I actually loved this concept, the idea that Venti represent as the “wind” carrying Aether's last message to whoever he wishes to. As his mortal body became one with the earth, his hope and dream bloomed into thousand of flower, continuing his legacy to exist within the legend. Far off the distance land, thunder soar with rages, the rain cried it's grief from the passing of traveler, fire quickly spread through the nation, becoming one of the only light that will exist, until the abyss engulfe it all.
imagine when in the ending aether/lumine actually died in the lore and then you go to you character menu and then see "this character has already expired"....

Funny thing I learnt not so long ago (By that I mean Venti lore):
I dont remember who, but in the gameplay of genshin, a character says something around these lines;
"The wind is able to take any form it wishes" With the wind being symbolised as Venti, since he is merely a wind creature. That said, that would mean Venti cant only take the form of dead friends, but any living creature possible. (Just with the disadvantedge of having cyan tints in every single one of his forms, because those forms could never really be him.)
