Quite a journey for the Boks. Interesting to see the players that came through from 2015 to form the core of that 2019 squad. Must have been a very special journey for them.
English man here showing respect for an incredible turnaround...in rasmus u have one of the greatest coaches of all time, such a competitor, and on a personal note I think faf is my favourite scrum half of all time, he stands out to me amongst so much generational talent...way to go boks
that's super sweet! it's been such a journey for the boks and to be honest the turnaround was very much needed for the moral of our country. so much has gone wrong that just a good sports team is enough to have the entire country celebrating, and it's that piece of hope that we desperately needed at the time. much love from south africa 🇿🇦❤
The greatest Springbok scrum half in the professional era is undoubtedly - Fourie Du Preez! Preceded by non other than - Dr Danie Craven. Absolute honourable mention - Joost Van Der Westhuizen 1995 WC final. RIP.
Springboks the greatest team in the world right now. There on the peak of their rugby. Looking forward to the greatest rivalry on earth in rugby springboks V all blacks ❤. As a supporter of both countries i love to see them on the height of their powe in rugby. Rassie is a great coach. I respect him. Love from Sri Lankan fan of both rugby powerhouses. ❤🇳🇿🇿🇦
11:20 into the video, you can see how hurt he is. We all ft your pain Eben. Look at us now, with the right coaching of Rassie now. Since 2016, we have won both rugby world cups. In order to succeed you need to taste failure. Well done to the almighty Boks and the amazing coaching staff. ❤❤
The Brighton miracle wasn't the worst day in SA rugby history that's disrespectful to that Japan side. Worst day was when Allister Coetzee was appointed head coach and we lost 57-0 to the AB
I agree. It's very close between the Brighton Miracle, Allister, Italy and the 57-0. The Brighton Miracle is just on top of my list especially if you look at the big names we had in that match.
Know nothing about rugby🤣 Do you know something? One can clearly see the players are themselves to blame for their lacklustre performances. The captain was also to blame for this disgrace.
All built on the shoulders of one man - Rassie Erasmus. He already got his honourary doctorate but if its up to me this guy can get a Nobel prize for what he achieved
wait, I have a tear too & I am a NZer! Its an incredible rise from Zeros to Hero's. Can see why you have so much love for the famous Rassie Erasmus - Legend of the sport 🖤🤍💛💚
We cannot be labeled the best rugby team of all time yet. That honor still belongs to NZ. But it certainly is a golden era for the Boks...and may it continue for a long time.
Painful beyond painful watching those test matches before Rassie turned it around. I hate to think what will happen after Rassie. Will coaches who just don't have the ability be forced upon us again. One only has to look at the lack of quality in the present Currie Cup. Very poor level of skills and confused gameplans
Watching this video stirs so much emotion. As a South African, rugby isn’t just a sport-it’s woven into our identity. The Springboks have endured such challenging times, and yet, here we are, witnessing the magic a truly exceptional coach can bring. Some of these players, still going strong, even older now, are playing the best rugby of their lives. It’s not just skill-it’s the belief a coach ignites, transforming them into legends right before our eyes.
They truly have something special. Sports can truly helps unite a country. The back to back rugby World Cup wins is greater than the one in 1995 with Mandela in attendance. It doesn’t solve the economic problems regular South Africans face, but it’s a starting place.
thans for this it will always be in our memory. i said to myself South African sports is gone fore ever then Rassie came and it changed all the sports for the better.
Not going to lie, that first 15 minutes of your video was difficult to watch but great vid none the less and here we are, back to back RWC Champions and first to four.
Allister got a raw deal. The rugby bosses implemented a 30 cap game rule where no over seas players could be selected if they played less than 30 games as well as contracted player pool to be used for matches.AS soon as Rassie got the job and fired Allister those same rules that restricted Allister from selcting players he wanted got binned and boom Rassie looks like a genius. Those same players threw Allister under the bus knowing they will still be selected regardless.
Does no one remember how they took tjoepie "coetzee" for a p not to back him or anything but no oversee player were released Duwayne, straus, willie, etc etc and then Rassie came along and suddenly all those players, playing abroad was avail....... anyways the build was good after that with Rassie in charge
I doubt it would have made any difference. It was all too evident that the Bok side under Coetzee had no structure and a woeful lack of communication. Coetzee tried to implement an All Blacks style of rugby from the get-go and had the players running around like chickens without heads. To better understand how the Springboks went from a 57-0 drubbing (against the All Blacks) to world cup winners I'd suggest, if you haven't already done so, watching Chasing the Sun.
The Brighton Miracle was NOWHERE NEAR the worst day in SA rugby history. It was one of those "I'm not even mad, that's impressive" moments. SA underestimated a weaker but highly motivated opposition and got beaten. It happens. It was embarassing, but nobody seriously thought it was anything but a blip. And it cost SA nothing - they still qualified from the group and ran all the way to the semifinal of that World Cup, where they lost to an all-time-great New Zealand side by two points. All in all, a performance the squad could hold their heads up high about. The REAL worst day in SA rugby history is the 53-3 hammering by England in 2002, as much for the disgraceful way that that team gave up playing rugby and just started trying to injure their opponents as for the actual scoreline.
I kept saying "Thank you, Rassie" while watching. Even at the start when they showed AC's face. He was never ready and so in denial. But our Rassie is a born leader. Absolute LEGEND! ❤
I would have loved to see a bok's vs ab's final in 2019, unfortunate to see NZ lose so decidedly to England that year. I think the pool game that the bok's lost was not entirely a reflection of how close the game was. And seeing a 1 & 2 head to head clash in the finals would've been imactulate.
WTF? The same guys went from office Juniors to CEOs in 2 years?? Everything about them is full on Domination now thats crazy. Impressive and remarkable I mean.
For at least 10 years Namibia was the second best team in Africa. They recently relinquished that spot to Zimbabwe. Oh, and the head coach is, you guessed it, AC.
Eben already looks like he's about to flip the table or want to shed tears, when there's one thing about Eben is not to piss him off because this enforcer will bury you six feet under the ground but hey! We won the world cup and therefore we are still proud regardless of the trail, errors and hardship against every other team they've faced. Proud of you bokke.
We have always had the players. Bok teams generally have had really inferior coaching compared to NZ. Thank goodness for Rassie. We had to crash and burn so the idiots in SARU could see there is no space for quota coaches.
All of them was make a joke of Springbok rugby but now it was payback time from all of them Release of the BOM Squad all Got a problem 4 World Cup winners. Pray change everything but Springboks must stay humble at all time. Expect the unexpected.
Yes, that is why we are called the Boks - " The Springboks". Not only the fastest but the most elusive of them all. Back to back winners of the world cup. Percentage wise the best performers ever in the World Cup. "You can not say you are the best team in the world, until you played the Springboks," said a famous All Black many years ago in Apartheid. Rassie Erasmus needs special medallion in the annals of the great Springbok. He belongs to the geniuses to the likes of Danie Craven, Hannes Brewis. Frik du Preez, Morne du Plessis, Naas Botha, Carel du Plessis, Schlack Burger and Faf de Klerk and many more. So yes beat the Springboks first, then call yourself world champions. Arrogant?... lets see in yhe future
Coetzee was set up to fail you can say what but that's the truth when rassie come he can pick player's that plays aboard Coetzee wasn't given that choice
If I look at the opening games , the Boks literally had ZERO defensive system. I don't believe that Coetzee actually understood what a defensive system is. And don't even get me started on attacking.
Quite a journey for the Boks.
Interesting to see the players that came through from 2015 to form the core of that 2019 squad.
Must have been a very special journey for them.
Also, kudos to Rassie for stoking that "harregat"-South African tenacity
Dude seriously, what is it with all the long black pauses in between? It is incredibly irritating.

Can see Eben thinking "Ag ffs. Can someone just get rid of this oke already????"
My thoughts exactly. Eben was holding back from giving AC a moerse PK!
😂😂😂 Exactly! I came looking for this comment

Everyone forgets that we lost to “the greatest All Black team in history” in the 2015 RWC semifinal by 3 points, after the Japan loss
Sorry for being 'that guy', but we lost by 2 points😢
ye 18-20 :P
on a forward pass.
And went on to win bronze
Now New Zealand can lose and keep on losing to the greatest Rugby team in history 😎
So Proud to be South African these boys give us hope and unity

53-3 loss to England at Twickenham for me.

This warms my heart so much!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤ 🇿🇦 🇿🇦 🇿🇦 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
As a die hard All Blacks supporter it has made me so happy to see the SA endure hardship until success they showed heart and it paid off
Your soundtrack is the best. You're in the right line of work. Awesome!!

excellent editing ... it tells the story.

and 40 minutes too long

they were using tactics in the scrum so we got no reward for our scrums
To be fair SA reached the semifinals and lost by 2 points to NZ, they could've won it in 2015. Allister Coetzee was the reason for the downfall.

The 2018 wellington game was the turn around for me I knew greatness was coming
The all blacks can win there ever since
Sbu Nkosi was a damn fine winger and finisher. Pity he went off the rails.
I believe that the players should have the right to call a vote of no confidence on the coach as well - but it has to be unanimous.
Greatest strategist, tactician ever
In hindsight it is impressive that Coetzee made a team, that would win back to back world cups look to terrible
