A tip for the Four Kings at 51:33 for anyone who struggles with this problem: They try to 1v1 you, but they have attack zone "bubbles" around each king. would love to see a version of this in the other two dark souls games. with the pyro scaling I think it would be easier but I think it would still be a decent challenge.
My favorite magic type in DS1 is pyromancies, because they do not require any stats, so they can be used by basically anyone willing to invest in upgrading their flame.
That is also why non-physical builds do less damage with it. It baffles me JK doesn't know that with all his expertise, then again, he never cast a spell before so I guess he's excused 😅

Sorcery and Pyromancy complement each other very well for a multitude of reasons. One of them is that magic boost gear like the Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring boost BOTH sorcery AND pyromancy damage, likely because the latter branches out from the former. Another is the while sorcery mainly gives you long-ranged spells, pyromancy mainly gives you close-ranged spells. Pyromancy is my favorite for its versatility and coolness. Sorcery is also cool and fun.
Not only is it possible it's very easy. Start with miracles, get 50 FTH and 45 DEX, obliterate the whole game with lightning spears. Once finished, farm the slugs in the painted world with WOTG (by far the most efficient soul farming in the game without cheating) till you have 50 INT. Start NG+ as an OP sorcerer. Pyromancy is easy no matter when you do it, and it only benefits from the 45 DEX.
Warning: If there aren’t any videos after this, it will be due to the fact that I’ve started Elden Ring and smashed the PS5 controller against the TV hence no more video editing 😬
My favorite description ever of magic in the original dark souls games is from Joseph Anderson, that it makes you feel like you’re playing a first person shooter but you’re the only one with a gun.
Fantastic run! Two observations though: I think ornstein was just out-ranging your emit force shots base on the video, and I know from experience it's got a fixed very short range. Which can come in handy sometimes, like when you killed crestfallen with it detonating after his rolls. It's quite useful unlocked, as it will detonate either at the fixed range, or on contact with a surface. The other point though could have made your life immensely easier: In DS1 leveling dex to the soft cap of 40 increases your casting speed. For certain with sorcery and miracles, but I don't remember if it affects pyromancy.
so... the other challenge runners on speed, got it. subscribed. also those dad jokes though xD oh, pro tip about the bonewheel bois, you can cheese them by having high poise armor on and bonking them
Me looking at the magic challenge runs and seeing the others "respect for the effort, bro deserves a sub" So, here i am. Great video man! I will be use to replicate your entire video (I am going to die to Asylum demon and ragequit after the 10th death)
@@OniBoy02 I did grab it, It took 20+ times, I eventually got it with a +8pyro glove and great combustion, it 2 shots the tip of his tail and getting there is easy if u let him break his own crystal. When I actually tried to fight him that last run it was an incredibley easy fight once I wasn’t trying to get the sword
Favorite Magic Type is a hard question. From a usefulness standpoint Pyromancies can't really be topped. They don't need stat scaling and due absurdly good damage basically "out the box" as long as you make sure to keep your Flame upgraded relative to your area. From a visual and gameplay FEEL standpoint it's hard to beat throwing lightning spears like goddamn ZEUS, cladding your weapons in sparkling lightning, and just straight up smiting enemies with the wrath of the actual gods. So Miracles get that for me. Just feels so badass. From a lore perspective Sorceries are basically Seethe's plus Humanity's answer to the Miracles of the gods and that's far more admirable in my opinion than gaining power from blind faith in a pantheon of gods that uses humanity/undead like cannon fodder. Ultimately, I know it's a bit of a cop-out, but I do like them all honestly.
good vid. i've always been curious to see how the various caster builds stack up against each other but not enough to, you know, run the game another 3 times, so that was interesting
You made a few references to ZeroLenny's Dark Souls IGN Guide, wich were pretty neat! Great video btw, it's been a while since i last played this game, don't wanna kill Sif
Absolutely loved this video. My first run through darksould remastered I chose the cleric, without knowing what I was getting my self into. Needless to say I realized very quickly what absolute garbage miracles were. I stared new with pyromancy and had a blast playing the game.
Fantastic video, bet this took a ton of work to throw together. With your intelligence, though, this video was sure to be fire, and I for one had faith in you. Next up: DS2 with the same thing except NG+3 has hexes only
I know I'm over a year late and this has probably been discussed before, but for 14:11 I think crystal soul spear does more damage because it is one hit and therefore, factors in seath's huge magic damage resistance only once, while dark bead hits 7 times and so the damage reduction is factored in 7 times.

Thank you for your comment. Your insight is greatly appreciated and shall be taken on board.
Warning: If there aren’t any videos after this, it will be due to the fact that I’ve started Elden Ring and smashed the PS5 controller against the TV hence no more video editing 😬
Really a fucking advertisement
Honestly....I can't say anything in response to this apart from....I LOVE YOU ❤️
honestly, i've never done a Souls game without magic of some kind, usually miracles as i like the whole cleric thing and supporting people in co-op
Run invalid because of fists 😔
It is 5.30 am and i should be sleeping but here i am, just now at the end of an almost hour long dark souls video. Love the video, keep it up
Nito gave you the Yeet-o lmao, great video! Loved watching you punch the asylum demon ;)
Yeah he literally threw me into the next dimension 😂
Yo love ur vids
My favorite description ever of magic in the original dark souls games is from Joseph Anderson, that it makes you feel like you’re playing a first person shooter but you’re the only one with a gun.
Thanks for the video. Really enjoy this long form content from you!
15:00 Make the Moonlight Butterfly float down... AH! I get it! Hilarious
The catacombs becons sweetly to all ashen ones leading them astray to wander into nothingness just to wander back and grab their damm quest
I like how you go from the most efective Magic (soul stuff/int), all the way tô the worst (miracles/fth) while amping up the difficulty with NG+
Just got back from work an hour ago so I couldn't watch your stream live but I was looking forward to watching it my whole shift!
I have a feeling that the "Arkham Demon" joke went under-appreciated.
I for one, loved it.
I was committed to this and then IT FLOATS DOWN. You definitely earned my sub
I really enjoyed this, seeing the difficulty rise too with every run. Yeah very fun
I rate this video - Good fire pun out of 10
When you said "Floats down" I died laughing, funniest thing ever all the lads around the office love that one
That was a lot of fun to watch. Thank you!
so... the other challenge runners on speed, got it. subscribed. also those dad jokes though xD oh, pro tip about the bonewheel bois, you can cheese them by having high poise armor on and bonking them
Me looking at the magic challenge runs and seeing the others "respect for the effort, bro deserves a sub" So, here i am. Great video man! I will be use to replicate your entire video (I am going to die to Asylum demon and ragequit after the 10th death)
I've always loved sorcery, but mostly just because Enchanted Balder Side Sword is a great weapon for when you're an int build, and I like that weapon.
I’m doing my first sorcery run rn, just finished seath with an enchanted balder side sword lmao
@@mop8328 hopefully you cut of seath's tail to get the moonlight greatsword as well. Very wonderful weapon that scales entirely with intelligence.
The glove broke. Lmao. Also this man's ability to make puns are unparalleled.
Stumbled upon this in recommendations, came for the challenge - stayed for delightful barrage of puns, love it
That Olive-goyle pun was fantastic! I always enjoy hearing new puns.
This guy is my kinda humor 😂 I've watch a ton of your vids since subbing and you didn't disappoint ! Bravo!
good vid. i've always been curious to see how the various caster builds stack up against each other but not enough to, you know, run the game another 3 times, so that was interesting
My favourite part is when the moonlight butterfly floats down 😂
This was great. Your sub count really belies the quality of your content. Thanks JK.
It floats down 😂Youve got our whole office laughing
I love the classic n64 music. Pure nostalgia, dk64 and banjo kazooie.. chefs kiss
You made a few references to ZeroLenny's Dark Souls IGN Guide, wich were pretty neat! Great video btw, it's been a while since i last played this game, don't wanna kill Sif
I watched one of his bloodbourne runs and i was hooked. Thanks for the content
You're welcome my dude
Absolutely loved this video. My first run through darksould remastered I chose the cleric, without knowing what I was getting my self into. Needless to say I realized very quickly what absolute garbage miracles were. I stared new with pyromancy and had a blast playing the game.
Came for the challenge run, stayed for the puns. Great work, keep it up!
When I started the video I for some reason thought this was also a no-hit challenge 😭Still very impressive and great content idea!
