If you want a preview of how Allen, Payne and Newton could be used by Quinn, take a look at those Seattle defenses that were going to Super Bowls in 2013-14. Quinn has added a lot more to his repertoire since the Cover-3 days, but it could be instructive to take a look at the front-7 philosophy they employed back then. The base d-line featured three bigs and one long, bendy DE. Red Bryant (6'5", 320lbs) and Michael Bennett (6'4", 275lbs) were the LDEs on those teams. Chris Clemmons (6'3" 255) and Cliff Avril (6'3", 260lbs) were the starting DEs on the other side. Bruce Irvin (6'3", 250lbs) was drafted as a DE, but he played the Sam LB in base and slid down to DE on obvious passing downs. Quinn had different types of personnel in Atlanta and Dallas, but what he seems to have utilized at every stop is a great hybrid LB/DE who puts his hand on the ground on passing downs (Irvin in Seattle, Vic Beasley in Atlanta, and Micah Parsons in Dallas. I'm not predicting it, but I wouldn't be shocked if Allen, Payne, and Newton all trot out on the field at the same time for the first snap in September, with either Frankie Luvu or Jamin Davis (perhaps both???) in that hybrid role.

I think people are lower on Coleman than they should be. Coleman has played more LT than guard. His numbers at LT ranked him 79, while his guard rankings were 59 (or thereabout). In over 1,000 snaps at LT, Coleman gave up 54 pressures and 4 sacks. My question is this: Considering those excellent numbers at LT, why was he moved to G, and was the LT who replaced him definitively better?

Sometimes being the best lineman ate forced out of position for need. Being the best athlete may mean we need you to pull for the run game to work, which he does well. Also, he's big and anchors well, so he has great traits for a guard as well. The only question is speed defenders and possibly long arm rushers who can maintain leverage on their pass rush.

The pro game is different obviously and if his game translates to LT better than Guard in Kingbury’s offense, then make the move. I’m not worried about what people think outside of the building. Put the young man in the best position for the team. If he doesn’t workout, sign another FA Tackle after the cut down period before the season starts.

@@johnson-jr4001 I don't think there is a single FA LT worth signing. All that are left are dudes with serious age, serious injury issues, or both.

Him playing guard in college is not a big deal because he was so athletic and they probably just had to switch things up…like we did when Trent was here and played gaurd and we put Ty Insecki at LT tackle…but now Trent is back at LT the rest of his career….

TCU was playing musical chairs on the O-line this past season due to lineup experiments and injuries. After grading out high at LT during the 2022 season, which included a championship game appearance for TCU, Coleman was inexplicably moved to left guard, with RT Andrew Coker swapping sides and Mike Nichols sliding in on the right side. That lineup lasted 4 games when Coleman got hurt and sat out a game. When he returned, Coleman was re-inserted at LT, where he started the final 7 games, and Coker moved back to RT. So I guess the answer is that, no, Coker was not better than Coleman, who is a couple of inches shorter than Coker, but has longer arms and is a better athlete. Unfortunately, Coleman's injury kind of lingered and his performance was not as good as in 2022. I think a lot of folks just look at his thick, wide build and just automatically say, "look, he's a guard." But I think his build is actually a bonus at tackle, as long as you have the arm length and feet to get the job done. Why wouldn't you want a tackle with a lower center of gravity who can get leverage as a run blocker and can anchor against bull rushes? The tall, angular build is fashionable at tackle these days, but it's functionally more limited. Great for protecting the edge (obviously the highest priority), but that higher center of gravity limits leverage and change of direction. I'm really intrigued to see if Coleman can develop.

This defence is going to rock it this year with the defensive front and LBs able to blitz behind them

Jayden was always there pick. Caleb might in long run be better QB but Adam knew the fan base needs to be excited this season because we need a new stadium
Running QBs with an arm too win or compete right away
Calab needs at least two full seasons to put up the numbers Jayden will this year

To not announce who they choice early is to their advantage to change their mind without blowback. Sending their standards on what to expect from now on on their standards on info leakage coming out of the Commanders facility.

I hope they can do something with Christian Holmes cause hes the only corner big enough to cover Aj Brown, Ceedee Lamb, and Malik Nabers. Whos going to cover Devonte Smith? Lol and the Eagles have 3 CB1's now. One of them is a star safety as well haha. Kliff isnt going anywhere. He said himself that he prefers only being responsible for the offense and not the whole team

I mean, what are they saying about Jordan Morgan and the other "OTs" with short arms or lack of experience playing OT?
