Good Morning Everyone! Retail Donruss Football Blaster boxes actually have more value than I initially expected. They seem to have a high floor with the amount of rated rookies you get per box and a very high ceiling with the Crunch Times, Rated Rookie Optic Previews, and of course the Downtowns!

Think I’m passing on Donruss even though I was initially excited for it. Seems like more quantity than quality. Ordered a couple Zenith blasters with guaranteed hits and am looking forward to Phoenix Wednesday!
i dont blame you at all, these are like absolute retail but a higher floor. fun rip if you are looking for something cheap! i have only heard awesome things about the zenith blasters. Im really excited for those! I have the break scheduled for Thursday, I wanted to make sure the boxes got here in time so im going to do it the day after release day
Would be nice if they started adding Isiah Pacheco, the rookie RB on the Chiefs. 7th rounder that took the starting job and had some great plays during the Super Bowl. Only RC he has are from Xr, Rookie & Stars and Elite.
They need too. Hes not in enough sets for how good he was this season

i agree with you on the santa downtown.. if for a holiday season set, wouldve been a cooler concept to have players in a uniform that resembled santas suit but in their team colors that wouldve kept the football concept. thats just my take on what wouldve been cool to see

💯 agree about Absolute. Our wal mart here usually has zero cards on the shelf, but I left Absolute sitting the other day even though it was the only product because it’s just not good lol Even with Donruss having so much base, the inserts are so much better and of course Rated Rookies are always hot!

The inserts are great but too much base in my opinion. Will probably stay away from blasters but may pick up some value packs if they release them. Thanks for sharing with us!

I had some of the 90 pro set Santa’s as a kid. Wouldn’t mind getting a Santa downtown. I got some of these from target as well. Not bad for the price, much better than the hobby box price.
Exactly these blasters are much easier to stomach price wise than the hobby box. And to be honest i got more value out of my boxes at $100 less than a hobby box
I ordered 1 blaster Donruss box to try my luck on Downtown . :-) That is it. I bought 1 Absolute Box 25$ before for Kaboom. Very much like Lottery Ticket :-)

I think a good way to entice people into newer sets is also traded players in updated uniforms. Christian McCaffrey for example. Most sets have him in the Panthers uniform, but I've seen him in Zenith and Rookies & Stars in a 49ers uniform which many 49ers fans will be excited to get their hands on. Then maybe having Purdy game photos instead of practice jersey too. Good vid. Have a couple blasters of Donruss on the way as well but not expecting to get rich on these lol.
i agree, the good thing about these sets coming out a little later is that panini now has the freedom to swap jersey photographs or add different pictures to the print run!

Santa downtown is kind of like a Pokémon to me investment wise. The big risk with buying sports rookie cards is they can get hurt. Santa can’t get hurt. Only way value goes down is if it loses popularity which doesn’t look like will happen. The Santa DT is the only reason I’ll buy some Donruss for the very first time in my life.
that's actually a great way of thinking about it, great input! This is why i always ask for everyone's thoughts because i get comments like this that make me look at it a different way than how I would approach something!
Do you guys think I should buy some 2022 donruss or stick with 21? I feel like 21 has the higher ceiling for rookie qbs but please correct me if I’m wrong
2021 is great but its already starting to get pricey with Tlaw emerging as the talent he was promised to be. 2022 is at least still lower cost right now

People are sleeping on Donruss retail, but I think it’s a great product. I like the inserts, rated rookies, and downtowns of course. I’m thinking my box was pretty good with the crunch time and optic rated rookies preview. You had some solid blasters too with the points and some good rookie inserts. It’s a fun rip, and pretty good value wise in my opinion.
Also, I think I’ll grab the Lions in that break if I’m quick enough!

downtowns seem extremely hard to pull, i've only seen 1 hit so far
some of this year's inserts look nice! But still I feel I like last year's base design more than this year's. Thanks for sharing as always.

I agree Absolute rookies are a dime a dozen. It's actually hard to pull a good Rated Rookie. Look at Mahomes and Allen comps. Donruss is a good hold.
yessir like you said rated rookies actually hold their value and increase over time. gotta love the classics
Allen and Mahomes were pre-boom. It’s hard to imagine any current base cards coming even close to sniffing that value with current production rates.
Do you have any idea of what the odds are for pulling a downtown out of a blaster? Are they posted anywhere?
The only thing i could go off of would be a that its a case hit and a case of blasters in normally 20 so i would have to say 1/20 boxes
Given that I was collecting back in 91/92 and do remember the Santa SPs fondly, I'm ok with the Downtown version. However, if I pulled one I'd likely sell or trade it for an actual NFL player I PC. Thanks for a nice review as always. I've got 3 of these that were delivered yesterday I'm looking forward to opening 😀

These blasters remind me of the 2023 Topps series 1 baseball, alot of commons but really nothing else.

My 3 blasters from target yielded a optic preview, not a big name that I can recall right now, and a production line patty mahommes #’d to 50!

donruss zenith and rookies and stars blasters all dropped recently. got my donruss blasters coming in soon but walmart delayed my zenith boxes until further notice

I had very mixed emotions about these, but I did pull a crunch time Drew Brees. Overall for $25 it’s solid, looking forward to seeing more about zenith though.
I think these are much better than people give them credit for. A fun rip at the same price as absolute and illusions with a higher floor and comparable ceiling. Im still waiting for my zenith to come in they got delayed
@@AcmePacks Mine also got delayed, but for the price Donruss is still a pretty enjoyable rip. I just wish I had more rookies I was looking for, I opened three blasters and pulled everyone I really wanted beside Watson. But still enjoyable nonetheless

I would say mosaic football or donruss football right now! I have also heard Zenith retail is really good!
@@AcmePacks I opened a few donrus packs recently pulled a purple optic 14/50 Desmond ridder is the best I got out of them. But I will try the mosaic box, recommend the hangers too?

$150 haha not $1500. And some times you do sometimes you dont. If i sold every single card that i pulled here today thought i would most likely get my money back. But thats not the case with every set
