I ran this defense for the first time last year at the junior level. You really explained the interplay of the 3s and 2s! This will be teaching tape for my players this year! Thanks!
Coach - I'd add an additional "key" - COMMUNICATION - defense needs to be talking all the time - "I'm in help!" "Box out!" "Close out!" "Ball, ball, ball" ... I hammer it home day one of prax - what scores? "The Ball" All eyes - Man, You, Basket, Ball. Great vid!
Thanks for watching. We will be releasing a detailed video of how we install this defense. The breakdown drills as well as the everyday drills we do to make it successful. It will also include the variations of the defense as well such as the press. It will be the first product for sale from championship hoops.
I notice most of these clips don't have a strong high post presence. Have you run into trouble with a good high post player? Also, what are the rotations on drives to the basket? Finally, is this your main zone defense? Thanks!
With the way the game is changing not may players want to play inside but rather shoot the three. This defense is great for defending the three. However, if the player in the high post wants to shoot that jumper we will let him. The 1's and 2's must work together to limit penetration. You will be surprise how many team slow down and just want to swing the ball. This is our main zone defense but we do teach man to man first.
@@championshiphoops3191 Thanks Coach! It looks like you may give up some open 3's when the ball is swung from strongside wing to weakside wing (very long closeout for the 2 in the "hole"). They didn't make them in these clips but I'm sure they could... Did you have any issues with this? How much would you run this compared to your M2M? I'm alternating btwn M2M and 2-3 and I'm contemplating changing to 3-2 to help cover 3 pt shooters (there are lots in our league). Thanks!

Looks like 3-2 Zone
Definitely similar. What I would say is the 1-2-2 encourages traps on the wings and corners.
