I might get hate for this but it seems to me that the biggest quality Ronaldo possessed was his speed and acceleration. He has a lot of talent but when you see in his younger years when he was the best in the world by a lot it looked like his speed allowed him to really get passed the defenders.

Of course speed is important but speed itself in football is useless if it isn’t complemented with technique and ball retention. Of course in this clip there are many goals R9 scored by running in from behind, but there are also many goals that he scored having to weave his way through a compact defence. If you don’t have agility or technical ability it wouldn’t be possible.

I might get hate for this but it seems to me that the biggest quality Ronaldo possessed was his speed and acceleration. He has a lot of talent but when you see in his younger years when he was the best in the world by a lot it looked like his speed allowed him to really get passed the defenders.
No bro unfortunatley if you say that i think you don t see him play but just in the highlights ...but also in the highlights you can understand how strong he was....its not only speed and acceleration like mbappe or haaland....watch better ....doing all the tricks see when he pass through the opponents in that space is impossible is like he enter in a wormhole all the skills he did was everyting at supersonic speed ....there was others players can do his tricks at that time but not with his speed...he had an amazing finishing ....dribbled everybody and everything and he had also a great physical strong....opponents try to stop him with fouls but can t do...and in the 90' wasn t like nowdays that when somebody touch you referee call the foul...in the 90' the defenders fight really hard and the referee don t call nothing
Of course speed is important but speed itself in football is useless if it isn’t complemented with technique and ball retention.

Can take out 3-4 players with 1 turn and open the pitch up and he did it all over the pitch. Haaland is just another striker we’ve seen dozens of times before him,Ronaldo was much more than that,he revolutionised the position,demanded the ball all over the pitch and often dropped deep to receive and drive with the ball and whenever he did the whole stadium of opposing fans went anxious cos they knew whenever he received the ball he would do something and slice up players. Did you watch Haaland last season? Was an 18 yard poacher nothing more,nothing less. No one,and I mean NO ONE,combined strength,power,speed,acceleration, dribbling and skill like El Fenomeno did. The only player ever to be nicknamed defenders nightmare. Played in the toughest and roughest league on the planet during the 90s in serie A and made a mockery of it. Just ask the likes of Maldini,Nesta and Canavaro whom were the best defenders not only in that league but in the world whom all have said he was an absolute nightmare to defend against. If a defender is big and strong he’d beat you with pace and skill and it a defender is quick and agile he’d just bulldoze his way through you. A 32 year old VVD and a 39 year old Thiago Silva have been able to contain Haaland whereas the best defenders on the planet in their peak were not able to contain Ronaldo. Haaland is a good striker but nothing we haven’t seen as standard in other strikers,whereas Ronaldo (pre injury) was an absolute prodigy that no one had seen anything like him since Maradona. Ronaldo is in the same bracket as legends like Maradona,Messi,Zidane ect I can’t believe I’m even debating this.
