PFish has a great idea: distribute a few HMs to your main mons (namely Surf, Waterfall, and Fly have some uses). But also, you can make some creative and lovable HM slaves. Just a few broad examples of how you can use a few moves on a low level HM slave and have it still be good on the team: Start with the Sturdy ability or a Focus Sash so your mon can survive a hit despite being level 5 or whatever. Alternatively, you can use the Prankster ability to make it so you can go first with certain moves. Once you can survive a hit (or go first), next add something like Stealth Rock, Spikes, or Stick Web to get setup with entry hazards, or try out Super Fang so your level 5 Snubbull can surprise your opponent with guaranteed 50% hp damage. Some other options include setting up paralyze or sleep or weather conditions with this strategy. There's a lot of creative ways to make HM slaves feel like part of the team instead of the frustrating burden that they were designed as.
I have a rule about not having the same two types on my team. For example my team for my Pokémon Sun playthrough was: Primarina Salazzle Lycanroc (Midday form) Kommo-o Vikavolt and Toucannon.
Mysterie in johto and kalos i was going with fire but in HGSS Meganium was my favorite because its a dinosaur and I loved fenniken but its final evolution was UGLY.
I have to explain about something that was amazing. OK here's how it went. I was going check Poke Pealgo just to see the treasures I got and of course there were wild pokemon there. The two pokemon were Wingull and Spearow. I went to the Wingull first and you know, the usual stuff the guy says and then I went to the Spearow... It was a shiny. I was amazed a shiny pokemon appeared in Poke Pealgo and I wasn't even shiny hunting! I got all excited that I can get another shiny pokemon! Anyways, a day later I got the shiny and evolved it to a Fearow. I then used Fearow for the battle tree just becuase it was a shiny. Well, there was my story. I love learning about other people's different teams and seeing how different our teams are. Totodile is my absolute favorite Pokémon and I've played through HG/SS more times that I can remember but I've only ever played through Hoenn twice.

When I played Pokémon Moon, I wanted a varied team and ended up with three Alolan forms. This was my team: Incineroar Alolan Raichu Pelipper Mimikyu Alolan Dugtrio And Alolan Exeggcutor 12 TYPE BABY
I had Dustox in Omega Ruby and my Azumarill is my HM slave in that game. I also had Roserade in my Pokemon X. Another thing we have in common, we both give our teams personalities, mine with personalities were in Ultra Sun. Also in Pokemon X, I ALSO started Chesnaught. One more thing, Decidueye w a s my starter in Moon, and my Midnight Lycanroc in Sun and Dusk Lycanroc in Ultra Sun were great for my team. Those are all the things I spotted that we had in common.

Wow dude! Your Sinnoh team is almost identical to mine the first time I played through it completely! When I first picked up Diamond I didn't finish it cuz it belonged to a friend, but i did use Luxray. In my complete journey through Sinnoh I had Torterra, Rapidash, Floatzel, and Staraptor! Pachirisu was my electric Type and then I forget my last member; it's been a while. Although I did use Dialga for a time.

I really wanted a Salazzle in my Moon playthrough but grew too impatient. So, I caught the next Salandit I saw, it was a male that I named Newt and I adore him. Such a strong boy!
I always try to have one Flying-Type and one Electric-Type on my team. I always choose the Water-Type Starter, so transportation is assured. I also have one full HM Pokemon. The other two slots are taken by strong Pokemon that fit my personal tastes. When I go into the elite four and Champion, I swap in a new type, generally a Dragon or Psychic.
Here is mine TrueGreen7. Soulsilver: (never completed but can still remember team. Haven’t played in many years.) A Quilava, Togepi, Weedle, Wooper, Magikarp, and Geodude. (The farthest I got to was Morty. He beat most of Pokémon but couldn’t defeat my lv. 1 Togepi with his Gengar who kept putting me to sleep. Oh, and most of my Pokémon were chosen by my friend. My most recent play through on ultra moon is : feraligatr , archeops, dragonite , houndoom , metagross , and a beautiful shiny magnezone 💕 but my funnest play through ever was platinum : garchomp , starraptor , octillery ,typhlosion , steelix and my first ever skiny pokemon lucario I refuse to use legendaries on my team and I've beaten every single Pokemon game except green and gold

absolute zero Some people (Myself included) just think using a legendary in an in-game team is either dumb or just unfair. I mean, to a lot of us, having the *GOD OF CREATION HIMSELF* named Fluffy be the HM slave of a 10 year old is f#cking rediculous. And when it comes to battling it's fine in competitive but game A.I. isn't going to have an answer for a Primal Kyogre effortlessly stomping their teams into the ground. And don't get me started on Pokemon "OCs" with legendaries on their teams. But hey, just because we don't like using legendaries doesn't mean you shouldn't. Do whatever you want, it's your game. Who's gonna stop you? Some whiny commenter who's only source of power and influence over you is a few words on a screen? You do you and we'll do ourselves.
Theoretically if Pokemon were real and someone sees that you've captured Groudon or something that just shows how good you are. Unless you used a masterball or something in which case that's kind of cheap BUT REGARDLESS being able to face a legendary and attempt its capture is still a great accomplish.
I wouldn't use a legendary during my journey just for the sole reason that it makes the game way too easy. It's already easy enough so adding an almighty legendary Pokemon kind of kills the little challenge in playing these games. Although I won't lie, it is very satisfying in using your hard earned level 70 Mewtwo on a poor defenseless level 2 Pidgey.
Here are my teams. X: Delphox, Raichu, Lucario, Espeon, Greninja and Xerneas. Alpha Sapphire: Blaziken, Delcatty, Latias, Raichu, Absol and Kyogre. Moon: Incineroar, Alolan Raichu, Wishiwashi, Midnight Lycanroc, Mimikkyu and Pelipper/Lunala. Ultra Sun: Shiny Incineroar, Ultra Necrozma, Lunala, Shiny Haxorus, Cobalion and Kyogre. Pearl: Empoleon, Staraptor, Luxray, Rapidash, Bronzong and Palkia. To this day, I have all of these Pokémon in Ultra Sun, and I feel like my Moon team is my personal favorite.
Watching this video made me think about my own Pokemon teams and I came to the realization that the only teams I still remember are my current teams in every game, because I can look them up, and my teams before the current one for Moon, AS and White. How do people remember these??

I had Dustox in Omega Ruby and my Azumarill is my HM slave in that game. I also had Roserade in my Pokemon X. Another thing we have in common, we both give our teams personalities, mine with personalities were in Ultra Sun. Also in Pokemon X, I ALSO started Chesnaught. One more thing, Decidueye w a s my starter in Moon, and my Midnight Lycanroc in Sun and Dusk Lycanroc in Ultra Sun were great for my team. Those are all the things I spotted that we had in common.

I'm not sure why I began to do that, sometimes it's hard to get a good grass type, so I just get the starter, but I now love em all! Wow dude! Your Sinnoh team is almost identical to mine the first time I played through it completely! When I first picked up Diamond I didn't finish it cuz it belonged to a friend, but i did use Luxray. In my complete journey through Sinnoh I had Torterra, Rapidash, Floatzel, and Staraptor! Pachirisu was my electric Type and then I forget my last member; it's been a while. Although I did use Dialga for a time.

I really wanted a Salazzle in my Moon playthrough but grew too impatient. So, I caught the next Salandit I saw, it was a male that I named Newt and I adore him. Such a strong boy!
I always try to have one Flying-Type and one Electric-Type on my team. I always choose the Water-Type Starter, so transportation is assured. I also have one full HM Pokemon. The other two slots are taken by strong Pokemon that fit my personal tastes. When I go into the elite four and Champion, I swap in a new type, generally a Dragon or Psychic.

Soulsilver: (never completed but can still remember team. Haven’t played in many years.) A Quilava, Togepi, Weedle, Wooper, Magikarp, and Geodude. (The farthest I got to was Morty. My most recent play through on ultra moon is : feraligatr , archeops, dragonite , houndoom , metagross , and a beautiful shiny magnezone 💕 but my funnest play through ever was platinum : garchomp , starraptor , octillery ,typhlosion , steelix and my first ever skiny pokemon lucario I refuse to use legendaries on my team and I've beaten every single Pokemon game except green and gold

absolute zero Some people (Myself included) just think using a legendary in an in-game team is either dumb or just unfair. I mean, to a lot of us, having the *GOD OF CREATION HIMSELF* named Fluffy be the HM slave of a 10 year old is f#cking rediculous. And when it comes to battling it's fine in competitive but game A.I. isn't going to have an answer for a Primal Kyogre effortlessly stomping their teams into the ground. And don't get me started on Pokemon "OCs" with legendaries on their teams. But hey, just because we don't like using legendaries doesn't mean you shouldn't. Do whatever you want, it's your game. Who's gonna stop you? Some whiny commenter who's only source of power and influence over you is a few words on a screen? You do you and we'll do ourselves.
Theoretically if Pokemon were real and someone sees that you've captured Groudon or something that just shows how good you are.
Unless you used a masterball or something in which case that's kind of cheap
BUT REGARDLESS being able to face a legendary and attempt its capture is still a great accomplish.
I wouldn't use a legendary during my journey just for the sole reason that it makes the game way too easy. It's already easy enough so adding an almighty legendary Pokemon kind of kills the little challenge in playing these games.
Although I won't lie, it is very satisfying in using your hard earned level 70 Mewtwo on a poor defenseless level 2 Pidgey.
Irrelevant Oaf I wouldn't have completed Pokémon platinum version without giratina.

Watching this video made me think about my own Pokemon teams and I came to the realization that the only teams I still remember are my current teams in every game, because I can look them up, and my teams before the current one for Moon, AS and White. How do people remember these??
