thats where they belong. ;)
Bah! Hör auf mir ins Gehirn zu fassen und mein Lustzentrum zu stimulieren. Sonst gibts ne Anzeige wegen Mindfuck... Nee ehrlich. Geil! (Gedanklich Public Energy reinmix...) BäM!
I do not agree on distorted sounds as a "style". I've listened to techno before, and it doesn't have to be distorted in order to have punch. There's so much crappy sound quality on RUclips without distorting it on purpose... But, to each his own I guess. Sorry to have doubted your audio recording abilities...
overloaded and heavily distorted sound. Crappy piece of audio engineering. Learn how to watch VU meters when you record and how not to rely solely on limiters and compressors.

The Marauder oh hi
I thought it was more of its own vibe. Nice to hear a new instrument, not just another clone
Oh I hear that....

Tight performance. Props!
excellent old school mood! :)
very nice..........disturbing sounds those slides...are what acid is!! perfect

Hi, it's basically a CDJ-1000 deck stand. This one is spacetek, but any CDJ stand will do.
excellent I love old skool acid

Basically the distortion come from a mixture of Abletons saturator and some tube distortion.

good stuff!
sehr geil!!!
Amazing sound.. How do you get this nice kick? Is processes via an external pedal somehow?
Hi it's basically a bit of processing in ableton. Just a bit of valve overdrive from nomad factory. Don't overcook it or you'll lose the low end. Any valve or heavy tape sim will do.

what for distorion are uu using?

i love it :D
Have you got an MP3 or FLAC or WAV of this?
Very Nice! I'm diggin the tune. I have some machines myself. I really like the rack stand that holds your x0xb0x machines. Is that custom built or can this be purchased somewhere? I need something like that in my home studio. Please let me know.. Thanks!

Basically ikea for table ware, cheap CDJ stands for the x0xboxes.
goood!
Yeah, the side cheeks gave it away, very similar to my Acidlab Bassline 2. Making the x0xen bastard sons of Miami!
brutal
Holy smokes

Nice :o))))))))))))))))))))))
You can only buy the Miami directly from Klaus in Germany. acidlab.de He's a good guy!
No, no. I usually pair that with the monomachine. 808 for the 303 has a good sound ;)
No worries mate, cheers. The miami is a good machine by the way.
Cheers, you can get some free downloads here...
