And I'll be dammed if I'll read comments to pick on someone just because they made a mistake in their non-native language. You are doing great.
The more you watch these scenes from the Sopranos, the more you realise the fantastic writing, acting and character development (I can't abide pretentious jargon - but jees, the depth of the characters and the way you see them evolve over the seasons is immense). The way the writers depict the gangsters' hypocrisy is unmatched... I can't believe the real mobsters didn't see it !
Some people still dont see the hypocrasy or straight up just ignore it. The writers did such an excellent job of showing the hypocrosy in Tony, Carmela, Meadow, Paulie, and Chris that you'd have to be blind, deaf and dumb to miss it, as it was most of the time the main point of certain scenes.
They did see it. Members of the Cavalcante Family are the upon which the Sopranos was vaguely based, were quoted on wiretap saying, "you seen this thing, The Sopranos ? Is this about us ?" They even said it was entertaining. Words to that effect.
"Its 2006; there's pillow biters in the special forces" Tony Soprano is an insecure, angry, pyscopathic, horrible character but by this point in the show (after getting shot by uncle jun) you can see he is already changing how he looks at things and being more mindful and considerate. The character development on this show was excellent and seeing tony go from a guy who had knee-jerk reactions of anger and aggression, to a guy who did more thinking and contemplating than before was so satisfying. Part of him didnt want to lose Vito because he really didnt care that Vito was gay and moreso because Vito was a high earner but he knew that he'd begin to lose the other men in the crew and good money if he kept Vito around.
I agree. You hit the nail on the head. Tony would have kept Vito. He was indifferent. Tony only cared about the money. He didn't care where it came from as long as he received it every week. He would have turned the other way altogether if it wasn't for other men like Carlo with their homophobia.
@WKD Salty that’s what a simple mind would only see but again, by this point in the show, Tony was changing a little bit. He had parts of him indeed being more understanding and more empathetic (not a lot but a little more than before)
I like this scene cause Tony love the money Vito was bringing. But the wolves in his team wouldnt allow a man that blows another man acess to the earnings.
It wasn't only that. Tony also had to show that *HE* makes the decision on Vito, nobody else. So yeah you're dead on that as the Boss he also definitely needed to factor the money part. Because well, why the hell are they doing this? But he also needed to let his Family know that whether Vito lives or dies it was because he said so, not them. In Tony's mind it was a power play. Then you have Silvio, as a great Consigliere, showing Tony the bigger picture. Yes he's the Boss, so what happens to Vito is his decision. But the same order of things he's trying to protect by affirming his power. He would lose if he didn't do what they wanted. So in the end Tony really had no options about what to with Vito. Especially with the outside actions of Leotardo.
@@TRivera13 I like your commentary on this scene. I have a question for you. Is Phil’s intervention in this, by killing Vito, a small win for Tony because he didn’t have to make the decision, or is it one of his big losses and contributing factors to the fate of his family in the last part of season six? I always felt like this moment led to his men losing more confidence in him as a leader and to keep them safe so ratting became an easy way out.
@@NPCSingularity It was a big loss for Tony's influence. Leotardo finding and killing Vito showed that he could do what Tony couldn't. It also showed that like you said any one of Tony's guys could be got. It was also Phil's payback for Tony not handing over Tony B.
He would've let Vito lives and do whatever he likes in Atlanta city had the NY people didn't know that Vito liked to play in the dirt. Tony might've disapproved of Vito's existence but he's still a business-minded guy and as long as Vito is making banks he would let it slide. But apparently getting on good the good side of Phil Leotardo worth more than whatever number Vito is pulling so he had to let throw Vito under the bus.
Gandolfini was the kind of old- school, multi-layered complex actor that made me fall in love with movies. He reflected the intensity of the mystery of the human condition as it truly is. Not like modern day, one-note actors who have destroyed cinema and film as art. Look at the last shot and the way the director can just leave him in focus as he processes this complex topic and never says a word... RIP.
They have a problem with the morals and principles and Tony says “ I don’t know if I’d have the boat without him” that says a lot Edit: and then sil saying people Will withhold serious money being a factor in Tony’s decision shows it’s all about the dollars and cents to him
There were pluses and minuses to now and then. Certain fashions were more desirable then, as opposed to the butt ugly bearded 4-eyed, tattooed manbunns we have now. And if not, then not far from that

"There's pillow biters in the special forces" I love that line right there. It's Tony acknowledging that just because somebody is gay does not mean that they're weak or not a badass
My only problem with the storyline, was that Vito genuinely was the weakest least badass of the group. Would have been more impactful if it was one of the stronger characters.
Tony is not acknowledging that, he’s a racist homophobic hypocritical piece of New Jersey trash. He is using that as an excuse because Vito bring him in so much money and doesn’t want that to go away
love the cunning of silvio here.he knows tony so the more anyone objects about vito the more he will stick his heels in just to prove hes boss so he doesnt mention the rights and wrongs.he knows how to manipilate tony so he picks up the fact it may hurt tonys pocket rather than any other reason.
Well he is right in this case, and he knows what angle could make Tony see, financial one. Also, all the big bosses were sensitive about earning, it's the fucking thing they are doing.
Carlo's line that "Some people feel its against our principles" really needs to become the next running Sopranos joke in the comment threads, especially given how developed the show's theme of all the major characters being massive hypocrites was.
I loved how they characterized Tony here. We’ve seen early in the show that he’s willing to give up his morality for money and power. But here we see that he’s also willing to slide on his own ethics/beliefs for the sake of money and power.
“I don’t know if I’d have the new boat without him!” Tony really knew how to motivate people to work harder.

@@Blue13GBG12 many people that speak English nativity still make many mistakes. English is also my second language. I hadn't noticed any mistakes in your post. As long as you're not learning English from Little Carmine, you should be fine.
Silvio's grumpy face in 3:44. All time classic
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wtf
"Its 2006; there's pillow biters in the special forces"
Tony Soprano is an insecure, angry, pyscopathic, horrible character but by this point in the show (after getting shot by uncle jun) you can see he is already changing how he looks at things and being more mindful and considerate.
He had parts of him indeed being more understanding and more empathetic (not a lot but a little more than before)
@WKD Salty I bet you’re a Joe Rogan fan. Am I right? lol
@WKD Salty Nah Salty probably watches a bunch of Ben Shapiro
Would everyone just calm down
That Carlo light sprint at 00:03…lmao
Carlo lipstick was on Vito’s pocket 😂
@@TRivera13 another great answer. Thanks!
“He’s a come from behind kinda guy”
- The nonchalant delivery makes the line stick even more
Tony: "He's a real come from behind kind of guy... "
Sil:👀
Silvio.. he speaks the truth.. great guy to have in a band also
Carlo: "I don't know what to say!"
Tony: "Have a drink."
Carlo: "...Another time, Anthony."
RIP.
“He’s a Come from behind kind of guy”. - Silvios face… lol. Silvio = Greatest consigliere of all time.
Tony's facial expressions in this scene are classic
They have a problem with the morals and principles and Tony says “ I don’t know if I’d have the boat without him” that says a lot
Edit: and then sil saying people Will withhold serious money being a factor in Tony’s decision shows it’s all about the dollars and cents to him
I love how Tony can just feel Sil wanting to say something lol.
"Tony it's against our principles, it's a sin" but lying, stealing, murdering...eh
Meh.
Yeah, that was the writers hitting us over the heads with the hypocrisy.
Ok you are gay. We get it
“Our principals”. As in they might just have different principals than a modern sjw.
@@gt2e As opposed to a traditional sjw?
Tony’s last attempt to defend Vito
The way Carlo laughs after Tony promotes him(0.28) 😂😂😂
Carlo is basically just speaking for himself by the end of that speech, surprised Tony didn't call him out directly.
Excellent consigliere Silvio is. He examined all of the “loopholes” that could go wrong, which could cause problems in the future.
Sils face when he says “he’s a come from behind kind a guy.”
Tony was a very understanding guy for that time
That time? 2006 ain't even 15 years ago.
@@fenrislegacy It seems like a long time ago though.
There were pluses and minuses to now and then. Certain fashions were more desirable then, as opposed to the butt ugly bearded 4-eyed, tattooed manbunns we have now. And if not, then not far from that
It's easy to be understanding when your best earner is on the chopping block.
3:24 Tony breaking the 4th wall. 😲
Tony's only worried about the cash flow
Facts 💯
He cares about come from

Just like Carmine said to Johnny Sack when he wanted to whack Ralphie for calling his wife fat. Yes it's about the money, they aren't in a criminal organization for the charity.
Uh yes, why do you think they're in the mafia? Lol
@@kristinalfc5846 Porbably they're in the mafia to preserve some Italian heritage and educate people about Italian culture? Not everyone does it for the money.
Peak television. We'll never get TV this good ever again.
When Silvio said, "take Paulie, you know perfectly well guys like him never kick up full percent" was so on point. Must be exhausting talking about principles and traditions when it boils down to money. With Tony especially cuz all he cares about is money
Here comes "silvio loyal to the end" comments
If I was called to see Tony I'd crap my pants. You never know why he wants to see you. Gandolfini was a brilliant actor.
That's why Carlo was laughing like crazy when Tony said it's a promotion, normally an invitation like this meant bye bye 👋
Did you see you Vito sneak up on Jackie Jr in broad daylight? He had the makings of a Navy SEAL
Tony is not acknowledging that, he’s a racist homophobic hypocritical piece of New Jersey trash. He is using that as an excuse because Vito bring him in so much money and doesn’t want that to go away
Being agy means you are weak by nature.....God says so
@@neiltorres1883 Per his discussion with the therapist, he really didn't care if he was gay or not.
Thank you for just showing the clip without some unnecessary and annoying voice over. I really appreciate that!
i think this was Silivo at his best. His advice was spot on there and Tony knew it.
0:53 "Skip the preambles" 😂😂
love the cunning of silvio here.he knows tony so the more anyone objects about vito the more he will stick his heels in just to prove hes boss so he doesnt mention the rights and wrongs.he knows how to manipilate tony so he picks up the fact it may hurt tonys pocket rather than any other reason.
Well he is right in this case, and he knows what angle could make Tony see, financial one.
Also, all the big bosses were sensitive about earning, it's the fucking thing they are doing.
Good observation
"I wouldn't have my Shinebox without him"
hey now......you just go back to eating your Johnnie cakes and forget about all that.

To be honest this is a great scene very well acted by all three actors !
Carlo's body language towards Tony is surpringly very respectful.
Silvios expression on the “come from behind” line

Every scene of sil and tony was excellent
This show is brilliant I'll watch the entire series of breaking bad and this show every other year .
"It's against our principles"
Not murder, adultery, exploitation of women, stealing... The show perfectly highlights their hypocrisy
You can tell hes really listening, when sil says take Paulie okay , Tony sortof nodded as if right.

“Pillow Biters” 😂😂😂 3:23
Silvio is so smart he was right for telling tone to lay off the defense
There is more subtle brilliant in this one scene that most whole movies.
This is one of those moments where i think if tony had just listened to Silvio more, so much of the shows conflict could’ve been avoided
Carlo's line that "Some people feel its against our principles" really needs to become the next running Sopranos joke in the comment threads, especially given how developed the show's theme of all the major characters being massive hypocrites was.
The way the camera kept Silvio out of focus when speaking with Tony was masterful direction.
I loved how they characterized Tony here. We’ve seen early in the show that he’s willing to give up his morality for money and power. But here we see that he’s also willing to slide on his own ethics/beliefs for the sake of money and power.
