Ed Milliband should never have quit , he may not have had the charisma to many to be a leader but he had the heart and the mind to help bring real change , the country did not need a Buffon character to lead , who seems most times unable to comprehend policies or politics ,
I said it then and I still say it years later the people should have backed him ,
Bringing in David Cameron set the precedent for nothing but chaos and more instability to the country ,we now have a Tory government to lead us where ?
This is the first time in 40 years I did not vote labour and that says it all .

This should be done split-screen. It’s annoying to go back and forth between the two men (in rather overly large closeups), particularly when the host is not saying anything. Had to stop watching, but hope to continue at some point. I do like hearing from Miliband.

Yanis Varoufakis has already tried to push for the idea of employee ownership of the companies/businesses they work for. The only people that shouted down the idea (like channel 4) constantly worship at the feet of corporations/conglomerates owning everything, and for the shareholders and CEOs to take all the profit for themselves. If you allow the worker to have a stake at where they work, then they'll not only be motivated to work as hard as possible to increase the success of the business, (which would naturally lead to them getting better wages), but they'll also have a say in how the company/business is fundamentally run. Everyone wins in this employment structure, all except for the useless shareholders/CEOs that just leech off the business and syphon off the profits directly into their own bank accounts. Pointless boardroom conmen only steal money from the workers that make it, no one needs them and have never needed them.

"And oh, how sweet a thing to be
Safe on an island, not at sea!
There are no islands anymore.” . ESV 1940
Some lines from a poem I like, for anyone interested in Edna ST. Vincent Millay. 1940s
    Dear Islander, I envy you:
    I’m very fond of islands, too;
And few the pleasures I have known
    Which equaled being left alone.
    Yet matters from without intrude
    At times upon my solitude:
A forest fire, a dog run mad,
A neighbor stripped of all he had
By swindlers, or the shrieking plea
    For help, of stabbed Democracy.
(The tidal wave devours the shore:
There are no islands any more.)
This little life from here to there-
    Who lives it safely anywhere?
    Not you, my insulated friend:
    What calm composure will defend
Your rock, when tides you’ve never seen
    Assault the sands of What-has-been,
And from your island’s tallest tree,
    You watch advance What-is-to-be?
(The tidal wave devours the shore:
There are no islands any more.)
Sweet, sweet, to see the tide approach,
    Assured that it cannot encroach
    Upon the beach-peas, often wet
    With spray, never uprooted yet.
The moon said-did she not speak true?-
“The waves will not awaken you.
At my command the waves retire.
Sleep, weary mind; dream, heart’s desire.”
And yet, there was a Danish king
    So sure he governed everything
He bade the ocean not to rise.
It did. And great was his surprise.
No man, no nation, is made free
By stating it intends to be.
Jostled and elbowed is the clown
Who thinks to walk alone in town.
She was talking of Americas reluctance to get involved with world affairs in the early 1940s, I feel this rings true with England's current attitude towards the European mainland. Although a change of direction is on the horizon.

Ed Milliband: This government has made cuts to our essential services
    Rishi: Actually we've increased spending
Ed Milliband: Oh. Well what about lockdown? We need to rollout the vaccines more quickly
Rishi: Done, 95% of have received both jabs

If the Labour party what to lead the British people in parliament they should think more and harder about what the British people want. His constituency were very much pro Brexit but he treated that almost as irrelevant, he is concerned with what the world wants and that is the problem with Labour, too busy telling their voters what they should want.

  • @duckbizniz663
    @duckbizniz663 Год назад

Ed Milliband and many of the comments below want workers to take the ownership of a company from the original founders (owners) and shareholders. Most if not all successful companies were founded by owners who saw their products or services that can benefit their customers in a new or different way. They hired employees to help deliver those products or services to their customers. They had to train their workers to do those things. If you take away the ownership from their founders or managers who run a successful company and give to workers, then who in the world will work towards creating a new business? You have just confiscated a property from the people who created something successful like a thief or communist government and given it to your friends. No one in your society will invest the time and effort to transform a good idea in their head and turn it into a real business. Your society will stagnate. Maybe that is why Labour lost to the Tories.

We are facing an existential environmental crisis.
The arctic is literally on fire.
The west coast of the usa is in a mega drought.
The Amazon rainforest, the rainforest referred to as the lungs of the earth. appears to be on the brink of collapse
The ocean is increasing acidic making formation of shells by crustaceans increasingly difficult.
The arctic ocean ice loss is increasing leading to possible ice free arctic in 10 to 15 years.
The jet stream is getting increasingly chaotic threatening the world's food baskets and thus causing mass starvation.
Thwaites Glacier is on the edge of collapse and may go the same way as larson b. If/when it does it will lead to upto 4 meters of sea level rise.
This is just 1 degree of warming unfortunately when we stop burning things ( we will have to at some point) the aerosol, mainly sulphur dioxide will come out of the atmosphere causing another half a degree.
Developed world leaders point the finger at the developing world while the developing world leaders point back at the developed world. All the while the fossil fuel companies gaslight everyone.
Inequality has spiralled so high that the world's 26 richest people own as much as the poorest half of the world's population.
To such an extent that it would make the tycoons of the gilded age blush.
I have listened to talking heads on social media, as far as I can tell, honestly try to justify this by saying that these 26 must be producing this much value. Really??
26 humans have produced as much value as the other 5 billion humans all on their own some. They must get up really early in the morning.
The world's population is rapidly aging leading to increasing dependence. Unfortunately this does nothing for the climate as these missing people would have been poor and thus wouldn’t have caused much pollution.
None of the problems are beyond the wit of man to solve. I just don’t know how 6 months paid paternity leave, as lovely as that would be, will help. Maybe this is some sort of 3 dimensional chess move.
