Thanks for posting this. This series made quite an impression on me when it was released in the '80s & it's nice to be reacquainted with it. So sad to read of Haydn Gwynne's death. She was so perfect in this part as was the late Warren Clarke.
After 35 years I appreciate this more than ever. An absolute tour de force, two-handed acting triumph. How talented Haydn Gwynne and Warren Clarke were. Amazing to see quality like this on TV. I worked extensively with various Birmingham metal bashers and Warren Clarke's portrayal is absolutely note perfect.
Hi everyone - thanks for your patience. I have uploaded episode 2 and cut the audio at the end that was causing it to be copyright blocked. Please see my channel for the link.
This outstanding, deeply moving yet gently comic four part series is unmissable in its brilliance and insight. The acting by Warren Clarke, Hayden Gwynne and all the cast is absolutely first class. I also particularly enjoyed the scenes with slightly befuddled academic Professor Philllip Swallow, played wonderfully by Christopher Godwin.
Thanks for uploading. Nice Work is a fine novel and this series is as faithful an adaptation as is (sorry about the 'is as' 'as is' stuff, no wonder my writing ambitions were never realised!) possible to achieve within the constraints of a 4 hour timeframe.
Thank you for uploading this, what a great programme (based on an even better novel). I wonder, does anyone have access to the TV version of Small World? I believe it was made by Granada in the 1980s but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!
@@YourLocalGP There's some discussion about a possible crowd funding campaign here: thiswayupzine.blogspot.com/2011/08/forgotten-tv-small-world.html?sc=1662647623282#c131379783751575630 Not clear though whether transferring it from the master tapes would make subsequent copies more affordable.
There is, apparently, some music in episode 2 which triggers the content Blocker in RUclips. Every time I upload it, it gets immediately blocked. When I have time I will try to find the audio part and remove it.
...Well!... It seems that in certain regions of the world... we are not allowed to watch certain scenes... I wonder who decided that... We could at least have been allowed to watch the approved scenes of Episode 2... for a total of 45 minutes... of an excellent series...

I'm re-reading the book at the moment and it's Warren Clarke and Haydn Gwynne I have in my mind's eye - from 32 years ago!
filmed in Birmingham, produced at Pebble Mill, they were fantastic studios, now gone and the new dental hospital was built on the site now

R.I.P. Haydn Gwynne

The writers of Drop the Dead Donkey saw Hayden Gwynne in this and thought of her for the show.
Thank you for posting this - one of my favourite novels.
One of my favourites too.
Had this book in school in german. Hated books from the start. Loved it keeping it on.

Brilliant Book and Brilliant TV
i was a extra in this series, great memories.
I’m glad I read the book before watching this. I’d be bewildered otherwise.
But, as it is, I quite like it.
I have a crush on young Haydn Gwynne here ...
Impossible not to …..
Any idea where i can find the BBC series Small World, based on another of David Lodge's books of the same title??
Cosmic expansion going into reverse - cosmology has changed a bit since those days

I have also looked and looked, to no avail. If you find it, please let us know!

I think you could have started recording this Before the sharp beeping noise, but thanks 😊
Very disappointing that episode 2 is not available - I won't bother to watch the rest.
Thanks - good work.Do you have Episode 2?
Now available. Sorry for the delay, there was copyright audio that had to be removed. Episode 2 on my channel.
Hi great to see it again, but have you got episode 2 uploaded? Thanks

Episode 2 is not available due to music copyright and has absolutely nothing to do with drama scenes.
@@paullloyd4813 good info. I wonder if I could mute those passages and re upload
@@paullloyd4813 hi, I have now uploaded episode 2, after cutting the music
I think it's very accurate to the book. And I like this.
David Lodge wrote the script. Here and there I detect differences but not very many.
Where is Episode 2?
