Great video. Covering the complete removal and reassembly is hardly ever shown in a DYI vid. Well done!
Great video Brian. My wife’s 2006 X5 is leaking oil and sometimes has a burnt oil smell inside the cabin. This video gives me confidence to replace the valve cover gasket. Keep up the good work. Your videos are very informative. Regards from Chula Vista.
It's the valve cover.... It happens for every BMW...
First time BMW owner, was very sceptical but I Done mine today, great how to video and easily done.
Thank you for the video, although I was not replacing the Valve Cover Gasket, I "simply" was changing the Valve Cover - this particular Valve cover came with Gasket installed. Point being, your video walked me through the process needed to complete my project. Big Thanks!
Great video. I think it make it possible for just about anyone to replace the valve cover. Thanks
Jim Rivers Glad the video is helpful. Thank you for watching!
Straight to the point and very descriptive. Exactly what I needed to see to get the job done. If all videos were like this, the world would be a better place!
How many hours took you to do it?
@@samoo8933 about 2 hours if you have all the tools ready. But it was my first time, if I would do it again probably be only an hour.
@@artemverdiyan2768 I see, where do you live? I am in Canada mechanic quote me 500$. Do know why. Said take one day. Mechanics are Scammers
Bro i use to work in bmw cars and this is a very detailed video... I subscribe u chanel👍
luis Garcia thank you watching and the sub!
I appreciate this video, I’ve been trying to find this for a while now. How long did this actually take you? Kind of thinking about going to a mechanic and getting it done. I was quoted at $450. Wondering if this is a good price to spend on parts and labor.
Excellent video.
Decided to change plugs at the same time. Why not? WARNING: make sure your rubber insert plug socket doesn't grip plugs too tightly. Mine did, and on removing the short extension bar, the socket stayed behind on the plug, and it was too deep down to extract with any other tool. After years in the trade and having too many tools, found another well used insert socket, and after removing the plug again, was able to replace it, not leaving the socket behind!
My mechanic wants to replace the entire cover. He claims these can crack. In your experience, do the covers crack?
Amazing video
Did you remove the battery?
Good stuff .. short sweet and to the point.
Thank you. Did everything go smooth for you?
Hey Brian, nice video. How long it takes you to replace the gasket?

I have a bmw truck 2000 x5 I was driven one day I kept hearing squeaky noise then my truck start shaking then I stop at a red light then the truck just Cut off then I could not crack it back up what do I think that is
Very well done. Thank you!
Hello, I have a BMW X5 3.0i year 2002, I have a problem with the second gear, in D from first to second the motor goes in to limp mode, I have to drive it in manual shifting from first to third gear, what do you think is the problem, it is a solenoid? Best regards
Carlos Sánchez we need to figure out why it's going into limp home mode. I would start by pulling the code. It could have nothing to do with the transmission and be an engine problem. So I would start there having the codes pulled.
The dealer says it's a problem in the transmission
Carlos Sánchez if you can find out what codes there was it would help. There's so many things it could be.
Who would down vote this? Probably a used BMW owner. LOL
YouSoundButtHurt I think I have a hater. Just about every video I post five seconds after it up there's a dislike. Lol
Well I watch all your vids, they're well done, informative and to the point.
By the way, what's your opinion on the newer turbo BMWs? I'm thinking of picking up either a 2011-2012 135i or a 335i but I'm not sure I want to bother with a turbo BMW.
YouSoundButtHurt i'll tell you right now that turbo car is fast find a drive but it does leak oil. If you get one you will most likely be working on it from time to time.
I just changed my valve cover gasket and played your video and followed your step by step instructions. I am very grateful for this video. 💯💯
GBO SOSA glad the video helped. Thank you for watching!
Awesome video
Thank you!
for me you are a king you changed a gasket of head bmwx5 with 1 hand 🙌
ARMADA CANADIENNE KALACHNIKOV I use camera mounts now and better video editing. Glad you like the the video. Thank you for watching!
How many hours took you to do it?
Great video! The only thing I would like to mention is that there are only 15 bolts on the valve cover itself. Eleven around the edges and four down the center. I was working on a 2006 BMW X5 3.0i.
This job is pretty easy for your average mechanic. If you're a beginner I think you could handle this project also.
Again, great video! There are alot of bad ones out there.
Thank you and keep up the good work!
You make it look so easy. Why would my mechanic want to charge me $975 to do this job?
Great video!
Thank you so much! God bless you! Would love to find a link to donate to your Chanel for all the wonderful help!

Great video! Very thorough!!!
Excellent, clear and concise.
Great video. Thanks
Are you in Ohio Brian?
Hello good work
Could a high pitched loud squealing noise that starts about 5 miles into driving be caused by a faulty valve cover seal?
Sid Kay Yes the PCV inside the valve cover has most likely gone bad. The way to tell is to take the oil cap off with the engine running and if the hissing are squealing noise goes away that is where their problem lies.
How to Automotive great - thank you so much - if you’re in Los Angeles area I would bring my car to you to fix - are you?
How to Automotive what’s PCV please?
Sid Kay I’m in San Diego.👍🏻
Nice video I loved it
