- The Legend and Molly show you around the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago Illinois. This is one of my favorite museums on the planet with tons of exhibits to explore including the famous cole mine and submarine.

I think we can all agree that visiting this museum is one of the best ways of starting the summer weekend.
this has always been the best museum that I've been to anywhere in the country

1969---5th grade trip to Chicago--Museum of Science and Industry, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium! A lifetime of memories...!!
i went here about every year in elementary and middle school on the martin luther king week with my mom, brother, and usually a few friends until about 2010. we had an extra tuesday off because of a teacher workday. it was also free day, and the chicago schools were always back in class so it was never busy.
good to see jolleyball is up and running, thats probably my favorite part. have good memories from all areas of the museum, doing the coal tour, the chicks, the airplanes, trains, ice cream parlour, old time theatre, the cows/farm. We also did the make your own spin top that i still have.
Only things i didnt see here were the polymer lab, i think it could have been renovated into something else you showed? it was on the first floor near the coal mine entrance and also had some mirrors and arcade games. also there was a kid play area with a bunch of water and plastic balls that would be sent along a water stream. I think it was to the left of jolleyball.
We also did an imax once of ancient egypt that was pretty cool. Also went with ymca indian guides and slept overnight in the top area with the planes, it was awesome. Overall i really enjoyed the tour and brought back some good memories
I remember going to this Museum back in the early 70s when I was a kid. The Great Train Story was always my favorite. I remember the old layout with the shiny silver passenger cars that use to glisten in the light.
Science and Industry is my favorite museum. I been a member there for 5 years. I try to go there once a month. The Brick by Brick is amazing. It's worth paying for. Your be in there for hours. It been there since march of last year and goes to labor day. It was 2016 exhibit. Uselessly the year exhibit runs from march to the end of that year but Brick by brick was so popular that they expanded it twice. Once to march of this year then they expanded it again to labor day of this year. I been in brick by brick at less 5 times maybe 7 times.
I went to this museum for my eight grade trip in 2013 and I had so much fun there, I recommend it to anyone, everyone will find something there to love!
I went there in 2017 or 18 for my fourth grade trip. 10/10
Definitely will be visiting this museum when I make it out to Chicago

The museum of science & Industry was/is my favorite museum of all the ones in Chicago that's about the only thing I miss about Chicago but I'm glad we have RUclips so I can visit it again as much as I like. Somethings have changed but some have stayed the same like the coal mine, yesteryear, sub U505, whispering booth, I loved going here when we were little with my mother & sister we would then go to the beach on lake Michigan and have a picnic lots of fun & education at the same time much better than attending school.
I am thankful that I grew up in the chicagoland area and have been to this museum since at least 3 or 4 years old from what I can remember. Have seen all sorts of exhibits come and go, some are still there. Sucked when they replaced the giant heart you could walk through to some sort of digital form from what i recall. The oddest was probably the fetus exhibit with different containers/jars showing the different stages of a fetus. I think i may have been there for the one showing the nervous system and what not. One of my favorite is the giant model of chicago with the trains.
Miss the way it was in the 70s and 80s but still an incredible place
I'm with you. I grew up in Hyde Park and my mom took my family all the time. When we got older we went on our own sometimes and the entire museum was free back then. I haven't been there in years but I still remember some of those exhibits but alot of newer ones are there I see.
@@ISVVVc628 Its changed a lot. Its no longer free and it has changed a lot. Some old stuff is still there, but sadly most of the ones I liked are long gone. Still a neat place, but not nearly as much as it used to be
I lived about 4 blocks away when I was a kid in the 1960's. Believe it or not, it used to be free! Very cool place. Thanks for the vid.

The street from yesterday was put there when the museum was build for the Chicago Fair in the late 1800s . Those displays were things that were not sold at the expo. The movie theater is the first movie to ever play called moving pictures revealed at the fair. That’s the oldest movie n it’s still playing to this day I think that’s amaz

I grew up in the Chicago area and fortunately my father and the schools I went to loved the Museum of Science and Industry.
Ive lived in Arizona scince 1969. They used to say it would take you a month to take in every exibit. I was so young the first few times I went there that I just ran the words together not really even knowing what they meant.science? industry?. whenever my parents would offer to do something I would just say the magic words and if i was lucky we would go to that super cool neat Place.
However nice things were there was a serious problem. They(my parents) never took us kids through the submarine!!!
I'm 66 (today) and have only been back to Chicago a few times but a return visit now would definitely include a visit to the Museum of Science and Industry.
I miss the Tale of the Tub. Not exactly the cutting edge of technology anymore but as a kid, I loved watching the clothes swirl around in that giant, transparent washer. Anybody else remember that?

Oh my god, I remeber going to this years ago as 8-9 with my cousins!!! 😍😍😍 I also got a Toy Top from one of the toy factories, but it’s gone to this day… :(

When I was a kid, we would take field trips to MS&I, and I loved it. Watching this & looking back, I dearly wish I had visited again when I was in my 20s & in my "altered state" stage. I'm sure it would've blown my mind.
Oh wow! I haven't been there in years. it has some new really cool things. Thank you for this. I do remember that mini mansion doll house, I remember the mining thing, I remember this weird hallway where you stick your face in holes where lights shine on your face and your see yourself in mirrors as different clowns in different holes, and I also remember real dead babies during the 1st week til born creepy exhibit.
I been to this museum since 13 or 14 years ago.
I remember the machines that would make a souvenir Abraham Lincoln head too. I didn't see those. I always got one of those.
It might just be I’m from Chicago but the museum of science and industry is the best museum in the world for me

I was born in chicago one of my favorite places to go always changing now haven't been there since I was 16yrs old..I am amazed the coal mind is still there charging to see it? wow but the new machines coal minds is interesting, my question is NOW if we do the coal mind, submarine if we get there 9-10am can we see all of this by 3-4pm? it's so huge now I remember school trips we only spent 4hrs there, now think 6hrs hope can see it all. I would love to see all of it 10am -4pm that should be plenty of time for us, my husband likes to take his time see every piece taking forever so figure by 4pm we should be done seeing every exhibit coal minds, submarine etc. Baby chicks was always nice to see.thanks for video.

The last time I went I went with a friend who wax clostrophobic and all I heard through the whole tour was how it was closing in on him! If he was so damn clostrophobic , why in the hell would he go into something that makes a normal person feel clostrophobic?!
Completely ruined my whole day!!!
Unfortunately to keep the crowds moving they pack the tour groups in tighter than sardines. You're lucky if you can see anything or hear the tour guide I would have liked it better if there could be fewer people in each tour group, even if it would slow things down.

the museum has changed so much since we moved to Miami. However you should tell the guide that the U505 was taken from WWII not one. This is still my favorite museum.

I think it’s supposed to be an earlier model of a plane, and not a modern one
Early planes had more aisle room. But also, the plane was likely gutted of some of its features to make it tour friendly.

17:15 its not space food, it's science food. it took scientists to make this candy and soft drinks. only scientists could make the right blend of chemicals so it tasts great while we poisen ourselves!!!

This could have been a much better museum but all the best exhibits were upcharges and a lot of the free stuff felt really outdated. Personally I enjoyed the Art Institute a lot more.

I've watched so many vlogs/videos about Chicago and they never mention this museum. Luckily, I was able to visit the museum last time I went! One of my favorite museums and things to do in Chicago. Not sure why people do not talk about this place more

When I went to Chicago I went to the field museum. Honestly one of the most boring museums I've ever been to. I totally wish I went to this one. Also the Shedd aquarium is fantastic.

Nice video! When visiting another city or country, every educated person must visit a museum. Visiting museums is very useful and fascinating. A love for the "eternal" and "beautiful" is awakened in a person, the beginnings of greatness and respect for history are inculcated. It is impossible to turn the excursion into something banal, ordinary and boring. The person should be a comprehensively developed person, cultured, educated, critically and analytically thinking, with knowledge of foreign languages. It is the knowledge of a foreign language that opens wide prospects for a person to realize his/her creative potential, career and financial growth. I would like to recommend the practical training course by Yuriy Ivantsiv "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language", where you can find lots of useful information how to learn a foreign language quickly. Learn a foreign language and realize your creative potential on an international scale! The international community needs creative ideas! my brother use to work there cleaning and he experienced so much discrimination he quit and what shocked me is that it was racial comments by African American employees other than Whites he told me they thought he was a Mexican and threw their trash on the floor in the employee lunch room and yelled clean that up Taco! We are Native American not Mexican sad place to work glad he quit and sad you are not aware of how other people treat co-workers there.
