@@ZeroXSEED Thats the same logic that boxing gloves are more dangerous then bare fists. Its absolutely true, but for an unexpected reason. There is no risk of breaking your hand when hitting the head, so people just go wild and end up knocking people out, which barely ever happened before we used gloves.
On top of that, it's somewhat cursed due to it constantly soaked with instant ramen soup, parfaits, snot and occasionally blood......from battles and non-battles (ie. a certain ninja's hemorrhoids)
Gintoki truly the GOAT 🗣️🗣️🗣️. 5:44 Makes Absolute sense since Gintoki chooses to bash people with his bokuto instead of ending them with his Katana 10:34 Well ofc Gintoki is canonically the strongest Shounen Jump character to begin with 😂
Remember that Musashi himself won a duel by carving a boat oar into a Bokken and beating a dude to death with it because he was late and forgot his Katana.
10:02 The "Hoshikudaki," or Star Destroyer, is known to cut through almost anything. This bokuto is handcrafted from the wood of a ten-thousand-year-old tree found on a mysterious alien planet. Despite the many times the wooden blade has broken, it appears that its spirit is unbreakable.
Gintoki’s wooden sword placed so high because it’s grounded in reality. Also, love that Warakiri-san saw the Guts’ sword and immediately went “yeah, that’s gonna be last place”. By the way, I think it was a miss opportunity when you didn’t include something like Sephiroth’s Masamune. Yes, the thing is ridiculous. But I remember Japan has the Tanto. An oversized katana similar to that. It would be interesting to draw comparison between the two.
Joey don't look down on wooden swords, even Musashi loves using them since they are harder to break than katanas, in the majority of his 60+ duels he fought with a bokken most of the time and killed his opponents with it including Kojiro.
I think him fighting with sticks all the time is a later exaggeration to make him sound cooler, I can't recall him saying anything in particular about preferring to fight with sticks in his own writing. A stick is a worse weapon.
4:24 Actually it’s *Ryujin* Jakka 🤓😂 4:34 Since Warakiri-sensei is a RuroKen fan, I wanna hear his opinion of Shishio’s Mugenjin since it also ignites fire 🔥 Awesome videos of Katana & Samurai back-to-back!! Thx Joey
Inosuke sword is supposed to imitate animal bites. Though it's quite clean looking, judging by how he makes the jag.. it would look more like kenpachi's blade.. though kenpachi's blade was supposed to portray worn down sword .
8:38 I'm sure as Rurouni Kenshin fan, sensei probably already saw this bigass sword used by Sanosuke Sagara too in the manga, it's called Zanbato. The Chinese called it "zhan ma dao", said to be used by cavalries to cut off another mounted opponent along with the opponent's horse. While it is real & actually exist in the ancient past, no one actually can verify for real if it's actually ever used in combat.
1. Ryujin Jakka’s Yamamoto’s Shikai! 2. His Bankai’s Zanka no Tachi! 3. He consentrates the Flames onto the Blade makin it EXTREMELY HOT! 4. It has different Powers w/ each Direction! 5. East condenses ALL the Flames 2 the Tip, and anything hit by it is blown away Without a Trace! 6. West and he’s sheilded by a Firey cape of Flames equal in Heat 2 the core of the Sun! 7. There were many more options for the bleach pick tbh that would have been interesting like shunsui or jushiros double swords or fullbring bankai ichigo and one i would have like to see was izuru kiras curved shikai form
I'm only slightly disappointed because you said Ryuujin Jakka was Yamamoto's bankai.. His bankai condenses the flames inside the blade making it look much more like a blackened katana (Bleach was my obsession for a long time, don't judge me 🥲)
As the guy said, bokken is basically a wooden club. It's usually made of with oak wood, specifically red or white oak, which means it's hard enough to crack your skull but soft enough that it won't break into a million pieces when you strike somebody in the head. While it's not an immediate deadly weapon like a katana or an iron club, if one is lucky enough (or unlucky depending who's receiving a bokken to their face) it can cause brain hemorrhage.
This video is awesome! You guys should check out European flamberge or wavy blades, and also Kriegsmesser. Obanai's sword and Yoru have a lot in common with those
Can relate... Well made wooden/bamboo sword can also be used as a good weapon. I have a 10-12 y/o bamboo sword & its still pretty solid. Made out of a piece of really big bamboo stem, shape it like bokuto, dipped in the liquid paint for an hour, dried under the sun & coated with black spray paint... Not sharp but pretty hard solid for a bamboo stick, & already killed alot of snakes, & couple of small monitor lizard terrorizing my farm...
Joey, there is clips of a guy documenting himself practicing wielding the Berserk or Cloud’s Sword. Initially he could not do it but after a few months he could swing it around and he also muscled up 😬
Dude, Gintoki's Toyako is based AF. I remembered it cut through concrete and metal with ease in the Anime showing how reliable this blade is. It rarely breaks in the anime too, the first time it broke was when Gintoki had a "Duel" with Kondo lol.
Haven't seen Bleach, but it would be a super cool (if impractical) concept for a character to carry around something like six or seven swords, wield one at a time while using a power like Shigekuni's Bankai to boost their damage, then when the power runs out, the blade shatters into a ton of flaming fragments and they draw another one.
My wooden katana looks almost exactly like that and it wooshes around very nicely. Of course, i must take care not to break it. It's deadly against pinata's, however.
I will have to comment on the diamon section part. European blades are usually diamond cross-section and are still -very- thin. A good european Longsword is so thin that if you point it at someone's eye you have a hard time seeing the blade. They cut -really- well if they're well made, not hatchet-like at all.
I was thinking of Joey mentioning Miyamoto Musashi's dual katana wielding as how practical was it for him back in time to invent his own style of Ni Ten Ichi Ryu technique
At the glance of Obanai's katana at 6:02, it looks more like at an elongated Malay Keris/Kris from Malaysia. It's mostly being used for stabbing attack, instead of katana's slicing attack. Kudos to the mangaka for introducing 'katana' from different part of the world in manga.
I raise you Tarou Tachi of Touken Ranbu. The real blade is housed in Atsuta Jingu in Aichi. It's 221.5cm or over 7ft 3in long in freedom units. No idea on the weight but I know most people wouldn't be able to wield it due to it's length. I regret having lived so close to the shrine but knowing nothing about Touken Ranbu until after I moved away. One day I'll go see it.
I actually thought we was gonna clown on the goat samurai of anime gintoki, who woulda thunk he's the actual carrying the goat amongst goats of swords as well...
I thought tsuba was its own thing and not to be translated to hand guard but I’m no expert, just curious. Nvm the dialogue immediately after what I said explains how it just means hand guard

Obanai's blade is based off a more so middle eastern weapon iirc? so makes sense it wouldn't really work like a kanata especially if it were built like one. 😅 Kanata are pretty thick blades. 😳
My philosophy has always been anything can be a weapon, it just all depends how you use it. So in reality a wooden katana can be just as effective, even more effective than a steel blade. It terms of effectiveness varies when you consider anything being a weapon.
Ah yes joey bizinger posting anime video while the anime man posts video about last samurai.
It is indeed our josh the manga lad
Josh desu uwe
him ranking gintoki's bukuto as first is GOAT
I did not expect it at all
wooden sword #1, legendary
He even says it in the show I think, that the wooden sword is better, Either that or it was a joke on the community
Wooden swords kill more people in duels than katana does.
Musashi is kind of guilty for that lol.
@@ZeroXSEED Thats the same logic that boxing gloves are more dangerous then bare fists. Its absolutely true, but for an unexpected reason. The thing that makes it funny is Gintoki actually bought Toyako Bokuto on TV Shopping Channel lmao
Bahhahaha.....😂
And you too can buy a Katana off the internet.
On top of that, it's somewhat cursed due to it constantly soaked with instant ramen soup, parfaits, snot and occasionally blood......from battles and non-battles (ie. a certain ninja's hemorrhoids)

When in doubt improvise! 😂
wasn't he late on purpose to make the guy super salty?
@@ChriSX13 Yeah, it takes more time to carve up a wooden sword than to get or borrow a new metal one, it was definitely done on purpose.
And the funniest part was how much the people were hyping up Sasaki Kojiro for his new sword technique

Swords in bleach represent the user's soul. So except for 3 characters everyone has only 1 sword.

Its neat how your speach petterns completely change when you speak Japanese. Its really cool, like english you and japanese you are different people
