    Clever how you connected your sheet metal strip to the air diverters.

    I love how the expensive ones are simply branded and sold at a higher price. Yet the same one shown by radium can be purchased on AliExpress from the manufacturer for the cost of the cheaper alternative anyway.
    Most of the universal stuff these days is manufactured in China. Then vendors like radium, real street, mishimoto and mocal and many others just buy them in bulk.
    Even real streets catch can though gorgeous is simply the same as found on AliExpress for $30 or less and the only difference is real street put a spacer between the filter and body.

      I've never seen the likes of Radium style catch cans on aliexpress however the second catchcan is what Mishimoto initially sold to the public, worst design by far.

    I have a turbo focus ST, and currently in proccess - do I shell out 200+ for Mishimoto or Boomba catch cans, or do I buy a $30 can off ebay and do similar mods like you have - I chose the latter.

    How did you make the additional baffle? Looks like just sheet metal that you cut and drilled. Then bent and used the diverter to mount the metal to and added the steel wool?

      @OhItsJustZhu 4 года назад +1

      Yeah, you got it exactly! I got the sheet metal from Home Depot for cheap and did some cutting and bending. I forget if I riveted it in or used existing screws but I'll check this weekend. Thanks for the question!

    I have an oil catch can almost identical to the generic one you demonstrated with, except that mine is a 2-port configuration and I purchased it on eBay. The problem I'm having is that oil is leaking from the lower drain bolt on the bottom of the catch can, has anyone else had this problem?.. and what did you use to fix the problem? I'm guessing the standard bolt isn't sufficient for the pressure it is under...

      Use TPFE tape for the screw thread, this is the reference product :

    I believed that some oil catch cans will increase the pressure in the system due to the restricted flow, such as the bronze micron filter, is that more harmful than good?

    • @OhItsJustZhu
      @OhItsJustZhu 3 года назад +4

      The bronze filter adds less resistance than you'd think. The stock PCV valve is like a ball bearing check valve situation so I'd think that it would have more restriction than the catch can

    I have the cheap copy version of the Mashimoto item it is exactly the same both in materials used and quality.Both are Chinese made.The copy version has better threading than the massively over priced Mashimoto.You probably don't want to hear this but I have to tell you the copy works perfectly. £134 for the Mashimoto and £10 for the copy version here in the UK.
    A final thought.Had you have been reviewing the Mashimoto version,I doubt you would have criticised the filtration method Mashimoto used,you would have accused Mashimoto of not knowing what they are doing! That would never do would it?

      Yep! I believe it. I only bought the knock off haha. It's crazy how large the mark up for something so generic. And you've gotta think even our knock offs, someone made money selling it too.

    Hey man how's it going I got the mishimoto catch can the 253$ one or so . And I don't want to spend the extra money for the top to be a l fitting . Do you have any ideas on what I can use to change the top fitting to a L instead .. because I'm not trying to spend literally 35$ for a fitting ...

    • @OhItsJustZhu
      @OhItsJustZhu 4 года назад +2

      Hey, cool to see that you got such a nice catch can, very pricey indeed. There's a few ways you could do this.
      From what I've read, the threading on the catch can should be M20x1.5 (you should try to confirm this by going to ACE hardware, or any other hardware store). Once you confirm the threads, you can do this:
      1. get a M20x1.5 to -10AN adapter (~$9) and the pair that with a 90 degree -10AN hose barb fitting (~$15) and you'll have a 90 degree swivel.
      or
      2. If you're not into looks as much as function, you can look for whatever size hose that it comes with, but search 90 degree molded [hose size here] hose and you should be able to find a decent selection, just be sure that the hose is rated for use with hot oil. You could even just bring the fitting you already have to autozone, or advanced auto and ask a sales associate if that have a 90 degree angled hose that fits your application. All you really need is the 90 angle and the rest you could probably mate with hose connectors or whatever.
      Hope this helps you out, man. Let me know if you run into anything else.

    Your close....It's made to clean.. filter.. separate the bad oil due to carbon build up drying and setting on top of the valves until eventually it comes loose...into the internal parts of the motor....This very bad problem is undetected in these types of motors with direct injection spraying the fuel under the valve instead of over the valves...unless you have a catch can and separate the bad oil carbons sludge separate the dirty oil it's going to...Try and explain one more time..... jamming hardened sludge clogging burning carbon that has been setting on the top of the valves..Older motor designs sprayed the fuel over the valve actually cleaning breaking down the carbon deposits using the solvents in gasoline..and recent newer motors have two injectors for each valve spraying on top to keep carbon from developing and also spraying directly under to get better fuel mileage...... I'm sure someone could explain it a little better.... Hope this helps you.. it helped me I have the f150 3.5L EcoBoost backfire misfire while passing ruff idling.....simple fix catch can.. dual cans... Great video I have to learn how to edit make some RUclips vids ..yes I know and write too... lol ......GoodLuck and GbPT
