Meantime from ireland today (RTE). From Ireland today (RTE report): A report today suggests that the level of racism directed at black people in Ireland has increased over the past five years. The research also found that people of African descent in the EU "face ever more racism and discrimination". The 'Being Black in the EU' report was carried out by the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights. It examined the experiences of more than 6,700 people of African descent living in 13 different EU countries. This is the second such report, the first report was carried out in 2016. 524 respondents in Ireland were surveyed. More than half of them (55%) said they experienced racial discrimination over the last five years. This was an increase from 48% in 2016 and is higher than the overall level across the 13 EU countries surveyed (45%). the level of harassment in Ireland is higher than the overall level in the countries surveyed (30%). A total of 6% said they had experienced a racist attack, however 64% of people of African descent in Ireland said they worried about becoming a victim of a racist attack. This is far higher than the average across the 13 countries surveyed (35%).

I recall it was British ships firing at the 'enemy' and hitting their citizenry instead. Simon, any truth to this?
I recently read a novel called 'The Abstainer', set in Manchester in 1867, and concerning the events of Fenian activities. It's by the same author as the brilliant book(and TV series) 'The North Water'.
In the 19th century Ireland was governed, as one historian said "almost continuously since the Act of Union by Coercion Acts". A politician Joseph Chamberlain said "It is a system founded on the bayonets of thirty thousand soldiers encamped permanently, as in a hostile country" Rebellions had broken out over the previous centuries. Also shortly before, the people had endured the horrors of famine, so that attempted prison break doesn't really compare to the 9/11 attacks because they weren't carried out by people to free prisoners who wanted independence the Clerkenwell Explosion would be more comparable to a scenario where England was governed by another country that a minority group in England were loyal to, a minority who thought of the English people as being "Aliens in blood, in religion, and in language", which is how the Irish were described in the House of Commons (maybe, for example, if England was under Muslim rule and had been settled by a large number of Muslims, but this Muslim enclave did not outnumber the population of English Protestants) I bet in that scenario some English men would also plot some attacks to free their country
Ireland flourished and became rich as a constituent member of the union and Empire. A large part of the struggle was the Catholics wanting to oust a protestant monarchy.
@@ElBauldo64 The Anglo-Irish Protestant Ascendancy flourished and became rich, the Irish Catholics who were a majority of the population, did not. Ireland was so poor that Starvation regularly was listed a cause of death, not just during the famine times Select Committees carried out enquiries and attributed the inflammable state of the population to "the extreme physical misery of the peasantry" Many visitors to Ireland wrote accounts of people living in destitution in mud cabins or even in holes in the ground when they were evicted, and of seeing Irish men in the fields who resembled living skeletons. One even described the Irish national dress as "rags": Writers such as Gustave de Beaumont, Johann Georg Kohl, Arthur Young, Henry David Inglis, Asenath Nicholson
The famine that had such a terrible effect on Ireland also affected much of Europe and was caused by guess what? Climate change - long periods of cold wet weather causing crops to fail. Strangely enough this just happens to coincide with the datum point quoted by the climate alarmists for global warming.
@@sb8163🎯Yes ancestors of mine died in that engineered " Famine". The occupation was evil and Tyrannical. @@ElBauldo64Correct. If PC Moriarty was around today he would be made police commissioner for London, as he obviously was blind to wrongdoing just ike the muslim protest this week.
But who was really behind the Clerkenwell Outrage? One clue might be in the real identity of PC Moriarty. We must ask: Was he extremely tall and thin, with his forehead domed out in a white curve, and his two eyes deeply sunken in his head? Was he clean-shaven, pale, and ascetic-looking and retaining something of the professor in his features? If so a good consulting detective could have cleared up the case in no time.
PC Moriarty - clearly Met Commissioner material.

Honest RUclips; we're just discussing that jovial Chinese fellow, Han'Ging 😏

When have Terrorists ever achieved anything ?
the old empire countries would still be colonies without them.
@@thomasrobert4654 Wrong
Jason. The answer is never. Thuggery aka terrorism only causes misery and maiming.
Niether S-Ireland nor Israel exist because of terrorism, rather in spite of it. The British had already decided on home rule for Ireland and a home for the Jews in the region then known as Palestine, long before the terrorist groups got involved.
If anything; the terrorism slowed down both coming about, wrought unnessesary bad blood between groups, and made most of those involved worse off in the long run because of it.
Terrorism has never achieved anything, unless you count death, destruction and the other side retaliating / hardening their bargaining position as an achievement 😂

If you throw a brick at me I am going to assume you are trying to kill me. Do you think a soldier should just stand there and take the risk? Of course not. He is well within his rights to defend himself with whatever means he has at his disposal. But it wasn't just bricks, was it? It was bottles full of piss or battery acid, or a nail bomb, or a petrol bomb. All of them potentially deadly, well, except for the piss that is. So you think these people were innocent?
Maybe they should go to Africa
I'm sure they'd be safer there

Yup. As always the terrorists harmed the very cause they claimed to be for; it's almost like their only motive was murdering people and encouraging a crackdown 🤔 .
Either way: Ireland would have got home rule much sooner and with less effusion of blood, had these terrorists never existed.

This was all new to me so I found it v interesting. It did in fact also remind me that I once read the WWII London blitz bombing was not only caused by enemy pilots but much death and damage was due to friendly fire through inefficient defence. I recall it was British ships firing at the 'enemy' and hitting their citizenry instead. Simon, any truth to this?

It's as screwed up as a Clerkenwell Orange.
Thanks for this slice of history ,!
Also shortly before, the people had endured the horrors of famine, so that attempted prison break doesn't really compare to the 9/11 attacks because they weren't carried out by people to free prisoners who wanted independence
the Clerkenwell Explosion would be more comparable to a scenario where England was governed by another country that a minority group in England were loyal to, a minority who thought of the English people as being "Aliens in blood, in religion, and in language", which is how the Irish were described in the House of Commons (maybe, for example, if England was under Muslim rule and had been settled by a large number of Muslims, but this Muslim enclave did not outnumber the population of English Protestants) I bet in that scenario some English men would also plot some attacks to free their country
Ireland was so poor that Starvation regularly was listed a cause of death, not just during the famine times
Select Committees carried out enquiries and attributed the inflammable state of the population to "the extreme physical misery of the peasantry"
Many visitors to Ireland wrote accounts of people living in destitution in mud cabins or even in holes in the ground when they were evicted, and of seeing Irish men in the fields who resembled living skeletons. One even described the Irish national dress as "rags":
Writers such as Gustave de Beaumont, Johann Georg Kohl, Arthur Young, Henry David Inglis, Asenath Nicholson
The Gaels rose up in a Heroic struggle against overwhelming odds in 1916 and won their freedom. A great example of what a minority of determined European men can do. Hopefully it will inspire our people in future. I'm proud to be of majority Gael origin.
