    i may have raced pro maybe like seven times total in the mid eighties and as i was walking though the pits
    i see this guy giving goggles to some of the riders so i walked over to him to see if i could get a pair and he says to me your from Pennsylvania and wears glasses and he goes in a box and hands me like i dont know how many pairs to many and tear offs , fog spray , stickers that i still have to this day and ill never forget that moment and then i see him like maybe a week or two later at the next race and he calls me over to his van we talked for few minutes and loads me up again and says to me dont quote me on this but it was like good luck and be safe he was just so kind and generous and cared for my safety a true gentleman , historian and legend God blessed this man

    I live less that 2 miles from where Bevo and John Savitski learned to ride around Atlas, Pa. Everyone rode dirt bikes in the coal lands surrounding the area. Bevo and his wife Helen make everyone feel like family. John Savitski was one hell of of a rider in his day and now owns a very successful excavation and trucking business still called Stadium Dirt Designs. He is one of the hardest working men I know besides my father who also worked in the coal business. Thanks Ping for a great interview!

    "Hey, where's Bevo?" What a great answer! I've been paying attention to motocross since the 1970's. His name seems to have been around for as long for as I can remember. What a legend.

    I’ve ridden inside a cooler down gravity cavity while full beers are being thrown from one side of the track to the other. Cooler races were hilarious

    I was 12 years old and I had a Honda XR80, my first bike. We lived in Sacramento so Hangtown was my local track. Me and my Dad went to Hangtown one Sunday and there was virtually nobody there this particular day…, but Donny Cantaloupe was there practicing and guess who was there with him??? Bevo.. ❤️
    They were both super nice and had no problem talking and letting us hang with them for the afternoon.
    Thank you DC and Bevo for a GREAT Memory ❤️

    Great interview. I raced many of the same events Bevo and John were at. Sleeping in a hot van (no air) was my life on the road also. It was good punishment to get ready for brutal heat during the 40 plus 2.

    My friends and I rode our bicycles down to the Carlsbad shopping mall where Roger DeCoster's with his works bikes were on display and he was signing autgraphs and answering questions.
    We snuck into the 72 Trans AMA at Carlsbad raceway, I got on the start line and took a pictue of Roger DeCoster next to Ake Jonson on his Maico. I still have that picture.

    Legend. When I go to the races, I'm not so enamored by the racers as I am the legends who are there. Was at the Denver SX, and between the races I pretty much just stood at the Pro Circuit tent watching Mitch Payton. Didn't see Bevo. Had I, I most certainly would've stalked him for a bit....lol.....
    Listened to the whole show, and when they were talking about the fall from dominance of the US at MXDN, Bevo mentioned that the rules changed. I forget exactly how he said it changed, but he's smart enough to point out that the U.S. has the advantage of having a much larger rider pool to pick from, and the rule change narrowed that advantage around the time the U.S. started losing the MXDN. Other than his comment, many say it's because of Supercross, but the U.S. had SX long before the fall from dominance at MXDN. Seemed to me the rule change coincided with the shift in power.
    Anyone here remember that rule change and what year it happened? I'm here listening to the interview again (well worth it), but thought I'd ask.

    • @johntomasik1555
      @johntomasik1555 2 года назад

      Do you mean World SX, not World Motocross? If so, I think it'll even affect the Nationals. I bet quite a few guys who run typically outside the top 6-7 will see it as an opportunity to grab a title somewhere that's at a noteworthy series. I suspect this'll be yet another means of diluting the U.S. MX series, unfortunately. We see more riders going SX only now than I remember.
