Played the hell out of this game when I was a kid, I definitely had the 1.0 cart with Godzilla and Spider-Man and etc. in it, too. One thing I remember from this era was plugging my Genesis into the TV in the other room via Composite instead of RF and the difference in picture quality was amazing, well, for those days, anyway. Also, around the 10:45 mark, if you keep killing those guys that come out of the revolving door, they do eventually stop, they aren't infinite spawns from what I recall.
This was one of the first games I bought for myself after getting my Genesis. It took me awhile, but I eventually beat it. The original game I bought did indeed feature Batman and the "fleshy" Godzilla. It wasn't until I got my 6-Pak cartridge that I realized they removed Batman, and skeletonized Godzilla.
I've had a couple of different revisions,. Had the original and one right after they changed Batman (Spider-Man would turn into some weird creature) and they changed Rambo... but never seen the skeletonized Godzilla. Looks like it's ROM hunting time lol.
While I've beaten Revenge of Shinobi several times, this guide is much appreciated! It's one of the best (and toughest games) made for Genesis, by a WIDE margin.
Yuzo Koshiro is one of the best composers of Genesis era game themes. Revenge of Shinobi and Streets of Rage would not be as memorable without his contributions to the audio.
This is my Mount Rushmore. Yuzo Koshiro, Koji Kondo from Nintendo, the Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu and lastly Norio Hanzawa from Treasure. These guys' work was on another level. Nobody could touch them at that time.
This was definitely a situation where buying the game at launch came with more benefits than being able to play it early. I never owned a Genesis, but it would've been awesome to play this game and find out that Godzilla, Rambo, Hulk, Terminator, Spider-Man, and Batman were in it. Even funnier, is if you owned this version, and a friend owned a later version, and seeing the shock on their face would be priceless.
There was some TV show back in the 90s that gave video game tips where one episode featured how to defeat the final boss of this game. It was a short clip but one thing I remember was the voice over guy describing the falling stone and if it reaches the bottom, "Naoko is No mo-ko". Funny thing is, I never caught what game this was and only realized until this video what game featured a woman being crushed to death behind a cage.
You missed a hidden Jitsu at the end of area 3-1. If you are standing on the very last pillar next to the POW/heart boxes, throw a kunai and collect the Jitsu which appears. There is also a hidden big heart in level 5-2.
The Master System port of the first Shinobi added a health bar, and a power up system where your throwing weapon and melee weapon would change based on how many hostages you rescued. It's different from the arcade version where said powerups are just for the level, and you have more weapons over all. You also get live bar extensions, throwing bombs that bounce and move in an arc. You also have to complete the shooting range mini games if you want to get any ninjitsu. I've heard or read somewhere that Sega Changed Joe's outfit to white because someone on the dev team thought that black was "A badguy color" or something to that effect. Rather dumb if you ask me, but hey, it helps him stand out in the over crowed world of ninja media, which is bad for a ninja, but good for business. Hibana, the main character from the PS2 game Nightshade, which is the sequel the PS2 Shinobi game, also wares the white and red color scheme. Also, Nightshade was called Kunoichi in other regions, which is what a female ninja is called, making that name fall more in line with the rest of the series. Honestly, I've never really liked the cameo bosses for a few reasons. 1) It feels either lazy or uncreative 2) It kinda gave me a sense of "My OC can beat up all these other dudes! And 3) Why are these guys even fighting joe? I mean, I can somewhat understand Spiderman since the Bugle often frames him as a villain, and it could be a misunderstanding, but a lot of these make no sense, and that just overrides any "rule of cool" for me personally. Don't know if they were inspired by Ninja Gaiden or not, but I've heard that the Game Gear & Master System Ninja Gaiden games where developed by the Shinobi team at Sega or whatever, so there might be some "cross pollination" if you will. Though, comparing Shinobi to Ninja Gaiden is an Apples to Oranges type of comparison, with Shinobi III being the one game that seems to come the closest to Ninja Gaiden. I played Shinobi III before Revenge due to 1) not having my own Genesis at the time and 2) Shinobi III being on a Genesis collection I bought for the PS3. I found it to be one of those situations where it's kinda hard to go back to an earlier instalment after playing it's sequel first. I did eventually get into it, but I still think III is better. Ninjas dressed as nuns? So, NUN-JAS!...I'll see myself out now...
Thats what i love about Revenge of Shinobi. Its so filled with pop culture references. But if you look at Shinobi 1 Spider-Man is in it as well. And it seems that Arnold from Commando is in it too (The Bazooka guy)
What is so memorable about this game was it was one of the first games that had a “bad” ending. I don’t recall any NES games they had a “bad” ending… they just seemed to happen on Genesis. For me as a 12yo beating this game was tough. I only did it once as a kid and despite trying my best to toss my shrunken in the hole I just couldn’t beat him fast enough and although I won… I lost. I remember being a little emotionally damaged by that. Other Genesis games that had bad endings were Streets of Rage and while not a “bad” ending… Phantasy Star 2 had a real mind F of an ending that didn’t make me feel great. Phantasy Star 2 from a dystopian standpoint has a lot of relevance given current times. People have done videos just on the plot and ending of PS2. Also… while not an optional bad ending… Legend of Zelda - Links Awakenings ending really did a psychological number on me.
I think Castlevaina 2 had a "Bad" ending. I think if you took too long to beat the game, it had Simon Belmont dying of the curse. If you beat the game in a certain time, he survives.
From what I understand, there were some NES games made with the concept of having bad endings, but those were changed so that you always saw the good endings in them.
As many times as I've played through this myself as a teenager and adult, I knew I would learn new things by watching you play it. And sure enough..... I did.
Amazing video can't imagine the work this must have taken! This game took me about 20 years to beat as I gave up on it and came back and beat it as an adult. My kid self could never even get to the final boss because I'd get frustrated on the maze level. I easily beat Shinobi 3 as a kid but this one couldn't. As an adult got the bad ending first time and then read up a bit about the boss and came back and got the good ending. The sword and whip guys you and just go up and melee them no need for shurikens.
As a kiddo, it took me years to beat it... years longer to good ending it. This is among my fav childhood memories... :) Still, learned much on this Vid I never found myself all that time ago... one thing I did find it seems like ya might not have: There's times when you're standing on stuff like Boxes while an enemy's below... more than once ya missed a chance to take'em by goin to the edge & duck-kicking them down... then ya didn't have to jump over them & gamble on if ya could turn around & get'em before they turned around & managed to hit you first. Nonetheless... nothing was more useful a tip/trick then the one revealing that this game was actually available on Steam! Now that I know of this, I MIST HAVE IT!!! :O Thank you so much for all the work & effort to these Vids... so many more Games to cover as well... "Faria" for the NES for example comes to mind... loved that game, but never managed to beat it even with the "GaoGao Cheat"... P.S. Bad Ending Naoko's Face did NOT transition gracefully from SD Res to HD Res... O_0
34:14 Fun fact - Purple Phoenix is using a three section staff, a weapon made famous by Gordon Liu in The 36th Chamber of Shaolin. Nunchucks lack the reach that a three section staff affords the user. The first time I saw the Purple and White Phoenix enemies, I mistook the weapon for a weighted chain like those of the Japanese kusari-gama.
Whoa…I NEVER even noticed the background of the map screen featured actual continents on earth. Consider my mind blown! Also never knew about the ‘coin ship’ bonus for the level endings here. I think I came across this game by buying the Genesis “6-pak” so I didn’t know a whole lot about the games’ storylines. Even when it’s games I’ve beaten, there’s always something I didn’t know about featured in these videos…thanks for the upload!
One of the first games I played on my genesis back in 92. I was only 6 and found the game too difficult to play so I threw it aside for years. Finally when I was about 13 I decided to play the game again and the game is very difficult for first time players who don’t know what their doing and don’t know the time on the double jump. What kept me playing the game over and over again was the amazing soundtrack, every levels music just got better and better and I just kept playing it over and over again hearing that music. Fast forward 20 something years later and I beat the game maybe 30 times with both endings and it is one of my favorite games of all time and one of if not the best soundtrack on the genesis. The Shinobi series in general is one of my favorite series ever, Shinobi 1 and shadow dancer are great arcade style games with a trial and error learning curve, shadow dancer on genesis is the definitive way to plays the games, the game gear Shinobi games are great because you have different Shinobis for each level and they all do different things to adjust to the level, Shinobi 3 has it all with beautiful graphics, great level designs and fantastic music, Shinobi legions/X is an often overlooked game with great gameplay mechanics, high difficulty and 2 very good soundtracks depending on the version you play. The ps2 games took the essence of Shinobi and put it in a 3d environment and did it very well and Shinobi 3ds did a solid job of bringing the series back to its 2d style roots.
It is pretty funny that you got to fight a bunch of licensed characters as enemies and bosses in this game (at least if you were playing the earlier versions) certainly a highlight!
My friend had Sega Channel- I thought it was so cool. I remember playing The Wily Wars all day with him, and I still wonder why they didn't just release that one in the US.
Omg sega Channel I had that too, I loved it I wish we could get that back, screw the switch’s retro series sega channel absolutely dominated!!! I was a huge huge fan of beavis and butthead back in the sega channel days!
Thanks for the reply. All of your videos are awesome! I remember when the Wily Wars was released on Sega channel exclusively. I spent a lot of time trying to beat all of the games.
I remembered when I was a kid I found a glitch in this game. With that glitch, I can use infinite amount of Jitsu of Mijin. I don't remember the details, but what I remembered is, I immediately start the game, in the first screen with an enemy, I immediately use the Mijin. Just like that, I can use Mijin infinitely, which makes my life also infinite. I think there was a time where my life count to 0, I chose to use Mijin so my life turned back to 9. I don't know if this glitch true to everyone or not, but that's how I can manage to play until the Terminator boss. I was still around 7 back then, but I can't finish the game because I can't handle the platforming.
The *Shadow Dancer* boss - In case you were wondering - is: The white Ninja-esque enemy who throws Shurikens, but he has the Fushin magic! Pay close attention to how it looks like there's multiples of him as he jumps around.
Gotta say, the channel is really going strong and the quality is still top notch, if not better! Love seeing you expand to some other platforms too. Keep up the great work!
I remember I got the bad ending on my first completion of this game because I couldn't figure out how to beat Zeed quickly enough. I didn't know what on Earth was going on, the boss looked very unorthodox indeed and it didn't make sense that I couldn't hit him when he'd chucked his hair away from his head and just stood there with his body exposed. It felt like cheating at times the way he'd throw it. With all that distraction, I didn't realise what was going on in the background until it was too late, which I'm guessing was the entire point of making the battle so awkward and drawn out. Remember being a little upset by the ending, it was a bit sad really, caught me off guard, as it started to sink in what you were viewing in the night sky.
The dogs are cute, your skills are phenomenal, and your videos are both entertaining and informative. I may have said something to that effect in a previous video, but since commenting gets the algorithm's attention, I'll go ahead and repeat myself. Keep it up.
Wow, so many great memories and this game is one of my best in my game library. Great review. Guess it's time to warm up my Genesis w/Joe! Thank you for the review!😊😊
I like how the dogs in this particular thumbnail make it look like it's Shadow Dancer. They fit right in. Another fun video guide. Even though I've played the game and have my own strategies, I learned some new approaches that I may or my not use. Even taken on their own, learning where all the hidden power ups are is super worthwhile. It's worth mentioning that some enemies, like the samurai that block with their swords can be manipulated based on whether you're standing or crouching. If you don't want to do melee attacks, you can toss a kunai on one level, such as crouching, then switch to standing before it gets to him, or vice versa. I enjoyed this video. Thanks.
Man I love this series!! Thank you so much for making these. I have beaten this game and my friend didn't believe me so he connected it all up and made me play it just to prove it! haha fun times
I was able to get this recently in a Sega collection for my Xbox One. Thanks for sharing these strategies. I will have to give this game a go and use this as a guide.
I love shinobi such an awesome series! When I bought my sega genesis I got shinobi 3 and jurassic park! I got the sports edition came with sega tennis and boxing!
I love this game on the hardest difficult with 0 shurukins. Very fun. I always used self destruction against Godzilla . Good to find the hidden ninjitsu powers. Once you lose your powerups against the last boss its super hard to beat him. Very fun game
I like your style, dude. This feels like a video version of the old school gaming magazines we used to rely so heavily on. It was such a different time when that was the only way to find all the cheats and hidden goodies in our favorite games.
This is easily my favorite gaming channel on RUclips and also the most underrated channel on RUclips and general, you have helped me beat so many retro games like mega man and super c, keep up the great work I can’t wait to see all the retro games you do down the line!
It’s so awesome to see how much this channel has grown over the last year I’ve been watching, i watch religiously every Saturday lol, my 6 year old son loves the dog when I turn these videos on he always goes along with the little Mario at the beginning and then does the little meow at the end!!!! This has to be one of the best retro game channels ever, it’s helped me beat games I could never beat when I was a little kid back in the 90s!!! Not only does this channel give me nostalgia feeling but actually gives me redemption on some of the games I would loose my but on back in the day!!! Please do a live stream special one of these days if you playing games for like an hour or two and do a face reveal lol I’m sure alot of us would love to see who the mastermind is behind this channel!!!
But I’m not sure if it showed his face, not that showing your face on RUclips is important I know some people like their privacy and I respect that but it would be cool for a live stream with him talking to us so we can like ask questions and watch him play live! It would be cool
@@mattymatt1 ohh ok I do remeber the duck hunt video check that out cause he did have the duck hunt speed runner or world record holder for that episode and it was awesome, and I believe it showed the back of him playing but I don’t know if it was him or the speed runner
I remember as a kid beating this game, although I couldn't beat Zeed before Naoko would get crushed (And had no idea about you being able to stop it temporarily.), but just the fact I could actually beat the game felt like such a massive accomplishment and I honestly think it was the first game where I saw a "Bad" ending even.
The 00 Shurikens thing also works for the sequel to this game, which, depending on where you live, is called either The Super Shinobi II, or Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master.
I remember the first time I solved RoS - Joe got to shop vac his fiancé up off of the floor. Replayed the game to get the good ending later on; not many console games I replayed in the past especially ones with multiple endings. RoS was definitely unique and was in fact the game that sold the Sega Genesis to me so their marketing concerning the platform and game worked on me at least. Good vid and commentary - the sidebar with tips was a nice touch too.
@@Loader2K1 Must agree agree with you on that point; it was not until the Genesis/Mega Drive that I remember any multiple ending games and I had quite a few by that time. RoS ticked all the boxes for me with Ninjas, cool audio and stunning graphics back in 1990. Sold off my NES and a library of around 200 games and bought the Genesis with RoS on the same trip to the shop. Sega brought many "PC" gaming concepts to the console and it was fun, took stuff to the next level, but also show third party devs that the platform could facilitate a great deal more than any before it. The Genesis/Mega Drive evolved gaming reducing the gap between console and PC.
Im replaying this over and over on a EMULATOR And it brilliant. I had this and Shinobi 3 on the genesis. The controls are tight while also having fluidity at the same time plus the graphics are fantastic
Sometimes I wish I had a Sega growing up. So many good games I've missed over the years due to having parents that loved Nintendo's products more. Ah well, this was a wild ride this video. Cheers again for my Sunday morning (Yep, your vids come out at breakfast time here in Australia) coffee before I start the day more enjoyable mate. Keep up the great vids. :) PS: Love the puppers paw on the controler in every intro. Always gives me a smile.
Yessss!!!! Genesis !! Love it!!! Keep them coming !!! Bloodlines, Contra Hard corps, Earthworm Jim, pretty much anything other then Sonic would be appreciated ….thanks for all your hard work and awesome walk throughs
CV Bloodlines and Contra Hard Corps are absolutely the kind of games I'm going to cover here. I like the EWJ series, too - Do people like it better on Sega or SNES? The two versions are pretty close, but not exactly the same. Got to do Sonic 2 at some point because its like the most well known game on the system, but the Genesis has a lot of great games that are exclusive to it.
Round 4, assuming that is the US that the plane lands in and that the map is supposed to be accurate, looks more to be Washington State. Michigan is far more eastward, where Round 6 appears to be. Round 7 looks to be around the Carolinas -- maybe South Carolina. As for 8-2's maze, I remember printing out a map that lays out the way to go. Kudos to the maker.
It's clear that the correct geography used in the America part of the diagram was the last thing on the staff's mind, LOL. Round 4 is supposed to be Detroit, but it's placed on the upper West Coast instead of the Midwest. They at least knew where (East) L.A. is, as the title of Round 5 is Area Code 818.
Allegedly, Batman's replacement is Devilman from the manga of the same name. Or, at least, that's what The Cutting Room Floor article states. The prototype version also has an unused alternate bad ending where Joe and Naoko trade places.
I am 42 and played this in 1990 back in England I thought when I saw this video I thought what are you gonna teach me about this game that I don’t already know Things in the first level I never seen before with the 2 life and the 5 X Kuni I watched the whole video from beginning to end after that I learnt a valuable lesson that Jordan Peterson says , always assume the other person knows something you don’t Now I will listen to that saying
Looking at the Samurai guy in purple armor, I won't blame a few young American kids who also thought that Revenge of Shinobi also had the Shredder from the 80s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series as a Boss character. At the time, this was about as close as any American kid with a SEGA Genesis would have gotten to seeing a historically Japanese Samurai suit of armor.
It's a really interesting creative decision to let you "beat" the final boss while still failing in the rescue mission. It's not like alternate endings based on special achievements like some other games had later on, but in this one you are literally failing the mission while beating the game. Most other games would just give you a 'game over' when the girl dies to that crushing stone, but this one lets you keep going and beat the final boss, even when she's dead. I can't really recall seeing that in other games.
Lots of memories of this. My best friend got a Genesis for Christmas of 89 back in the day, and this was one of the first games he bought. We played this endlessly. I played this, Golden Axe, Ghostbusters, Strider and Ghouls 'n Ghosts over at his house a lot through 1990. I don't know if you take requests, but ever consider doing Konami's Mission: Impossible for the NES? It's a great game that plays like a more fast-paced Metal Gear, and it definitely lives up to its name, as it's one of the harder games in the NES' library. I think it would be a perfect game to cover on this channel.
Having beaten Mission Impossible sometime last year, I will second the request. Question: can a game of tic-tac-toe prevent mutually-assured nuclear destruction?
Pretty comprehensive guide with all the item locations being noted, good stuff for sure. Some other things worth mentioning: 27:00 Regarding Hulk/Terminator (Hulkinator?), an alternative strategy is that you can use the Ikazuchi magic as soon as the fight starts, then just wander on up and stab him to bits with melee attacks. It destroys him in seconds and is a great way to save on kunai. If you're feeling extra spicy and don't have any magic available (or just don't want to use it lmao), but do have the POW, with good timing you can even manage to wipe him out before he has a chance to charge! 32:13 It's possible to stand on the edge right-side of the raised section which the second pod rises from, turn to the left and just use melee attacks -- the travelling sparks don't climb up onto that section at all for some reason, so there's no panic or pressure in dealing with pod 2.
How I loved this episode!. It could help me to find the way out of the maze at last stage, and beat the game. Thank you so much. I'm a big fan of the channel.
When I first got this game, I loved the music so much, I recorded it on tape - even the tune that plays at the end, after you beat the game. I used one of those "clownish" Memorex cassettes...
I mentioned that the non-JPN omited the credits (I think it only appears in the good ending... and also the only way outside sound test back then to hear the full good ending song)... which was a weird and needless thing to do, but that and the unlicensed stuff aside, the game is really good and fun (not to mention that at my country, one gaming magazine had to help an old woman and his grandchild with a Neo Zeed's maze map with VERY detailed instructions on how to deal with it and the secret power-ups along the way... and also how to prevent the bad ending from happening).
This channel is simply awesome!! Since the first video I have liked and commented on every video, and with no doubt it is the only channel I go out of my way to do so. Much love ... One question though.. what's the little puppers name? Related to Kylo? So cute 🥰 that attack when grabbing the cartridge lol
Interestingly enough, in the ending of the 1987 arcade, it was stated that the mastermind behind ZEED was Joe's mentor, Nakahara. Nakahara was a ninjutsu master who grew obssessed with the role ninjas had in the Sengoku period, and kidnapped several Oboro trainees to be brainwashed as part of his plan.
Re: Level 2, the Waterfalls, using Fushin jutsu is most certainly the best way to approach the log jumping sections. There's also a jump somewhere in that stage that can be made without Fushin, but requires the use of a breakable box. If you make the mistake of cracking it open for the item inside when you have no Ninjutsu available, you're losing a life.
I remember playing this game on 1 TV and watching Beetlejuice cartoon on another TV. We had 3 TV'S next to each other; 1 had NES, 1 had SNES, 1 had Genesis.
Nice vid. Wish i knew all these secrets the first time I played through this game. Would have been soooo much easier. Kind of makes me want to replay it. Ether way it is a fantastic game.
Fun fact: there was an American Sega CD game that came with Streets of rage, Revenge of Shinobi, Golden Axe, and Columbs. That Sega CD title has the 1.0 version of revenge of Shinobi.
Actual god tier channel. Words can't describe how much I love learning about older games. This and the Cobra Triangle episode are some of my personal favorites. Never stop doing this man, your passion for retro games is inspirational!

Idk if anyone else noticed this, but the sound telling you to go "next" after beating a room/area is the same sound used in Streets of Rage 2!
classic game. I still have the version with Spidey, Batman, Godzilla, etc!
How do you get that version lmao?

Revenge of Shinobi. My favorite genesis game of all time. It's like you know me! Thank you sir for covering this!
Honestly, I've never really liked the cameo bosses for a few reasons. 1) It feels either lazy or uncreative 2) It kinda gave me a sense of "My OC can beat up all these other dudes!
Watching your video gets me excited to jump back into some classics. These classics will never die!!!
Thats what i love about Revenge of Shinobi. Its so filled with pop culture references. But if you look at Shinobi 1 Spider-Man is in it as well. And it seems that Arnold from Commando is in it too (The Bazooka guy)
I never thought I'd see a guide on beating this game! Great job, I have played this countless times and still learnt new strategies!
DUDE this is my favorite megadrive game Soon as I saw this I turned it on playing along side you 10/10
awesome!
As many times as I've played through this myself as a teenager and adult, I knew I would learn new things by watching you play it. And sure enough..... I did.
Woah Sega Genesis cover NICE!
Puppy doing puppy things 😂. Another great video!
I could never beat this as a kid. This was an awesome game!!
Same here my friend.
Me too! I never had a Genesis but my cousin did and when we would visit, this is the game we played. I was only able to get past level 2.
@@memozepeda9094 For me i could never beat Zeed, no matter how many times i tried he always put the hurtin on me lol.
That maze sucked. Without the solution from either Game Pro or EGM, I dunno if I'd ever have figured it out.
The whipping hair dude was damn near impossible to beat. This gonna be a great video.
As a kiddo, it took me years to beat it... years longer to good ending it. This is among my fav childhood memories... :)
Still, learned much on this Vid I never found myself all that time ago... one thing I did find it seems like ya might not have: There's times when you're standing on stuff like Boxes while an enemy's below... more than once ya missed a chance to take'em by goin to the edge & duck-kicking them down... then ya didn't have to jump over them & gamble on if ya could turn around & get'em before they turned around & managed to hit you first. Nonetheless... nothing was more useful a tip/trick then the one revealing that this game was actually available on Steam! Now that I know of this, I MIST HAVE IT!!! :O
Thank you so much for all the work & effort to these Vids... so many more Games to cover as well... "Faria" for the NES for example comes to mind... loved that game, but never managed to beat it even with the "GaoGao Cheat"...
P.S. Bad Ending Naoko's Face did NOT transition gracefully from SD Res to HD Res... O_0
the music is amazing. this is what made sega so successful . they had teams of programmers and artists that were amazing
I eventually beat this as a kid through tons of trial and error. Knowing this stuff would have made it so much easier!
I loved this game back in the day.
Because of this channel Ive been replaying old classics that I never beat when I was a kiddo, so much fun
Ahem - unlicensed characters. 😉
@@maximusmax4557 Right, what you said. 🙂
The first time I played this was on the Sega channel. I friggin loved it.
I LOVE seeing Kylo sleeping on the couch at the end of your videos!
This is a hard game….even for today. Love the music.
I remember this! It was on the Ultimate Genesis Collection on my mom’s Xbox 360!
I always thought the water in the waterfall section was really cool
Got this game on Christmas eve with the Genesis. Loved it!
This is my favorite Genesis game. It is also one of the first games made for it and one of the first I played when I got it for Xmas 1990.
The fact that the bosses are based on known characters. It was a hard game.
This channel deserves waaaaaaay more subscriptions.
Well, you said I would probably be excited about this weeks video and you were 100% right. Well done man!
This is easily my favorite gaming channel on RUclips and also the most underrated channel on RUclips and general, you have helped me beat so many retro games like mega man and super c, keep up the great work I can’t wait to see all the retro games you do down the line!
This game was a huge part of my childhood
@@mattymatt1 I think that was the duck hunt special he did a few months ago!
One of the best games on the Genesis
Another awesome video game. Thanks for the free content.
Early Genesis/Mega Drive games were the first games to introduce the concept of winning the fight but losing the war to my child self.
PS: Love the puppers paw on the controler in every intro. Always gives me a smile.
I love the puppy, too!
Yessss!!!! Genesis !!
I consider EWJ a Genesis game before an SNES game, even has a level SNES doesn’t have. Also, the music sounds better on Sega IMO
It's a video game. I don't think the map - nor the settings in each level - are accurate.
It really looks the part, sure enough!
I am 42 and played this in 1990 back in England
I thought when I saw this video I thought what are you gonna teach me about this game that I don’t already know
Things in the first level I never seen before with the 2 life and the 5 X Kuni
I watched the whole video from beginning to end after that
I learnt a valuable lesson that Jordan Peterson says , always assume the other person knows something you don’t
Now I will listen to that saying
Looking at the Samurai guy in purple armor, I won't blame a few young American kids who also thought that Revenge of Shinobi also had the Shredder from the 80s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series as a Boss character.
At the time, this was about as close as any American kid with a SEGA Genesis would have gotten to seeing a historically Japanese Samurai suit of armor.
He does look a bit like Shredder! I totally agree that some kids may have thought he was just another cameo like Spider Man
Opening up the Genesis library are we??? How about some Beyond Oasis? Also never got to play this one. Shinobi on ps2 was pretty cool tho.
What a great way to start a Saturday! Thanks again UCBVG!
I hope a ToeJam and Earl video is coming soon! Great Video as always..
That one is on my list!
@@UCanBeatVideoGames Sweeeeeeet!! That Ice cream Truck horn gave me nightmares in my sleep! Thanks again for the great vids, I can't wait!
SNES Drunk just made a video on it, though his are five minute highlights and not a walkthrough. Great channel, anyhow. 👌
@@alkristopher Just ask Matthew Broderick in Wargames.
@@alkristopher Yes. Yes it can.
Pretty comprehensive guide with all the item locations being noted, good stuff for sure. Some other things worth mentioning:
27:00 Regarding Hulk/Terminator (Hulkinator?), an alternative strategy is that you can use the Ikazuchi magic as soon as the fight starts, then just wander on up and stab him to bits with melee attacks.
It’s ya boy “you can beat video games” coming through with some Genesis action
Great to see you do more Sega contents!
It's 3am here, but this did finally help me beat Revenge of Shinobi; thanks for the inspiration!
22:25 Logical explanation!
How I loved this episode!. It could help me to find the way out of the maze at last stage, and beat the game. Thank you so much. I'm a big fan of the channel.
I didn't know Yuzu Koshiro composed for the Revenge of Shinobi. No wonder I liked it so much I recorded it on a small portable tape recorder.
Sega Genesis Collection I have it! Out for all systems!!
When I first got this game, I loved the music so much, I recorded it on tape - even the tune that plays at the end, after you beat the game. I used one of those "clownish" Memorex cassettes...
Me and my friends could never beat this game. We always played it up to the last level over and over again. The game was so cool to play.
Did you get as frustrated with the last level as I did lol?
Here we go!
It's weird they didn't pick bad guys to rip off, because I don't see Batman, Spiderman, and Rambo on Neo Z's side.
Oh boy, a new video game video-----------OH MY GOD, PUPPY
Re: Level 2, the Waterfalls, using Fushin jutsu is most certainly the best way to approach the log jumping sections. There's also a jump somewhere in that stage that can be made without Fushin, but requires the use of a breakable box. If you make the mistake of cracking it open for the item inside when you have no Ninjutsu available, you're losing a life.
All the jumps in that stage is fine without justsu, you just need to have a good (don't need to be perfect) timing on the double jump
Thank you!!!
