I used to be a singer, after having half my thyroid removed, my vocal cords were scarred. I can’t sing anymore and it is devastating. Even my talking voice will go out if I talk for extended periods now. To be unable to perform your passion is…. gut wrenching. But to others dealing with it, I hope in time you’re able to find another Avenue to channel your creativity and passion.

honestly, if you love singing but you can no longer sing, please don't let your talents go to waste, learn an instrument! it will feel very rewarding to make melodies again after so long.

i damaged my vocal cords through singing and was out of commission for a while.
thankfully I've healed, but during that time, i found that same satisfaction through learning bass/guitar/piano/drums.
it is so amazing to be able to express myself with my hands like that, even when my voice couldn't, and i can do things with a guitar/piano that my voice still can't.

@@howdyfriends7950 you make a valid point!! I have my flute and my husband’s guitar at my disposal - perhaps it is time to pick one of them up! :). Thank you for sharing and the suggestion. I can’t believe I hadn’t even thought of it before.

Same. I was never "good" at singing but I loved to. I did these opera type songs when I'd clean or whatever. It started out as a joke cuz opera music was so annoying to me but I was actually good at it. Then on my last surgery, they had to remove more tumors on my vocal cords and around them and I haven't been able to since. It's heartbreaking because that really became a part of me and my own entertainment. My voice goes in and out all the time. I've always recovered after surgeries. Might have sounded different but still could handle it. This last one was too much for it. At least I can still talk tho. After my first surgery I didn't have a voice at all for almost 4 months and they didn't know if it would come back. Grateful for that at least. Maybe I should try to learn an instrument too. I've always felt like I didn't have much when it came to talents.

My daughter danced from the time she was 4 until 2014 (25) she was a popular pro football cheerleader/dancer. A fan and owner favorite for her incredible presence while dancing. We got in a very bad car accident that took it all away. It literally took her spirit and it has been a battle since then. A dancer without “the dance” is like music without an instrument. My heart goes out to all the people who are suffering through the loss of their passion.

I was always listening to celtic music or anything the brought me to this true freedom of expression. The fact she looks similar to me when I was a teen is bit weird i just had dark mousy frizzy hair. I'm older then Billie I'm nearly in my 40s. I still dance like this in my kitchen sometimes to lindsey Stirlings music Lol its my favourite past time. I miss how I used to be back in the day. I wanted to be a performer myself but I suffered in my childhood and never had the support to go further in life. Anyway keep this side of you up Billie don't loose that part of you that connects you to pure love and passion.

I never thought I would, and certainly not like I did before, but maybe that long rest and lots of working on getting my hand back, first to write, then a whole lot of little things worked. In those 13 years, I had to find out who I was without music, life can take something away for whatever reason it chooses. But never lose hope that maybe you’ll get it back. They, from what I've read, had the insight to cultivate and nurture her and her brother's talents giving them the freedom and environment to flourish. When they, (Billy and her brother) were ready they had the contacts in the music industry that made it possible for their music to get out to us in an efficient manner.

Something so unpretentious and so down to earth about Billie Eilish. Even when she’s doing an interview she’s just so natural. 🌱

I love this expressive graceful, free-form type of dancing. The kind of stuff you do in the back yard bc you know no one is watching....
