Yo! This is super sick. I've got a Roland E-Kit and have been wanting to make drum videos for a while, but I can't figure out how to connect it to a computer with samples. Could you help? All your transcriptions have been super fun and helpful btw :)
Sure man! I got myself a MIDI cable that I can connect to my PC via USB. Then I would run Ableton Live 10 (or any DAW) with GGD (GetGoodDrums) software. The MIDI cable usually has a lot of latency and won't be useful by giving you the actual drum software feedback. What I did instead was: hitting record on my DAW, but I would use the E-kit sound on my headphones so I could guide me through the music. I also highly recommend looking for the BPM of the song you're playing and setting that tempo in your DAW before recording. Because of the latency, your drums will be recorded slightly after the click, but this tip can help you to adjust it to the grids on time Setting all this up can take a while and some research, but if you're really into recording some stuff, then it's totally worth it. From the 8 bars: •2nd bar is a 4:3 polyrhythm •4th bar is just triplets and a lil' sextuplet fill •6th bar is a bunch of 5 groupings •8th bar comes from a Gavin Harrison Zildjian performance, in the second chorus I think;) Cheers bro!
