What these fighters are afraid of is losing what they've built up. They've worked however long, they're sitting on a ranking and they know an evening with Chimaev it's out the window. They're not afraid of getting beaten up. I hate to say it Magny is the man and one other guy that would do it and be up to it is Burns. Somebody's got to go. We're holding up progress here and that never works. It's all going to happen anyway and it will be worse if we keep this up too long. Chimaev, Islam and Khabib represent a shift. The sooner the sport and org accepts it and everyone starts adjusting the better and Chimaev is the nail in the coffin lid.
They should just fight him, and also start wrestling eastern Europeans as much as possible. These guys are so dominant that the other fighters are gonna need to develop the ability to at least defend takedowns, and get up from takedowns or they will have no chance of holding the title.
They're not Eastern Europeans mate, they're from Caucasus mountains which is just north of Central Asia. They aren't slavs, baltics or anything like that
Wont work though. I’ve wrestled these guys. You cant catch up by wrestling a few of them… its the training mentality from ground up that has to change. And that wont work either because in our western world kids dont stay at that training. Or parents will think its too tough on our kids.

I don’t know why the magny fight isn’t scheduled yet. Even if it’s not that great of a fight, he’s ranked higher so it helps khamzat grow and magny seems genuinely down.

I can see that Khamzat is convincingly beating his opponents in the fights he has had, but I dont see the nuances that people who fight see. So I am wondering, from you people who fight and actually know what you are looking at, what are the potential holes in Khamzats game that you are seeing? Thanks
It’s a promo strategy for Dana to build Chimaev’s stock, as they’re looking for their next cash cow. Behind the scenes they’re protecting this guy and not letting him fight the dangerous fights early
@Don Che Leon just doesn't deserve to be where he is in the rankings if you look at how many top ten guys he's beat. Like if Khamzat just kept beating guys outside of the top ten, he wouldn't deserve a title shot because he still hasn't proved himself. Leon is good, I just want to see him fight guys around his ranking, not almost get knocked out by Nate Diaz.
@Don Che Magny is a logical next step to break into the top ten. But Magny isn't a big draw, so they don't want to risk future bank if Chimaev loses. It's not rocket science and Magny is better than you think.
This is why khamzat was initially taking 185 lb and 170 lb fights. Becuz he knew fighters would start ducking him. Unfortunately management wants him focused on 170.
The problem with fighting Khazmat is that he is high risk and low reward. The guy can injure and demoralise, prematurely shorten a career and damage a reputation. the supply of potential fighters is very low, so Dana is going to have to pay a higher price. He is a commodity and Dana needs to invest and develop him correctly, he needs fights and he needs to go up steadily.
At this point Magny deserves a shot. Kumshot is calling out GSP, DC, Lesner, and claiming nobody wants to fight him. So let's get this straight, he calls out everyone who is retired, and ignores a legit callout. All while claiming to want to fight anyone. He's like Conor, all talk.

This is why khamzat was initially taking 185 lb and 170 lb fights. Becuz he knew fighters would start ducking him. Unfortunately management wants him focused on 170.
The problem with fighting Khazmat is that he is high risk and low reward. He is a commodity and Dana needs to invest and develop him correctly, he needs fights and he needs to go up steadily.
Neil magny isn't the ideal fight UFC is looking for. I suspect UFC wanted him to fight top 5.
