Markos Hughes Well, it IS inspired/based on the War of the Roses... Though regardless of that if you think about it, every fandom's 'verse backstory IS the history for thst 'verse. ;)
7:00 "Never forget who you are, the rest of the world will not. Where it like armor, and it will never be used to hurt you." Tyrion has all of the good lines.
Noel Aranda in the books there are hints as to who his mother is. i can't remember exactly who it was or what the story was but i remember it being a very plausible idea
***** Howland Reed is the only living person who knows. A lot of people believe he's the High Sparrow at Kings Landing. Also Bran is seeing visions through time while he learns greenseer magic. I think that's how Jon's parents will be revealed.
I love Ramsey Snow lol. Quickly becoming my favorite on the show, can't wait to see him in season 5 and hopefully onward. I know he will meet a tragic end. Remember, a naked man has few secrets, a flayed man has none.
Never forget who you are. The world won't. Be proud of who you are and wear it like armor. It can never be used to hurt you. Now THAT speaks to me, wow.
Just a thought HBO... To enhance the dramatic feel of Jons character in an episode where significant events happen to him, perhaps you could refer back to the Tyrion and Jon scene in the first episode. Nothing major but I think it would give a cool, reminiscing moment for viewers as they could also empathise with Jon and feel the reminiscing of that moment 5 years ago and also give a moment of intensity
Look at that bastard lying at 6:02. "In both cases a noble father with a bastard son".... Who's gonna believe that? We all know Ned isn't Jon's real father or better said, we wish he wasn't. Only time will tell...
It's really inaccurate to say that 'in the Middle Ages people were more religious and despised bastards'. The treatment of bastards varied from place to place and era to era. Plenty of medieval lords acknowledged their bastards and treated them as additional manpower, honoured members of the household and sometimes very close companions to their legitimate sons. Up to 1100 we even have examples of bastards chosen as heirs in the lack of legitimate ones. Obviously it sometimes mattered very much on the status of the mother - English and French kings routinely recognised and gave titles to the bastards they conceived with ladies, but ignored the ones from commoners.
So if bastards have no inheritance rights then why the need to kill Roberts bastards and why are people commenting that Gendry is the rightful heir to the throne?
I think come Season 6, Ramsay will kill both Roose and Walda and become Lord of Winterfell (if Roose disinherits him for letting Sansa escape), and then Jon will kill Ramsay in the Battle of the Six Armies/Battle of the Bastards. Just a theory. That's what I'd like to see.
Anyone else think Gendry may not be a bastard, but actually the son of Rob and Cersie? I only thought 'maybe' because of his age, and the way he described his early (and only) memories of his mother; a golden haired woman who sang to him.
nah Cercei despised Robert too much to have his children. She always took care of him not impregnating her, and admitted that she aborted the only child she was going to have with him also in the book its said Gendry's mother was a worker at an alehouse who died when he was still a child
I mean, Gendry may have been the boy she had she thought died as a child. Maybe because they wouldn't let her see the body. I don't know, it's just an out of the box theory...
This seems to be quite a misunderstanding of how actual bastards were treated in the Medieval and Renaissance Ages. Thanks to the somewhat loveless nature of arranged marriages, (which the Church opposed, but the nobles and royalty still did anyways) many of these fine folks committed adultery with prostitutes and paramours from both lower and upper classes, and they also bore children. And the problem was, they had these bastards with people whom they genuinely loved, as opposed to people whom they were forced to marry. They favored these children a lot, so to force these folks to give the legitimate children an edge, the law forbade these royals from passing their titles to their bastards and forced them to pass it only to legitimate children or family members. They even forbade bastards from becoming Popes, because many Popes who were meant to be celibate (even during the time when the Latin Church allowed marriage amongst priests) still had kids and mistresses, and they forbade the passing down of the title of Pope to any papal bastards to prevent the Papacy from becoming a hereditary monarchy.
Yeah it's also interesting to think about how William the Conqueror was also a bastard and all of the insanely significant things he did. Many people think he didn't feel upset about being a bastard at all which would be like the complete opposite of Jon and Ramsey. I mean these books are all fake so George R.R. Martin can do whatever he wants but it is really fun to compare it to what actually happened. Especially to the Wars of the Roses.
Well in his defense Martin says in the beginning that the medieval periods believed in religion and superstition more so that kind of implies that he wanted to make it accurate but there are fucking dragons so if you're looking for inaccuracies that should probably be your main concern. Ahahahaha.
Da Honey Badger GRRM openly tries to relate the story to Renaissance and Medieval history, genius. He tried to connect it to the history of the real world.
MegannnM7 The Medievals and Renaissance folk were casual about their religion. They took the parts they liked and pretended the parts they didn't like to be nonexistent. Like how corrupt statesmen still saw themselves as servants of God while killing their rivals and/or stealing from them.
Cersi has the nerve to look down on bastards when she's the biggest lie in westeorn passing her bastard kids off as heirs to the throne. Lol Gosh I totally hate Ramsey.
Vimanyu Devgan Since Cersei and Jamie aren't married Joffrey is technically a bastard. Any child being born to unwed parents is a bastard, that is the definition of the word.
I love how George is explaining it like its a history lesson that was long ago known, and not something that was essentially made up.
***** He needs to do whatever the hell he pleases to do. You like his stuff, you buy. You don't, you just don't.
Markos Hughes Well, it IS inspired/based on the War of the Roses... Though regardless of that if you think about it, every fandom's 'verse backstory IS the history for thst 'verse. ;)
PaddySnuffles
That's simplifying it. Only the Lannister/Stark quarrel is based on that.
"Bastards are born of passion. We don't despise them in Dorne."
"No, how tolerant of you."
Says the mother of three bastards.
EvanSol919 It was an ironic comment, pointed towards Tywin from what it seems
She's a bad, badddd word.
Her three children weren't bastards technically speaking, both through title and through blood they are highborn
AIRburst95 Well they were born out of wedlock, so they sort of are.
Matt, King of the North Try going around saying that literally anywhere in Westeros and see where it gets you...
Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like an armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.
I can't stand the wailing of women.
King Joffrey dead men tell no tales................oh wait, you were just a boy, my bad ;P
Hodor
Actually used this for my senior quote
That's why I love Tyrion so much. He's just the best, wittiest, and in some ways, wisest character of ASoIaF.
Love the story with Roose Bolton's wife. Offered whichever wife's weight in silver - chooses the fattest one
I know right
#truelove
+Rakven Because at least Roose is honest about it
That moment when you realize he made this all up.
Yeah it's really amazing when you think about all he has created.
lol...this is fiction?
Mbuna Marcus - Aquariums, Cichlids and More you are joking right.......if you are not then yes its a beautiful culture filled piece of fiction
Vimanyu Devgan Of course he is -_-
you stole this comment from me.

"Never forget who you are, the rest of the world will not. Where it like armor, and it will never be used to hurt you."
Tyrion has all of the good lines.
Wear it like armor and it can never be used to hurt you
Oh god! I think I really like Ramsey Snow... or at least the actor...
Have you ever seen a TV show called Misfits? He's a character in it, couldn't be more different than Ramsay. He's a very good actor.
Thank you! I will check it out.
Misfits is a fantastic TV show. First two series are really good
*****
First two series are great. Gets progressively worse after that, unfortunately.
I'm pretty sure Misfits is on Netflix as well - at least the UK one x
"Wear it like armor" words every bastard takes to heart.
I hav never read a single book but I am hardcore fan of this TV series. Hats off to the minds who has written the story and executed it.
Being a bastard of Ned Stark would be an honor of mine!
***** That's just a theory dude! Don't bring spoilers and stupid theories here! Nothing is canon until Martin approves it!
Ritabrata Majumder It is a theory....but a stupid one???? No. Plenty of hints and without a doubt the most backed up theory going
Did you bastards enjoy watching me die?
Joffrey Your grace
*bends knee
Ritabrata Majumder I don't think he is neds son, i think he is his sisters son
Can we please get more Mixtapes?
said no one ever
more fire mixtape pls
dont miss the first season commentaries
pmt we need more snoop!!!
Liberationsucks You just want to watch the world burn.
Can't wait until we actually find out who Jon's real parents are. Just to see his reaction and where the story goes from there.
Noel Aranda in the books there are hints as to who his mother is. i can't remember exactly who it was or what the story was but i remember it being a very plausible idea
treeperble R + L = J
***** Really true! The only two people who knew Jon's parents are pretty much dead and take the secret to their graves. :/
***** Howland Reed is the only living person who knows. A lot of people believe he's the High Sparrow at Kings Landing. Also Bran is seeing visions through time while he learns greenseer magic. I think that's how Jon's parents will be revealed.
Daeron Targaryen That certainly completes the loop. Making him a real Targareyan and a genuine heir to the iron throne.
Jon is not a bastard! He has ice and fire in his blood.
The Stark forces are distracted. Now is the time to strike.
He is a bastard no matter what.
Don't speak too soon about Jon being a bastard. There's always the Tower of Joy to keep in mind if you've read the books
And? Rhaegar and Lyanna weren't married, so he would be a bastard regardless (unless they married in private, which is kind of a small chance)
Minha Choi And even if they married, the Seven Kingdoms would have to recognize the marriage, which has a even smaller chance.
i LOVE how they including gendry ☺️
I love Ramsey Snow lol. Quickly becoming my favorite on the show, can't wait to see him in season 5 and hopefully onward. I know he will meet a tragic end.
Remember, a naked man has few secrets, a flayed man has none.
my name is waters...Damn George what Did my family do to you?
Oh, hello bastard.
"You are a Stark"
Damn right and something more at that :)
Am i the only one who thinks that ramsey is an awesome character ?
nope, i love him.
The day I see some compassion in him, I'll like him, lol.
Dog, I command you to go back up there and fight.
He's awesome in the way that he's fun to watch. I hate the character yet I love it every time he shows up on screen
I like him
I seriously miss those great lines in the earlier seasons... but I can't complain, GOT is still epic!
We need a mixtape called "Bastards of Westeros!"
that last frase is one of my favorites
Awesome vid - gee, haven't the characters grown up from season 1 til now
Best thing about Ramsey Snow is he can turn invisible.
And see the future.
Lord Bolton True Warden Of The North the mad parkour skills are a bonus too.
Yeah not to mention he can travel back in time so that's a double bonus for the bastard of Bolton.
OBERYN I MISS YOU
Never forget who you are. The world won't. Be proud of who you are and wear it like armor. It can never be used to hurt you.
Now THAT speaks to me, wow.
pretty sure the proud part was left out, but yeah.s
Pretty sure I didn't ask whether that part was included or not. I just typed what I remembered from watching the video ONCE.
I didnt need you to ask? And also Good for you? Most of us only watched that video once.
Then why complain if my quote was or was not accurate? I'm not selling it, I'm not trying to pass it off as my own quote.
He's just saying, no need to be rude.
Game of thrones is like another world.
The surname STORM is kinda awesome to have
I love Iwan Rheon as Simon of Misfits and Ramsay Snow in Asoiaf. Most sympathetic psycho ever!
Bastards are always the most interesting characters.
So much talk about Gendry....coincidence? ;)

but what if L+R=J?
I hate the way people say bad things about kids who are bastards because I'm a bastard and proud of it
Is Gendry for sure going to be in this season?
where can i see GOT for free online in hd quality?....
Bastards killed Kenny!

Does this mean Joffrey is not Joffrey baratheon but Joffrey waters?
Except that Jon Snow ISNT Ned's son and isn't a bastard
Gendry Waters does that mean jofferey is a waters

Wait what. A video about the bastards of Westeros without mentioning Joffrey?
Joffrey was not bastard ...but was born of incest between Jaime and Cercie
Vimanyu Devgan Since Cersei and Jamie aren't married Joffrey is technically a bastard. Any child being born to unwed parents is a bastard, that is the definition of the word.
That would be a spoiler.
all dwarfs are bastards in their father's eyes....wear it like armour....
i am going to predict that Ramsay is going to end Roose
Except of course John Snow isn't a bastard at all .....
***** If he was a bastard then it wouldn't have the impact that it otherwise would.
Where the hell is uncle Benjen?
the word bastard feels meaningless after that video
Any child born out of wedlock...well looks like most of the world are bastards lol Good job Jon Snow
ahhh man, this i so much better than that shitty mixtape stuff
jaspreet singh watch this one
I am gay.
