I don’t like the fuel in frame design, seems to me it would cause excessive weight shift during braking, turning, etc. from the fuel surging forward and side to side, which could change the CG(center of gravity), say you have 3 gallons that suddenly surges ANY direction, at 6 pounds per gallon, that’s 18 pounds of weight shifting! On a relatively light vehicle, 650 pounds wet, including the rider, that’s a HUGE, and largely unexpected variable. Again, my opinion/observation, but I’m also not a rocket surgeon either.

Nice review mate👍was awesome hearing you catching your buell bug😂👌 that's the thing with buell, not the fastest, not the smoothest, not the most elegant, mine twitches all over the place! but I wouldn't trade my buell for anything! A bike you have to really ride, no abs, no traction control, just a donk of an engine with as you say less than average front brakes! Love it!! I know you can get them but seems a shame they didnt release a twin rotor setup to modernize and hopfully balance out the front braking system. As you say can be a bit scary at times but that forced learning curve is what keeps me in love with it😂😂😂! Enjoying your vids man, you've just gained another sub👍

A little tip for the front brakes, lock the lever in the depressed position overnight with a zip tie and I promise that squishing lever will be as solid as a rock on track day after you release it

@@bodied93toy66 I have five Buells including a 2008 1125R. The ONLY reason the brakes faded is that the rider rode a bike that he did not FIRST sort out the brake fluid and pads before riding the track. He knows better, and wasted a whole track day experience for want of "check it before you ride it". He then has the temerity to belittle the Buell rather than man up to it being solely his fault, not Buell.
Next item is fuel in the frame complaint from a non-owner. The fuel is in the frame because it DOES work better and does NOT wildly flutter fuel to and fro. Of all the ill conceived comments on this video, your must be the most ill thought out mushy and pretentious spam to date.

@@bodied93toy66but doesn't the fuel also shift in a regular gas tank? That is mounted higher so would have a larger impact. Think about it. Also they are not the first, honda did it with the nsr500 back in the day and that bike was dominant. Also watch videos of the hammerhead racing. Its crazy fast side to side

@yammienoob. I've been tracking Buells for the greater part of a decade, and I can tell you with 100% certainty what you felt on this isn't normal on Buell standards. brake fade does happen, but not within 3 laps like this. 10-15laps on a really hot day maybe. I suspect that system isn't bled properly.

A major "magazine" tested essentially the same bike vs an 1198 Panigale (9 years ago) at a racetrack and the EBR (Buell) did not suffer the brake fade issues your bike did. I strongly suspect that your particular bike had an issue having nothing to do with the brake's basic design. You do your viewers a disservice in summarily criticizing the design as the cause of it's poor performance. Have the front brake reviewed by a tech that is familiar with this design to ferret out what's wrong and take the bike back to the track. Seems only fair.

You keep stating it’s cable throttle, you’ll find it has cables going to a throttle position sensor and it’s fly by. They do this because it gives a more natural feel and progression to the throttle. If it’s got bi directional quick shift it can’t be cable operated as the ecu has to blip it

Install a set of SBS 856ds or Vesrah race pads, will be a night and day difference in brake performance. Bleeding the brakes with good fresh fluid is required for sustained track use. Something is not setup properly, been racing and doing track days for nine years on my 2014 EBR 1190rx. bike is rock solid and stable, and totally predictable when setup properly. Never experienced any of the issues you are experiencing with mine. Better tires would be beneficial. Rear shock upgrade works wonders too.

As far as I know, Suzuki motorcycles are known to have this fading effect on braking and people usually solve this by replacing the original braking hoses with braided ones (aeroquip).
Considering that the fading came right at the beginning, it may be an issue with this specific unit (bleeding, hoses, fluid, and so on) but it would be good to know how this issue was sorted out.

In theory the brake design has massive power. Something seems off with the execution on this one. Pads, fluid? The huge rotor size has both power and cooling benefits over the usual sizes. Only oddity is the 8 pots - maybe too many and the force/pressure is too spread out or too much fluid exposed to a heatet surface. Four pot might have been better choice, with more common pad size so race pads can be installed for track days.

You’re deluding yourself if you think the brakes were fading at a fast street pace like you were riding… Okay, you don’t like the feel but you were nowhere near that bike’s potential….. I’m an RS owner, trust me, the brakes weren’t fading. It’s you getting arm pump or whatever. If fade were an issue you’d have had it all day and not just the corners you blew and needed an excuse for.

I owned a 2008 1125R and dear God was that bike a PITA...... I paid around 10k new and 3 months later, Harley liquidated then for 5k brand new. Talk about being upside down..... Stock it was a turd. Couldn't get it to idle, it would just kill over sometimes. Then a couple of years later EBR released the race ECU and that changed the tuning issues to perfect. However, it had the same brakes this one had and they were scary... The rear brake was a joke all together and shouldn't even be there.
The engine provided a lot of the braking. It was a super fun bike torque wise, but man did it feel cheap. The handlebars and stuff were just like toys.

Brakes are great!!!! Yammienoob..... ARGH!!! In your previous video of the Hammerhead 'I GOT A BUELL! Hammerhead 1190 First Ride and Review' at video time count 5:21, you downplayed the appearance of the brake caliper cooling ducts on the front right of the axel. They are there for a reason, must be kept clean inside, and checked prior to racing. If the air scoops are not maintained properly THE PADS WILL FAIL.... SOOoooo read the FLICKING manual that you said you skipped over. Also, never go out for hot laps with unknown disposition brake fluid or pads. I am sure you check the fuel you put in to make the bike go, so you should also refuel (new fluid) the reservoir and lines that make it stop. You know better. Those of us out here with race licenses, leathers, knee pucks with Buell 1125R and 1190R bikes, are wondering why you cut the corners on track best practices basics. You are a good rider and great commentator and video expert. Thanks for listening.

Twenty years ago, the XB9 came out with that giant disc and I thought that was super clever: shift brake stress away from the spokes onto the rim itself, it enables a lighter wheel and it left all the journalists impressed. I don't remember any mention of a brake fade problem.

I hope someone from Buell can talk to you and help you redo this video. This video really does this bike a disservice and a disservice to anyone who is watching the video. I won't come up with excuses for Buell, but this bike has likely been used a lot by different vloggers on track. A simple brake fluid change could be the answer. Your discrepancy with the brakes does not line up with anyone else's view of the brakes in a track setting. I would and I'm sure the other viewers would love another video of the bike knocking out some fast laps.

Im a bit curious, you say its fine as an everyday streetride but on the streets you have way more uncontrollable things happening then on a track. Cagers, other bikes, trucks, pedestrians and even bicycles for which you need a good breakingsystem. So my question is, if the breaking isnt on pair for the track, is it really that suitable for an everyday ride on the streets? A squid is gonna squid, and take gixxerbrah for ex, with the speed he is going on most bikes, wouldnt he be in more danger on the streets then on a track with this bike? (And people like him)

i ride these bikes. u have to change the fluid to a motul race. higher boiling point. these brake systems produce alot of heat and absorbs it throughout the rotor.
