Sorting an InDesign Table with SmartSort 1.16

After watching the video (no sound?), I had high hopes that I'd be able to reorder the rows by descending year range in a table with repeating sections but different labels in column 1 by unmerging column 1 and selecting just the rows, but when I do that, nothing happens. I surmise that the issue is the years are written as 2009-2013 and this script doesn't handle that....

Update: I changed all the date ranges to just a single year and tried to sort. Nothing happened. I was able to change the sort on two unrelated very simple tables of a few columns. So I guess it's good for that. Anything complicated, forget it
