Straight to the point and very descriptive. Exactly what I needed to see to get the job done. If all videos were like this, the world would be a better place!
Great video Brian. My wife’s 2006 X5 is leaking oil and sometimes has a burnt oil smell inside the cabin. This video gives me confidence to replace the valve cover gasket. Keep up the good work. Your videos are very informative. Regards from Chula Vista.
Great video! The only thing I would like to mention is that there are only 15 bolts on the valve cover itself. Eleven around the edges and four down the center. I was working on a 2006 BMW X5 3.0i. This job is pretty easy for your average mechanic. If you're a beginner I think you could handle this project also. Again, great video! There are alot of bad ones out there. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Thank you for the video, although I was not replacing the Valve Cover Gasket, I "simply" was changing the Valve Cover - this particular Valve cover came with Gasket installed. Point being, your video walked me through the process needed to complete my project. Big Thanks!
Thanks so much for providing this useful info. I've done a few, but needed a refresher. Your video reminded me it ain't too bad, and all the details I needed to pay attention to. Thanks!!
I appreciate this video, I’ve been trying to find this for a while now. How long did this actually take you? Kind of thinking about going to a mechanic and getting it done. I was quoted at $450. Wondering if this is a good price to spend on parts and labor.
Great DIY video! I live here Orlando and thinking about purchasing a used vehicle that needs this done. Do you know the average cost for labor if I purchase parts myself?
Hi Brian Do you have any video on how to remove valve cove on bmw 2007 x5 4.8 on do you have any link you can forward to me,thanks in advance for your help
@@HowtoAutomotive hi, I just opened up the package that my new gasket came in and it doesn't include the grommet seals. Should I hold out for a more inclusive set?
Decided to change plugs at the same time. Why not? WARNING: make sure your rubber insert plug socket doesn't grip plugs too tightly. Mine did, and on removing the short extension bar, the socket stayed behind on the plug, and it was too deep down to extract with any other tool. After years in the trade and having too many tools, found another well used insert socket, and after removing the plug again, was able to replace it, not leaving the socket behind!
Hi Brian I need your assistance i have a 2008 bmw 328i Convertable, the AC is blowing but the air is not cold i checked the freon and its ok, any Suggestion would be great
Hello, I have a BMW X5 3.0i year 2002, I have a problem with the second gear, in D from first to second the motor goes in to limp mode, I have to drive it in manual shifting from first to third gear, what do you think is the problem, it is a solenoid? Best regards
Carlos Sánchez we need to figure out why it's going into limp home mode. I would start by pulling the code. It could have nothing to do with the transmission and be an engine problem. So I would start there having the codes pulled.
Sid Kay Yes the PCV inside the valve cover has most likely gone bad. The way to tell is to take the oil cap off with the engine running and if the hissing are squealing noise goes away that is where their problem lies.
I have a bmw truck 2000 x5 I was driven one day I kept hearing squeaky noise then my truck start shaking then I stop at a red light then the truck just Cut off then I could not crack it back up what do I think that is
Great video. Covering the complete removal and reassembly is hardly ever shown in a DYI vid. Well done!

@@samoo8933 about 2 hours if you have all the tools ready. But it was my first time, if I would do it again probably be only an hour.

Do you need to put sealant on the inside gasket that protect the spark plugs or just only on the outer rim of the valve gasket?

@@HowtoAutomotive hi, I just opened up the package that my new gasket came in and it doesn't include the grommet seals. Should I hold out for a more inclusive set?
@@allenschneider167 if the grommets are still soft, then you’ll probably be OK reusing them. But if they’re hard, I would wait for the new gasket set.

Could a high pitched loud squealing noise that starts about 5 miles into driving be caused by a faulty valve cover seal?
