Let's not forget that (4x) G8 Hyrax + (4x) PL Dual-stage = $106, while (4x) JC Tusk = $50. And the Tusks will perform on their stock foams, while the Hyrax really won't.
These have been on my radar since they dropped... Thanks for the unbiased box stock review. I bet they'll be much more well-rounded with pl dual stage or the like.
After trying the tusk first on my g speed build with factory foams.I put 3.4 Halo inside the tusks and ran them again.They are a very capable tire for wet and dry rocks
I wonder how well these tires will preform with the anti-foams to improve side hilling and still conform to the rocks. Maybe that’s something you could do a test on to see if it improves on decent and side hills.

@@runnerbaba yes I understand that but those Hyrax looked more than worn in. Not complaining as I appreciate this channel very much. Just coming from a DH mountain bike background you would never do a tire test with a new set and a “worn in set” it isn’t good really a fair comparison , but they did crawl good and those Tusks climbed ratty good for not being broken in. Either way it’s a win as I had never seen that tire before. Be good ya Big German 🤘
So am I to understand that the Hyrax have upgraded foams and the Tusk have stock foams?? And this is a fair comparison how?? Maybe use stock Hyrax foams for truly non biased review.
G8 has been around the longest and is a proven compound. While the predator is softer, it also doesn’t last near as salon and is more likely to tear. Predator compound is meant more for comp crawling than a scale/trail truck.
@@Cooldibs this is strictly rock crawling... I’ve been running two sets for a year best tires I’ve ever had. This comparison was weighted towards this new tire looking better like a commercial.
Great videos. Although this isn't really a fair comparison, as they're two different setups. Your Hyrax's are also hairy and broken in, so of course they're going to grip better. I would also reevaluate your other video comparing the Hyrax to the KM3 Krawler, in which you can clearly see the KM3 outperform the Hyrax. Before noticing that, I bought the Hyraxs based on your videos, only to discover they are an inferior tire. I have both the KM3 and Hyrax in predator compound, and I'm actually going to sell the Hyrax. The lugs collapse when trying to hook anything, I'm not optimistic about their durability with so much siping, and in application, the Hyrax struggles on every line that is a cakewalk for the Krawlers. In most of your testing, you're on worn out concrete obstacles or smooth rock on landscaping features
Sweet looking wheels, but those hyrax were low on tread i doybythey will beat brand new hyrax as the jconcepts were brand new and the hyrax were very low on tread it looks like just an opinion but great video and great looking new tires 😀
I hate it when RUclips channels state "Tire test" and then use different foams in each, such as dual stage in one and a single stage foam in the other, rendering the test useless. At least use the foams the tires come with if not the same
I used the dual-stage foam in the Jconcepts and it was awful. It was too big and too stiff. Reading their instructions, it's essential that their foam be used since it's tuned for the tire and allows the tire to conform which is key to the tire.
Why not test the tires on an equal playing field foam wise? A tire with dual stage foams is going to outperform a stock foam setup any day. Once again another misleading video..
They can't be any worse than the rc4wd mickey baja pros 🤷♂️ damn things turn into slicky mickeys once they get dirty, and have zero support for the lugs

Most tyres gets better when they are used!! New tyres dont have peak performance.

J concepts make some great tyres but need to work on product names..

what is difference between g8 and predator? i was always told predator is better.
Predator are okay at first but, they wear out super quick since they're so soft. I run G8 instead. It's a great compound.

Use a lighter wt shock oil. It will transform the TRX any thing.

I like how they look similar to the Mickey Thompson Baja Pro X and are slightly cheaper.
That’s the bonus. Cheaper and they look a lot more realistic.

Should of used predator compound. The g8 doesn’t collapse like the green j concepts and the predator would of done that probably better.
