LION IN ACRYLIC WITH VOICEOVER

- Join me as I paint a lion in acrylic paint on a canvas board.
I like to prep my canvases with a couple of layers of gesso, slightly sanding down to eliminate any unwanted texture, then adding a layer of acrylic paint. I then transfer my drawing using a 'tracedown' paper before beginning the painting itself. I find that by utilising many layers of glazing I can achieve a depth to the painting, creating a realistic effect to fur. Here is a video link to the 'stay wet' palette set up that I use: • BEST PALETTE FOR ACRYL... I hope you enjoy these videos, feel free to leave comments and ask questions - I read and reply to all of them.
Thank you for watching, your support is truly appreciated xXx

LOL awe thank you Thomas, I hope you're keeping well, can't believe we're nearly a third of the way through 2024 already lol xXx
Agreed, Kerry animals do appear as all one unified color. As artist's we know they are not. How will I know when to make my glaze lighter? Does this depend on where the light source is coming from?
Hi there, yes vary your glazes depending on where the light source is coming from and the hues you want to achieve. So it isn’t just a case of ‘one colour glaze fits all’, play with different colours of glazes - you can put them side by side or one over the top of another, just remember not to use white in any of your glaze mixes as this will make your glaze opaque. To lighten a glaze add more water, to darken a glaze you can play with adding blues, violets, browns etc and a touch of black if you wish xXx
@@kerrynewell-wildlifeartist I picked up raw umber and naples yellow today so I'll experiment with them. I wrote down what you said so I'll have it when I go to apply those glazes. Your Lion is very beautiful and I learned good things from your video. Thank you for all you do!
