    In case no one else said it Major Healey was not in the Air Force like Major Nelson. He was in the Army. Henceforth the Green uniform. Notice the engineer castle on his uniform. Meaning he was in the Army Corp of Engineers detached to NASA. The reason it's the castle and not the Aviator's insignia is the corp waan't created until 1983. And one more thing. Larry Hagman was in the Air Force and Bill Daley was in the Army before their acting careers.

    It is very funny since the advent if the HD flat screens, we now can watch all the 60s and 70s TV shows and you can literally pic out all the cheesy F/X that they used back then and also the heavy make up that they put on there actors, back then they did not know we where going to have High Def, TVs so back in the day when watching these shows on a 19 inch Black and of which most families had back then you could not notice the strings and low budget gag's that they used, just watch an eposode of Lost in Space and you can the obvious set back drops that they used with the fade and all the wrinkles in the tarps that where used, it's pretty funny. great video!!

    I do believe, after the show was canceled, the cast and crew didn’t like the network forcing Jeannie and Tony to marry, so as a middle finger to NBC, they had the set destroyed, as they didn’t like the reworked set for Jeannie and Tony’s marriage. So only the outside of the set was the only surviving prop, until it was destroyed this year.

    Upon rewatching season 1, the next 3 episodes to air after episode 1 might seem like there in order, but they’re not. If we the audience are supposed to believe that Tony is still engaged to marry Melissa, then why would Roger want Tony to go on a double date with him, if he knew about Tony and Melissa we’re going to be married? The reason being, My Hero? is out of order in storyline, it should’ve been, Episode 2, Guess What Happened on the Way to the Moon, Episode 3, Jeannie, and the Marriage Caper, then Episode 4, My Hero?

I bet a lot of these things that are so obviously now weren't so much back then. Like when you can see the stage floor in the Swiss Alps. Remember back then the TV's picture tubes sere so rounded off that I bet you can see the edge of the screen like these days. Also the clarity back then is certainly not as good on those 19" screens. In Star Trek Space Seed the fight between Kirk and Khan in Engineering is SO obvious the stunt double. It's almost painful how obvious it is now. But not so much back then.

    You are mostly correct about the self-driving car, the stunt person who was driving was on the floor of the car, using the "box" as you call it as a periscope to see what was ahead of him. It's shown in a couple POV shot to be a Kleenex box sitting on the dash, something common for that time. The stunt driver steers the car (which has a manual steering wheel, no power steering back then) with his hands down low, and uses his foot to accelerate and break. It's an oddly dangerous stunt for Hagman to be involved with. Plus twice during this scene they run the film backwards and Hagman can be seen running backwards.

    With regards to Dr. Bellows forgetting about Jeannie each time, it was established in the episode "My Hero" that Jeannie can make humans forget any event or person. She did that when Tony was stuck in the floor. She blinked Roger 'frozen' (presumably in time, and not temperature) and told Tony that "he would remember nothing of this". And, after she blinked out, he didn't.
    So, I consider that an established fact about her powers, which can carry over into all subsequent episodes.
    Also, that episode is likely out of order and really should have been episode #4 because not only is there never any mention of Melissa (Stone, the daughter of the general), but Roger is also getting Tony a date for that evening. That never would have happened if he was still engaged to Melissa.

    • @outsider238
      @outsider238  2 года назад +1

      That makes sense but they probably should reiterated that for the viewers especially since the show was weekly back then and the audience wouldn't remember. I think more than anything it was due to the fact that there was probably different writers who may not have known what other writers did in past episodes.

    • @Jinnitaur
      @Jinnitaur 2 года назад +1

      @@outsider238 Yes, the problem with the show (and all others of the time period) was that they didn't have a "show bible". That's the world-building guide to a show, including all of the facts about each character. Writers have to read it and abide by its rules to write for a show like that today. Otherwise, you get all of the inconsistencies we have to deal with in Jeannie (and "fix" in fanfic).

      That's possible, but it would be odd for Jeannie to keep doing that without it being written in the script that way. In Season 2, the 2nd time Dr. Bellows "meets" Jeannie (she was working for General Peterson trying to get Tony promoted) Dr. Bellows does recognize Jeannie as the woman who Tony was engaged to. Tony denied it of course.

    • @Jinnitaur
      @Jinnitaur Год назад

      @@phillipk.brodie9662 I don't see why it would have to be written into the script when it's been established that is something she can do, and of which Tony approves. Why wouldn't he want her to keep doing it? It keeps him out of trouble, which is what he wants from her most of the time anyway. I accept it as a "precedent" which has been set and put into the minds of the audience. If you keep writing it into the script, they get tired of the trope. People can just imagine that's what she does without needing yet another instance or explanation of her doing that written into additional episodes.

    I think I know the reason for the bottle Stopper Switch !!!!!!! AS U know the bottle doesn't fly around under Magic Power, so A clear line is attached to the bottle.. using the Stopper..I bet one stopper is used Only for the Floating scenes and the other for all the other scenes. Maybe a Hole was drilled into it. Somehow the clear line is attached to the stopper.

      @outsider238  2 года назад

      Yes I'm guessing a bigger stopper was needed to attach the invisible wire. I also think the film was ran in reverse because of the way the bottle starts revolving on the table before it rises into the air.

      It’s not clear line. They had to use black line bc clear would reflect the stage lights and would have been more obvious in b&w

    These are truly interesting. Reading the comment below I have to agree with Wil. But then it becomes Eva Gabor or Barbara Eden. The Characters they created were every man's dream. To me, they exhibit what the Bible meant by "helpmeet".

    As to the uniform, this was an accurate depiction. All the services had a khaki-colored uniform at the time in addition to their ‘regular’ colored uniform. The Air Force wore their blue hat and the Army wore their green hat (I am guessing this was done to distinguish between the services as the Army & Air Force uniforms were very close to each other in design). I believe the blue intensity or brightness is a colorization mistake. Also, both Healy & Nelson are Captains (one rank below Major) at the start of the series. Another colorization mistake is that Captain Healy’s rank insignia were often colored gold when they are in fact silver. This is probably a result of the rest of the insignia and his coat buttons being gold, which is accurate.

      Very interesting! I figured it had to be accurate. I think we only ever saw them in those uniforms a couple of times early on.

      While the Air Force did have a kaki uniform it never was a dress one but rather a more casual one without a dress coat or what was called a blouse. The uniforms that have been colorized as kaki should have been blue.

      The Air Force had a Khaki "Class B" type uniform earlier on, you can see it in James Stewart's Strategic Air Command (1956). I'm not sure it was worn that late.
      The USAF tropical worsted uniform was cut a little differently than the Army version, the collar differed as did the shade of Khaki..

      Someone may have already stated it, but Healy was in the Army, hence the green uniform.I believe he was in the Engineer Corps.

      @@mac1766 He was. Bill Daily was an Army (Field Artillery in Korea) vet but was not an Army Reserve guy who asked to wear his uniform on the show as some have speculated.

    30:30 The tree is just on a rollerboard and the rope is to just pull it along on it's wheels. It's really bright because they couldn't or forgot to filter out the lights and the white rollerboard just casts it back. I think they just didn't have time to dress it properly or maybe a re-shoot, etc.

      Yeah it's because the DVDs had to stretch the picture in order to fit today's large screen TVs. So in certain scenes a lot of things look out of proportion.
