  • This is a diary of my motorcycle trip from the UK via Belgium, France & Germany to the Swiss, Italian & Austrian Alps between 15th & 28th June 2019.
    This is Episode Two covering days 8 - 14 of my trip from Switzerland back to the UK via Austria & France.
    If you have one, it looks great on a Smart TV, as it’s filmed in HD.
    The main focus was to ride as many Passes as possible. This episode covers many of the smaller Passes, plus, the awesome Fluela, the traffic free Albula, the roller coaster of the Julier, the reservoirs of the Lucomagno, the fantastic Klausenpass (so good, we rode it the other direction on the next day too!), the Furkha is one of the best, leading to the wiggly Grimsel, and finally the quiet Silvretta with amazing views.
    Additionally, there are short feedback interviews with the organisers and some of the riders on this trip.
    If you are interested in motorcycle meet ups, self-guided yet organised UK and European touring, then visit the club I travelled with, the www.pemc.co.uk website offers more information and membership details.

    I did the Alps with buddies via Edelweiss Aug 2018 for 9 days. We began/ended in Munich and went west then south through the Black Forest into France for a couple of days. Then Back to Germany, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria and back to Germany. We loved Austria so much that we went back for a very long day trip for the last day. Amazing mountain roads.
    We did the Sierras a few months ago and then have a trip planned through the Pyrenees in June.

      Sorry for delay in replying to your comment 'bernhtp' but we all have more time on our hands at the moment, unfortunately. Your Alps trip sounded good too. I hope your Pyrenees trip in June still happens, I think it's an awesome area...nearly as good as the flowing roads in the Picos area of Northern Spain. My own Sept trip for 16 of us, to 'Pyrenees, Portugal & Picos' looks pretty much in doubt, even though ferries are all booked and part paid for, as I think hotels will be in doubt...we'll all have to wait and see. Take care, Paul.

    Hello Paul!
    Thank you for your great movie!
    I really enjoyed!
    I have a question to you.
    We plan to make a trip to the Alps starting from Slovenia and finish as well there in September this year.
    I wonder what the weather we can expect in the passes ?
    Do you think snow is possible over there if we make a trip between September 14-19?
    The other option to make a trip by end of July there.
    By your opinion what the best time to go there?
    Thank you again!
    Have a safe ride this season!
    Roman

    • @YarroMoto
      @YarroMoto  2 года назад

      Hi Roman, great to hear from you in Slovenia, I have loved my two trips to the Lake Bohinj area. Now, September should obviously be milder and I think that all the Passes would be open at that time but there are loads of online 'Alps Passes' websites to take a look at before and during your trip.
      I thought June was too hot really but I wasn't the organiser and chose to join the tour at this time of year.
      Have a great trip.

    i want to ask how did you attach the second camera to the bike ? I'm asking the one on the blue pole, not the one on helmet. I watched that part of the video (13:46) maybe 10 times but it isn't that clear. I just loved the angle of the camera so i want to apply the same for my shoots.

    • @YarroMoto
      @YarroMoto  3 года назад

      Hi Ugur, you'll probably get a better idea of how I attached it, by watching No 3 Mount in my 'Top 5 GoPro Mounts' vid. These days, it's probably easier to just buy a 360 camera on a stick, which should provide the shot you seek...I just wanted to avoid the further cost of a 360 cam and decided to adapt this idea. A UK bike club that I joined many years ago for organised, but not guided tours in Europe. Check out the club info and let me know if you have any Q’s…loads of trips still to be opened for booking. @YarroMoto  3 года назад +1

      Hi again TwoFourCharlie. I use 1080p, because that is the max replay quality on YT (do not understand why so many film in 4k and alike). Your Q is quite timely though, as I'm thinking of dropping my usual FPS from 60 to 30 on my next video. When I started, 60fps was the recommendation I was mostly seeing, however, more and more 'GP Settings' vids seem to say that the eye doesn't really notice the lower frame rate of 30fps, plus I would halve the storage required. Using 3 x cams for selective shots during a day, still creates huge amounts of data and takes ages to 'save' each evening. I'll test 30fps once we can all get out there again and see what it looks like. Let me know what you prefer to use...I'm guessing you use 30fps from the little bit of motion blur I can see on your Scottish trip? Cheers, Paul.

    • @TwoFourCharlie007
      @TwoFourCharlie007 3 года назад +1

      @@YarroMoto thanks Paul, I really don’t have a clue as to what frame rates I should be using, when I shoot it and replay it on iPad it seems fine, very clear, but then when I use the LumaFusion editing app and transfer it to you tube it just loses its sharpness,I might try 60pfs myself then, think mine is 24/25fps...maybe that’s where I’m going wrong, thanks for the advice

      Hi Stephen, thank you for that interesting Q🤔....other than a couple of the hotels (I'd substitute the Hotel Bellinzona Sud in the service station location, for something more town centre with bars/restaurants, or one in a rural location, whatever you prefer; plus the Best Western in Soissons is pretty corporate!). You must stay at the Hotel Freidheim in Weggis with a lake view room, eating out on the terrace in the evening is fantastic. If you're with your wife pillion, I'd recommend taking the rest days within the schedule, rather than riding every day like myself. Be prepared for Swiss costs and be VERY careful not to speed, even a few kph! You'll have a great trip, it was one of the best I've enjoyed...and Happy 50th for 2023. Paul.

If you've never used Sugru before, once moulded into the required shape and trimmed any excess, ensure you leave it for 24/48 hrs to completely harden before you start fiddling about adding the GP etc...maybe my Best Vlogging Setup vid would answer your Q more visually.
