Aw, as these sirens are a personal favourite of my own, it was only a month ago that I head they’re going down. Sad stuff - Loved journeying around with you and young mrchay in 2014.
I miss Chay when he was that age, he is 14 now! Thanks for the comment. i have a brand new siren hunt coming soon. I've already filmed it, but it is the usual "how do I get the time to edit ANOTHER hunt, when I haven't finished the second broadmoor hunt yet! TIME TIME TIME is always the issue!
There is only 1 siren now onto of the main building at the new hospital. The sirens are now much quieter as it was felt not needed as the hospital security is more secure and there are other ways now to inform people of any escape. All schools in the local area now relieve a text message
It is great that you guys are following this system, keeping us up to date with it! Thanks! Despite being an American, I've recognized a lack of any maps for sirens in the United Kingdom, and I think Broadmoor would be a good place to start. Does the remaining sirens still sound?
Thanks for the comment. Officially, the sirens removed were the ones that no longer worked. So the remaining ones SHOULD work, but a few people have told me that some don't! I have a brand new siren hunt coming soon (when I've finished these ones) that are in a different part of the UK. More CS8s and a couple of bigger sirens!
Well personally I think its crazy to get shot of them, not every one has there eyes glued to social media to know if there is a issue, specially when a 1/3 of the day were asleep, I understand escape from Broadmoor is not something to likely happen, But hey lets put peoples safety to risk while we trail out a new system that only works if our eyes are in the right direction at the time. its crazy to think someone feels 13 loud noises that everyone can hear in one go is not up to the job anymore !!!!!
Awesome video mrmatt in our home town in Geelong we a old ww2 air raid siren in shell petrol factory as a warning siren .if something goes wrong in the factory .I have heard the siren go of twice in my school when the siren was being tested in the morning it sounded like a ww2 air raid was coming .it sounded awesome the siren I will try and get a picture and a video one day when it's getting tested so I can record the siren going off .
sounds even cooler!! Would be great to see a video with you with your friend servicing them. I've just filmed a brand new siren hunt, with some GP12s, but the majority were CS8s
ruclips.net/video/IaCyouD__qQ/видео.html The high side (facing the camera) has more holes. As the shutter blocks the inlet, the open side is loudest so you can hear which is which. You can see/hear it here as well: ruclips.net/video/UC8NxZqTLL0/видео.html
As far as I know, they are all in storage 'somewhere', but under the control of Broadmoor Hospital. They will not be issuing any of them out to enthusiasts as they've been inunated with requests (inc me lol!) and if one were to be powered up and activated, then this could create unwanted media attention where Broadmoor could be called irresponsible for issuing them. And, managing old sirens is not something that Broadmoor want to get involved with, therefore the old sirens are within their control and will remain this way. It's also a possibility that they may have already been scrapped, who-knows!
@@mrmattandmrchay Thanks for all the info! I would love to get one even though I am in NY so Would not be able to And as you said they are not for sale. Yeah I was gonna say on google maps it looks like in the Hospital area there is a couple of the towers there on the ground too.
mrmattandmrchay yes, it's sad that these are going away, if I was able to, I would've salvaged one but still maybe they'll leave some because it's not worth trying to remove them.
The sirens that stopped working, they removed in preparation for the whole system to be physically removed at the end of 2018. This is because they made the decision to scrap the whole siren system (this was originally installed in the late 1950s)
R.I.P all broadmoor sirens (1952 - 2019) we will miss you all forever!
yep, end of an era

Just to correct, the High Tone Shutter is jammed shut, look at the Port Ratio on the siren.
There is a couple of similar sirens round here used as flood alerts now silent since they improved the beach and water pumping station
Nice, are these in portsmouth? Think I've heard of these before, but never seen them

Siren G sounded perfectly about 3 weeks ago. I recommend visiting it.
@@mrmattandmrchayI do miss the sirens a lot I'm British stupid decommissioning
Was all the Sandhurst, Acot and Bagshot and also Wokingham siren installed in 1952?
I'm not sure which ones were installed when, but the majority were installed 1950s
@@mrmattandmrchay thanks
Why does Siren f when one of the shuttls was not working and where is Siren g

How do you know which shutter is high or low tone

No not Portsmouth but near Weymouth in Dorset one is at Wyke Regis the other at Portland a place called Vicky square
SIREN F AND SIREN G IS STILL THERE YAY!!!!
Hey this is a late comment. But do you know where they take them after they are removed? I am assuming that they were all scrapped.
As far as I know, they are all in storage 'somewhere', but under the control of Broadmoor Hospital. Pretty sure the remaining ones will be either left to rot on the mast or taken down later
Alexis Trinquet some have already been removed. See some of his recent siren videos, all that remains is either a tower or nothing at all!
It's a half-half mix of remaining verses removed. I will get around to finishing them one day!
mrmattandmrchay yes, it's sad that these are going away, if I was able to, I would've salvaged one but still maybe they'll leave some because it's not worth trying to remove them.
that will always remain in function the siren G
Has Siren K ever worked whilst you were trying to film it?
Nope, I've never heard this one sounding, but many other people have. So I suppose it was just out of action for a time.
mrmattandmrchay Shame
9:27 Correct as of 19.08.19
Does anybody know if these are still sounding every Monday?
Siren G was 3 weeks ago.
Sirens are hanging.
So this broadmoar hospital is like a real “Arkham Asylum”?
I've just googled that, and I'd say 'yes' it does appear so :)
Or The State Hospital could be called an “Arkham Asylum”
It's a high secure facility for people with mental heath and personality disorders
Save a couple so there not scrapped!
The hospital decided that they should be scrapped regardless :(
Why is A,C and D removed??
The sirens that stopped working, they removed in preparation for the whole system to be physically removed at the end of 2018. This is because they made the decision to scrap the whole siren system (this was originally installed in the late 1950s)
mrmattandmrchay oh ok
mrmattandmrchay though why is J out of bounds?
Because it’s in a military training establishment. As with any MOD Site, there’s high security.
al66class59 oh thanks- didn’t know someone would reply to this comment made almost a year ago- or a year ago idk
hope the hospital broadmoor siren is still there
Can MAKE MORE OF THIS VIDEO
hi, sorry, I don't quite understand. This video, or you mean 'the siren' videos?
The reason siren F and G still remain is both are on private land and the NHS can’t access them to remove them
I’ve climbed the Wokingham siren 🤣
Um How Did You Do That It's Illegal
Trl
I worked there for years. Ghastly place and that's just the staff.
Ugh the UK 🇬🇧 again
