Three-time Emmy Award-winning actress Cady McClain returns to The Locher Room for a one-on-one interview live on Tuesday, October 25th at 3 p.m. EST / 12 p.m. PST.
Cady will be here to tell us about her work as the Artistic Director of the Axial Theatre. Axial is a twenty-three-year-old not-for-profit institution dedicated to supporting the professional development of the independent voice through audience involvement and a commitment to presenting challenging, intelligent, and culturally relevant theatrical experiences.
Cady is currently directing Axial’s latest production, Never the Sinner by John Logan. The star-studded cast features Broadway actor Trent Dawson, Tuesdays With Morrie star Albi Gorn, Michael Howard Conservatory Members Tom Ryan and Michael M. Alva, and Axial Theatre Members Bruce Apar, Youlim Nam and special guest Najah Imani Muhammad. McClain will be directing and producing alongside Axial Board Members Steven Williford (Emmy© Winning Director), Amanda Quinn Olivar (Editor-in-Chief, Curator.Guide), and Axial Ensemble member Dan Walworth.
Never the Sinner is based on the true story of two young men, Nathan Leopold (Tom Ryan) and Richard Loeb (Michael M. Alva), who murder a local boy to prove their superiority and claim the right to having committed “the crime of the century.” The case is argued by two esteemed lawyers, Clarence Darrow (Albi Gorn) and Robert Crowe (Trent Dawson). While Crowe wants to fulfill the outraged nation’s cry for a hanging, Darrow argues for the rights of all human beings to be shown mercy, no matter how shocking the crime.
The play will be produced at Bethany Arts Community in Ossining (N.Y.), Nov. 10 - 13 and Nov. 17 - 20, 2022. Thursday through Saturday shows are 8 p.m. Sunday performances are 3 p.m. A post-show discussion of the topics of the play will follow each performance, led by Cady along with members of the ensemble and special guests.
An industry trailblazer for more than three decades, Cady was recognized by Deadline.com for being the first woman to win three Emmys© for her acting work on three different daytime shows (All My Children, As the World Turns and Days of Our Lives) in three different categories on three different networks in three different decades. She continues to recur on Days of Our Lives.
Don’t miss the chance to catch up with Cady on Tuesday, October 25th.

It's amazing that Cady won daytime emmys for AMC, ATWT, DAYS and she wasnt even the original actor for any of those roles. Love her.
So true. A testament to her talent.
Cady - wow, the last time Alan interviewed you that I recall, it was early pandemic, and the Zoom interview was you, John and Michael E. Knight! I’m one of your biggest fans, ever since the time I met you at the last big AMC fan event in July 2011 at Studio City, CA, and I felt so overwhelmed, and you were so kind and compassionate toward me in the autograph line! I could tell you were a person of both tremendous integrity and great empathy - and I AM SO GLAD you have this wonderful career as a theater artistic director, that you are directing plays, and you are doing what you love! I also have your book, “Murdering My Youth,” which I can only read in small doses here and there - it’s difficult, but I respect you for how you face difficulties and demons with such honesty and truth! While us fans miss your incredible range on daytime, I’m glad you are in theater. All my best to you and John and in every aspect of your life’s journey! God bless!
💛💛💛
Great actress, she used to play Dixie on All My Children !
Yes she did, Amanda!
@@TheLocherRoom loved her as dixie on all my children and as rosanna on as the world turns.
Truly, wonderful actress like a breath of fresh air. Thank you
You're so welcome, Debbie!
@@TheLocherRoom Great interview with Dixie I mean Cady McClain!🤗❤🙏👍
I really admire Cady! Such talent.
Such a talent! I couldn't agree more.
I watched Cady her whole AMC run. I always loved her as an actress. I'm happy she got to experience different roles. I was glad to hear that her and John got together. I still have one of her recipes from SOD. The play sounds very thought provoking. I wish I lived in the area.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this. I would love to rewatch Rosanna Cabot. Love Cady. :)
Thank you, Stephanie!
Thank you Alan for a wonderful interview with Cady. She is such a great actress and creative person. Just got my tickets to see Never the Sinner! Looking forward to the play.
Oh wow, Diane! Let me know how you like it.
@@TheLocherRoom I will!
@@TheLocherRoom Superb interview!
Lazy summer Sunday afternoon and found my way to this interview you did with Cady McClain - one of my faves! I can't believe this went under my radar until now. This was such a nice, down-to-earth interview. It felt like listening to a close relative telling me stories. Thanks Alan for the continued entertainment!!
I'm thrilled you found it and even more thrilled that you enjoyed it.
I grew up watching Cady as Dixie on All My Children with Tad!!! Love her!! West Virginia!!!!!!
😍😍😍
Cady goes to SIng Sing? Thank you for this One on One. Loeb and Leopold were from Hyde Park, around the University of Chicago, in the city. Barrack Obama lives just off Hyde Park Blvd.
I didn't know that. Thanks for tuning-in.
Great Show Alan. I was addicted to AMC all those years ago! Cady is amazing. Great times!
Glad to hear it, JJ! Thanks for the note.
What a wonderful interview an actors actor! I just had a feeling she would be a delightful actress and I was right! It’s a shame when she was on young and restless she truly was fantastic it’s the writers fault sometimes they can’t write properly for actors and actresses in their roles perfect example also Gina tognoni was incredible as the character Phyllis summer !
Glad you enjoyed it, Benjamin!
Sorry watching late I think with Cady she should have been the recast phylis and gina tognie should have been the recast for the Kelly andrews part which Cynthia watros played first a perfect example of something I have repeaditely saying and seems to be a pattern on soaps.
I know that was the jfp days and don't get me started on David Tom.
And jfp and her comments at the time as Billy Miller based his performances on David Tom.
And y and r for years had tried to get him back as Billy and when he finnaly comes back you let him go with a dumb perception that he looked to young.
He looked in the same age range as Amelia hienle and Melissa Claire Egan.
Sorry I had to point that out as that was at the same time period and Cady deserved better at the time
@@gabrielstern4992 you’re absolutely correct I agree 👍
I also need to add an additional comment that also Ties to what bengamin said and Alan Cady is a perfect example of what.
I have repeaditaly been saying and noticing that was a pattern on many soaps.
Such a wonderful talent and actress but would get cast in the wrong part or in her case going to atwt instead of her contining to play Dixie and give her good storyline deprived AMC viewers of watching her continue to play Dixie.
And then when she came back as Dixie Megan McTavish who knew how to write for her wrote an awful storyline for her.
That was so out of charecter she was out again as Dixie.
But thank God when loriene Broderick was back as headwriter she straightened that out. And Dixie was sounding like Dixie again.
Another example that started years earlier was Christopher cousins.
A great actor also and talent but on oltl had him play Cain Rogan instead of a recast cord Robert's.
And I am saying this because I have seen the comments on other forums.
And trust me concerning oltl people still hold grudges against especially jfp for Bo and Nora.
Who were like the Tom and Margo of oltl.
I am mentioning it because in cady's case at y and r Jean and Leah both knew how to write both for her and gina.
But I think it was more jfp.
And I say that because I like jfp and I do appreciate her honesty from the interview you did with her.
But is an example of what happens when you are feeling you have to rush and change things and go to far.
Without actually taking the time to actually learn the show and it's history.
Because you could have all this talent and hire a great actor or actress like Cady or gina but can't figure out or take the time to cast them in the correct parts.
And write them so people care about the charecter.
Got it, Gabriel. Thanks for your incredible insight.
Sorry Alan just getting to watch now.
I will say this I loved Cady as Dixie and I will say this concerning her comment about Rosanna.
She is right about the b word but Rosanna was not a b when Yvonne perry played her and that's a perfect example of why Yvonne was Rossana to me.
Ohh and for those that think I am against all recasts Cady was a recast Dixie herself with a story kind of like Martha Byrne as lily.
And as I commented I think concerning y and r for that time Cady should have been the recast Phyllis and gina who I also love and think is a great actress should have been Kelly andrews.
Now to days and jenifer deveroux to me Missy reeves is jenifer but Cady the first time did a tremendous job temporaly filling in but the second time after missy came back.
Kind of made me mad and was necessated by the decision to kill off Abigail due to days taping way to far in advance.
But I am glad they wrote jack and jenifer out of town.
But seeing Cady playing jenefer relapsing on her pill addiction was painful as missy played that the first time.
Hopefully I can watch Cady soon grace our TV screens again as Dixie on the so called prime time version of AMC because it's been far too long.
And I miss her as Dixie and yes I hold no grudges against Cady or the charecter Dixie for having to play that awful Dixie storyline that Megan McTavish wrote with Dixie and her death via poisoned pancakes.
And that whole storyline and Cady still played it with class.
Anyway happy weekend
Never apologize for watching at a later time, Gabriel.
