Many times, the person is experiencing a mental health crisis and/or is intoxicated, which poses a danger to themselves, the police, and the public. It's unfortunate and sad that this man was shot, but he kidnapped a police officer by speeding off with him on his car and put that cop's life at risk. Technically battery on a LEO when he hit him with the door. With that being said this is a mental health case that didn’t need to go like this. At no point should that deputy have jumped on the truck as he did. Mental health is a serious issue in the US and it needs to be addressed but this is not the way it needed to go. The officer if he believed he would be able to send the suspect for psychiatric treatment or evaluation should’ve never let him drive off; unfortunately, there isn’t enough training on mental health issues like this for LEO’s and these deputies messed it up.

I WONDER if the decedent caused the fire that killed his parents? We don’t know that. I’m just curious. What they DID say is that he was spiraling out worse and worse. Using hard drugs. Paranoid. He was a ticking time bomb. That said, by HIS OWN actions (driving away from when he was detained INITIALLY-that started the whole thing, being pulled over, etc.) pulling away a SECOND time.. he caused his own demise. The police saved his remaining family and community from any future harm. And THAT’S the duty of law enforcement. To protect and serve the public. They did that, CASE CLOSED.

      Yeah it's well known in every law book and every ancient tomb and scroll of law that if a police officer is investigating you for any reason, you have the right given by God and all intelligent life in the known cosmos to leave. Now full disclosure to be fair and balanced, there have been rumors that obstruction, resisting, interfering, fleeing, and eluding are sort of like, not technically illegal of course but sort of frowned upon or breaking a light social taboo of sorts.
      Of course these can't be a crime because as stated in the most ancient of legal lore, you have the right to disengage and leave no matter what the so called "officer" says, and especially if the so called "law enforcement" says they are investigating a crime or checking on the welfare of someone. How do we even know these "officers" are even real law enforcement? Anyone can identify themselves as law enforcement, anyone can get a police car or badge off TEMU.
      They should have been contacted by a JUDGE, the president, AND the secretary of defense showing video footage locked behind no less than 5 layers of encryption of the officer being sworn in and officially being given authority by the state. Without this you have the right to deem these "police" as fake kidnappers who can be left or fought in self defense.
      Besides, it was clearly stated that this innocent man was not against the law, and it was clearly stated that the so called "cops" are against the law.

    It's not a crime to be angry or want to be left alone! I think it's a crime that an adult child has the right to have cops show up on their parents property and force them to explain how they're not mentally ill to the degree that requires intervention. His daughter could have told the cops any story she wanted, true or not.
    The purpose of a welfare check is to check on somebody who you cannot see or reach and there is concern for their safety. But his daughter was at his house and he was obviously alive and not needing anything other than for her to leave him alone. There was no violence threatened nor was he mentally ill. The police are not social workers. What did she think they were going to do? Haul him away for wanting to be left alone? It's ridiculous!
    Obviously he should not have driven off and certainly should have stopped once he realized the officer was on the truck. I imagine he was beyond frustrated by then and, knowing that he'd already crossed a line, decided to just ride it out and keep going. Doing that did show a disregard for the officer's safety, which does make the shooting justified. But the entire scenario leading up to that point was created by people who felt they had the right to force him to explain his personal situation for no reason at all. They had no right. I feel like this should be on the daughter, for the most part, for calling the cops for no legitimate reason. So upsetting to see this unfold like it did. They could have just left him alone.

    • @Brandespada
      @Brandespada 5 дней назад +2

      I'm sorry but he had no right to be "left alone" no matter how bad the situation was. With the arrival of the police he had an obligation to explain what was happening, he took a risk and forced the situation which didn't end up well for him

    You arrive at a welfare check, walk into an argument, and then diffuse the situation. Both parties leave, how is it warranted to keep the man any longer? I understand WHY, but the initial officers last words were “Im asking you”. He responded no & left, and I can’t understand how that wasn’t the end of it. Should’ve just left the guy alone, it was clear he was agitated and any contact with him was only agitating him further.
