I love the visual symbolism of Sil's dream here, It seems to suggest her human half is at war with her alien half and the two are constantly conflicting with each other hence why she is always having nightmares to an extreme level. She's running away from the train because her human half fears the inevitable is coming and is trying desperately to avoid it, not wanting to come to terms with who/what she really is. You could also say this is a reflection of humanity(us the viewer) in of itself because we seem to have a tendency to deny who we really are and not wanting to face the reality of our condition most of the time whether if it's our sexuality, our mortality, war, fear of differences, change, our violent nature etc. This movie is a lot deeper than people give it credit for! Too bad the sequels were terrible.
They way you put it makes sense. Her cries as she is changing is very heart breaking because I believe that moment is when her human side realizes it has lost.
@@Cazz8203 Lmao yeah i also wanted to state this, by any chance you just watched Exploring Species? Idk if this scene was actually a interpretation of something or just a random shot because the designer desperately wanted a Ghost train in a Movie. Maybe both.
Del Catty Luna I know what you mean, my cousins introduced me to this movie and my god! I cudn't sleep well or right for nights... after this scene i didn't wanna remember this movie... now it's been years, lets say more than a decade, and I'm still terrified to watch it again lol
That explains a lot... XD it most definitely explains all the writhing and deformities that occur when I eat chocolate, but mostly it explains all the tentacles.
I watched this 15+ years ago as a kid on the SYFY channel and it traumatized me. I had a hard time ever finding what the movie was called and even what exactly happened. All I remembered was a girl ate a lot of food and started turning into a monster. It’s nice to finally get some closure from something that really did haunt my nightmares for a while. 😂
So glad I'm not the only one! This movie jumps in and out of my head and TODAY I finally decided to put an end to it and find the damn title. Was starting to think I was suffering the Mandela effect. So happy to see I wasn't the only one traumatized as a child by this scene. Even happier to finally find it!
Apparently that skull train scene wasn’t going to happen, as it was too expensive to film for such a throwaway scene, but Giger actually paid for it out of his own pocket. However, the original scene would've had the train sucking up dozens of child Sils with a vacuum and would've been about 30 seconds, rather than the pitiful 14 we got in the final film.
Was just thinking it was a remarkable amount of work to build that model (which you can see in the BTS) for just 3 quick shots. Makes way more sense now.. he WANTED it 😅. When he he is explaining it, it’s like watching a kid show you his favorite new toy set.. “and this one plugs into this one, and this one can…” lol
Because of this scene, which I had blocked out. I have a severe phobia of worms. I saw this when I was young. And I was trying to retrace where that fear came from and BOOM I found it. Good job to the creators. Truly terrifying lol
It's not really about puberty(this is an alien we're talking about here lol), it's more like Sil having to come to terms with what she really is and can not escape the inevitable.
😐 Oh yes, puberty we all have been there, if you know what I'm talking about when you are scared of change in your body and then you get use to it over time, disturbing isn't it
Sil was very dangerous because she let her alien side take control like Patrick in number 2 the less evil and dangerous one for me was Sarah eve and Patrick’s daughter she didn’t kill anyone for no reason yes she wanted to mate but she couldn’t cause her eggs were gone and she was very worried about her species dying out eve wasn’t to bad either she didn’t kill anyone either she only let her alien side take control in the final scenes even then she helped stop Patrick
Jesus i would drown my self if i was a alien human experiment with things crawling out of your fingers and your tounge changes uhhhhh! My god! Why they made this movie
I've been looking for this scene for the longest, but I couldn't remember if the film was Species or not. I can remember when I saw this film as a child, and I was creep out by the girl eating all of this chocolate pudding and junk food, and then when the alien began to take over her body. So weird and creepy!
In school,we were creating our own creatures and then when my teacher saw mine he said it looked like the main character from Species. I didn't know what Species was
This scene shows exactly how weak we humans are.We cannot control our own body,it is indeed very hard to control all aspects of our bodies but we cannot control the very basic things like hormonal fluctuation.
People wondered why Michelle Williams wasting her career with Venom movies after her Oscar nomination, but you realized she starred in this in her early years and suddenly it clicks. Sony probably went and said, "Wanna become a tentacle alien to kiss Tom Hardy?" and she answered with a straight yes.
I always felt bad for Sil in this scene. She's just a kid, and it's clear on her face she's in pain and terrified. She has no idea what she is. For a little while, she got to just be a kid, eating junk food and watching TV. Poor Sil.
OMG me too! This is the movie that traumatized me as a young kid. I never wanted to eat chocolate pudding. No one understood what I was going through. LMAO

Since then I'm trying to find it, and finally I found. God this scene made me go nights and nights sleepless, looking at the door hahahahahaha really traumatized me

Ok
Actually its because the alien designer hr giger always had this idea for a ghost train and really fought to have his idea inserted into the movie
